@randomtoker Cool thread bud!

I've just ordered some of those ccell heads too. I'm gonna try pull the ceramic out and put it in my rda. I think this will work for wax as well as liquids. Just need to find the right rda, I'm gonna try a postless rda first.

Kinda gave up on thc e-liquid a while back, mainly due to peg's taste, but that was before temp control and these new tanks/mods and TERPS!!!

Hope I can get some of these new terp mixers shipped to the UK. That ejmix stuff is garbage.

^^^ Sounds interesting! Keep us posted. Haven't heard anyone pulling the ceramic out of pre-mades.

First i make a solution of 96,8% Ethanol and hash. Cooking at 78°C for 10 min, 60 min at freezer and filtrate to a coffeefilter. Then cook again (from 30ml solution to 2ml), mix it with a 50/50 Mixture of PEG 400/PG...take more PG for better measures.... Now you have 10g hash in 30ml THC base...no dispension....a yellow clear power liquid.

Sorry about the language ;)
Whoa, sounds like a great end result. Thanks for sharing your recipe. I'm glad I asked. Have you tried the Rosin technique to extract instead of ethanol? (low heat, press through screen)

Do you notice if thc juice wears out wicks faster? I've been thinking that the oils from the cannabis probably gunk them up and increase chance of charring more than nic juice? This is partially why I'm hoping to eventually build and wick my own. Can you re-wick a coil a number of times before rebuilding it?

Hey for anyone who is into DIY I found a good store on ebay that sell terpenes individually. I myself am looking to get alpha and beta Pinene as well as Caryophyllene (making my own sativa focused blend).

http://stores.ebay.com/cchemandsolventsllc/

Also does lemon juice contain Limonene?
Looks like the same CCS as the Amazon store linked on page one. Good to know they have an ebay store also. I'm curious if they're any good. I read mixed reviews on lab tests of their products. Price is cheap enough to try though.

Concentrated lemon extract would have limonene in it (cold pressed lemon oil). Not lemon juice though.

Definitely; and yeah I get a bunch of wicks out of a coil, maybe even a month or more! I feel like I get a lot more control rebuilding than any stock coils I've used.

I change the wattage every day and the wick all month. I think the solution is the "Fluidmatrix" of solvent and thc, combined with TempMode and powerfull wicks.

I dont need a special technique... the Ethanol is good for the Fluidmatrix of the E-Juice (PEG400/PG + a little bit Ethanol) ;)

How much Ethanol are we talking? Anything over 10% is asking for trouble.

So I finally got the Cuboid set up with the Aromamizer. I don't have any THC e-juice around at the moment so I ordered a 0-Nic juice and I'm quite pleased with it altogether. It functions really well and I was shocked by how easy it was to pick up and use. I've so far been using it with a .2 ohm nickel coil set up from the OCC coils. I'm planning on building a higher resistant subOhm coil with Titaniuk coil as it seems to be a safer material than many of the other coil options, at least with temperature control, as I understand it the primary risk of TI coil is overheating it and creating titanium oxide which is bad but is entirely prevented as a risk by using a TC mod that supports titanium.

So I haven't used either the tank or the mod very much yet, but my first impressions of both are favorable. The mod is easy to use and the controls are intuitive and the manual is clear and instructive. While the Cuboid mod is capable of charging batteries internally the manual itself recommends against it. It's my understanding that the cuboid can be safely used to charge batteries but that an external charger will be both quicker and safer. It's also my understanding that charging batteries internally may reduce their lifespan, so I didn't take advantage of the ability to charge internally. My computer's hard drive is failing so I'm typing this on my phone and haven't upgraded the firmware yet, but will report back on the process and the outcome later.

Onto the tank. The Aromamizer is a kinda weird cross between a drip atomizer and a tank atomizer. The way the tank feeds into the coil and wick is really hard to describe without picture but basically only a little bit of liquid can be in the coil area at a time. It's pretty cool and different from a lot of other tanks. A lot of users report that this makes it taste better. I don't have experience with other tanks so I can't really compare, but based on my experience with it that seems plausible. Filling the tank is not the easiest process as you have to feed the liquid in through these tiny holes and may need to do so slowly for liquids with higher viscosity. The 0nic e-juice that I'm testing it with has a high VG content so it's on the harder end of difficulty filling up this tank. I have some impairment in my fingers that usually makes this sort of thing more challenging for me than for most people but I didn't find it prohibitively difficult, on bad days I anticipate not being able to fill the tank, but I don't think I'll go through a tank of THC e-juice in less than a week or so and I could just top it up on better days to avoid having trouble with it on bad ones. There are rumors that the next version of this tank will be top fill and I'll definitely check that one out when it comes. The draw restriction is adjustable as it comes with these vape bands that can cover up 2 of the 4 intake holes or partially cover all of them or cover 2 and partially cover 2. This is a bit hard to explain without pictures but it's possible to have a fairly restricted draw if you set it up that way for some reason and it's also easy to have a an incredibly effortless wide open draw. The flavor blew me away as did the giant clouds of vapor I was able to create. I also tried to do ghost hits with it and that's also possible so it can be a giant cloud producer or allow you to meter out your juice usage carefully if that's your goal based on user technique and what temperatures you use it at. Higher temps can get a bit harsh and can definitely somewhat replicate the feel of smoking if you're into that. I definitely see why these devices are used so successfully as smoking cessation devices for cigarette smokers. Ooh and it tastes great. I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of the particular e-juice that I got as while I find it enjoyable it was described as having a bit of an orange taste and I personally found it to be a bit weak on the Orange. Anyway I love the Aromamizer and expect to pick up another before too long to have a tank for day use and a tank for nighttime use with different extracts being the base for either. Though the new Cubis tank from Joyetech is also getting some really good reviews and I also wanna check that out before too long.

How volatile are tarpenes? I ask because I'm afraid that I might have destroyed all the terps in the Holy Terp's "philosopher" mixer when I microwaved it to blend with my extract.

Also what is the most high anyone got while toking with their pen (w or w/o mod)? Is it possible to make infused e-juice and have the right pen settings to make one hit as powerful if not more powerful than a one hit .5 gram dab?

Great review of both the mod and the tank, thanks for posting! People really like the Joytek mods. Do they all have upgradeable firmware? Seems like that's a big part of their popularity. Wonder if they update often.

Tank looks interesting also. Did you get the 3 or 6ml?

I agree, I'll eventually get dual tanks also so I can make specific day and night mixes with different terps and concentrates.

Most terpenes will probably evap between 120-250f I think? You can look each up actually. If you want a really easy way to add heat where you don't have to worry about screwing up do this: microwave a bowl of water until it's hot, take it out of the microwave, then place your shotglass with concentrate and mixer in the bowl (obviously keep the water level in the bowl lower than the rim of the shotglass), stir stir and stir some more. It won't get too hot and it's easy to work with, you can just take the shotglass out and put the bowl back in the microwave if you need to reheat. Takes the worry out of the process.

I think if you want a hit as powerful as a .5 gram dab then you'd need to vape the equivalent concentrate dissolved in juice. Perhaps a thick mix (1:1) in a really sub ohm tank, with big wick holes, and a mega battery. I'm sure you've seen pics of ridiculous clouds before, but I think it would be hard to vape 1ml (half gram concentrate + half ml mixer) in one toke. Maybe hooking up a sub ohm vape to a big bong that you can fill with multiple tokes before sucking the whole thing down? LOL, at that point just dab really. :D That would be a pretty epic setup though.

I believe they all do. My impression is that firmware updates are relatively frequent. I haven't had the opportunity to upgrade the firmware because of unrelated computer issues.

I got the black 3ml. I'm probably going to get the 6ml again once the next version comes out if it's top filling. I've got my eyes on the Joyetech Cubis tank right now as my impression is that it is remarkably leak resistant and the top fill feature is appealing to me. Though from what I've read the Aromamizer may have it beat on flavor. However, unless there's some ridiculous sale I'll probably hold off on both of those purchases for a little bit.

Joyetech makes many mods, not all are firmware upgradeable. You want a vtc mini, Cuboid or RX200 depending on how many batteries you need, 1, 2 or 3 respectively.

Had an interesting experience mixing my last batch of juice. Loaded 6g with 10ml PG, 1 ml of PEG and 0.6 ml of my "terp mix" into a small mason jar and mixed well. Have been reading that very little PEG is required and that does seem to be the case. Everything going well, I took 5ml of the approx 14 ml of this mix and added 1 ml of a 50/50 PG/VG unflavored nicotine juice. Also mixed and stayed in solution very nicely.

Seeing how well that went, I added 2 ml of VG into the remaining 9ml of mix and that's when things went sideways. After several tries to mix, I let it separate thoroughly. I ended up with a dark layer floating on a white layer. It appeared to be about what I might expect to see had the product come together and all of the mixers fell out. Not that it solidified again or anything, but almost appeared that way. I considered trying to siphon off the dark layer, but decided to keep mixing instead.

I split this in half to test a rescue plan before I ruined it all. Added another 1.4 ml of PG before it would remain mixed. I added back a bit more product to reach the desired dilution rate and saved the batch. Did panic for a minute tho.

It's good to know where other people are finding the saturation levels, and which products help, and which hinder.
I too had some minor issues with separation (not quite separated, but minor 'layering' when I added glycerine, aqueous glycerine and very small amounts of FlavourArt flavours to my concentrate/Vapeur Extract mix.

I think that I've reached the dilution that I'd like (still steeping), but it's still a bit thick.
Trouble is that I don't want to dilute much more, just thin the viscosity.

I wish the terps available from CChem And Solvents would ship overseas, as I think they might help, and taste better?
Effect might also be improved.:hmm:

Hey @vaporvaper , if you find a place that does OS shipping hit us up with details will you?
I'm looking too :sherlock:

@getsoutalive I agree, doesn't seem like much PEG is needed. Thanks for the updates. I'm curious if the mix that had too much VG in it and separated would have mixed again with just a tiny bit of PEG.

----------------------------------------

So I just mixed up another batch with the last 1/2 g I had lying around. It's steeping now. Alien OG, this shatter is really strong, dark colored, and pungent smelling! I went between 4:1 and 5:1 this time. I find I end up adding more mix half way through the tank anyway, so might as well start higher.

Recipe (the flavor drops are ~ half the size of the mixer drops):
1/2g Alien OG shatter
38 drops HT (philosopher)
38 drops HT (couch lock)
5 drops pineapple (FA)
5 drops lemon sicily (FA)
5 drops mandarin

With that setting you recommended (1:1 thick mix with .2 ohm, etc.) how many hits would it take to equal a hit as powerful as a .5 gram dab? Your best guess would be appreciated. Also I've been thinking of buying TWO kangertech Nebox with the minimum ohm (.15) placing both in my mouth simultaneously and let err rip LOL!

Another way of asking this would be :
How many hits does it take to consume 1ml of 1:1 liqueed?

Surely even the very best/most powerful setups will take many draws to consume a whole ml?

I think that this tech is always going to disappoint someone who takes 0.5 gram dabs

Well it all depends on the coil. Least resestance less hits and vice versa. I've always been vaping with a 1.8 ohm coil and it took FOREVER to empty my 1ml tank. I don't know how long it would take with say a sub ohm like .2, but I'm sure it ALOT faster (alot less hits).

This discussion may be going slightly off topic but I think it also depends a bit on how much of the actives you're exhaling. Becuase while those big hits will get you there fast, I think there's a possibility that smaller hits may get you to the same point with less material. Though a lot of the setups we're talking about here may err a bit toward producing a fair bit of clouds without necessarily getting all of the actives delivered. Though considering a very significant portion of the vapor is going to be the VG it's possible that much less of the exhaled vapor is "useful" compared to the vapor from a dab hit off of a rig or the vapor from a dry herb vape.

Im going to make another tank of some liquid soon, last batch i made i used 1/2g sweet kush og with a 4:1 ratio of flavorless VE. What i found with my first batch is that it tasted and smelled liked bud, so in my next batch id like to improve that. Im looking to buy some FA for flavoring, do you think that will also help with the smell? How many drops should i use?

Short Answer (hah!):

Adding flavoring will add flavor to the inhaled vapor, and aroma to the exhaled vapor. I like the benefits of both. Depending on how much (and what sort of) flavor you use, it will help disguise what you're vaping.

I've found for 1/2g mixed at 4:1 ratio, 10-20 drops of flavor will make their presence known. (The flavor bottles have very small dropper tip so they're small drops.) Some flavors are stronger than others, so 20 would be too much for some, and 10 wouldn't be enough for others. You need to experiment (and share your successes and failures here so others can learn).

My Usual Rambling:

I like the addition of extra flavors. I understand why some people would just want to try to taste the concentrate and nothing else, I also understand why some people would only add terpenes for flavor and nothing else.

For me, I like the extra terpenes and the extra flavor. I'm not trying to turn it into a different flavor, I'm just trying to enhance the overall vaping experience and re-introduce some of those notes that are present when you vape perfectly cured dank buds, but at a slightly more pronounced level.

Here's what I've noticed about the FA flavors I've tried:
  • Blackberry
    • very strong and bitter
    • nice, but you just need to use tiny bits
    • mixes nice with Lemon and Lime
  • Strawberry
    • very strong
    • tastes too much like freeze dried strawberries
    • foamy taste overpowers everything, I don't like it
  • Pineapple
    • seems medium strength
    • very nice
    • compliments cannabis flavor
  • Lemon Sicily
    • seems quite strong
    • very nice, goes great with Pineapple
    • tasted stronger than Lime Tahiti to me
  • Lime Tahiti
    • seems medium strength
    • nice, also mixes great with Pineapple
    • the liquid is slightly colored, but this is a cold pressed extraction so that's natural
  • Mandarin
    • seems medium strength? need to work with it more
    • nice, mixes great with the other fruits
    • this liquid also has some color, not sure if it's natural extraction like Lime or not
    • I'd rather avoid color if possible, I'd have to ask somewhere to see if this one concerns anyone
  • Green Tea
    • rather strong, it will overpower the fruit flavors if not used sparingly
    • I got it to introduce some 'green / leafy' notes, it works for this, but very little is needed
    • I probably prefer just straight up fruit flavors, still deciding
  • Black Tea
    • rather strong, it will overpower the fruit flavor if not used sparingly
    • I got it to introduce some 'earthy / leafy' notes, it works, but need to use little
    • same as above, not sure if I prefer with or without yet
What I've learned so far:
  • A little goes a long way!
    • Too much doesn't make it taste more like what you want, it usually makes it taste less like what you want, generally very very gross.
    • Look at the links in the first post of this thread, check out HIC's notes and that forum link for nic juice recipes.
    • People seem to use 5-15% add back depending on the flavor (some need more, some less, HIC's notes provide helpful hints on which are strong/weak).
  • No single flavor makes the flavor.
    • If you think you want blueberry, just adding blueberry won't make what you want.
    • Think of the different types of flavors within blueberry, and add those also (for instance: something lemony, and something sweet)
  • Flavor changes over time.
    • Some flavors (again search recipes to learn which) can be used for "shake and vape", what people refer to quick recipes that don't need steeping time.
    • Other flavors (most of them) need time to really soak into the juice. Otherwise if you vape immediately, it'll taste one way for a while, then completely change.
    • I've been doing 48 hour steep, browsing nic forums I see people doing 2-14 days even.
  • Not all juice is equal.
    • Apparently PG soaks and retains flavor much better than VG.
    • SO, the amount of flavor needed may vary between a recipe for all PG juice or a 50/50 (pg/vg) juice
  • Use flavors and manufacturers that are trusted in the DIY nic juice community.
    • Terms to look out for: Acetoin and Diacetyl (one is 'like' the precursor to the other)
    • Certain families of flavors ('cream' particularly) contain these compounds which are classified harmful (though contained in far greater quantities in all cigarettes).
    • Reputable flavor manufacturers have removed them from their process and flavors, some are not so transparent (I've noticed a lot of respect for FlavorArt brand, so that's what I'm exploring first, but I'm very interested to hear anyone's knowledge on the subject)

I condense as much concentrates into as little VG as possible, so I'm sure I'll get as much actives with every hit I take making it as useful if not more so than vapor from a dry herb hit.

Recipe (the flavor drops are ~ half the size of the mixer drops):
1/2g Alien OG shatter
40 drops HT (philosopher)
40 drops HT (couch lock)
5 drops pineapple (FA)
5 drops lemon sicily (FA)
5 drops mandarin
Ok, this one was a hit. Really nice recipe. I'm quote posting it to remember and to verify it's a keeper. I actually added extra drops of HT to get to a full 5:1 ratio (before flavor additive) so I modified the quote. Tastes delicious, not overpowered from any of the flavor additions, just tastes like really excellent cannabis. The super pungent OG shatter adds a lot to the flavor of this recipe, even diluted down 5:1, but I still think it's a winner with any concentrate.

I'm sold on 5:1 ratio also. I was liking 3:1 but it was quite strong and I noticed that I would thin it down a couple of times before finishing the tank anyway. I like to have about a dozen puffs for a session, so 5:1 is perfect for me. I'm actually using a 1.5 ohm coil still (finishing my replacements). The vapor is completely cool, I don't feel it at all, just so much flavor. And the vapor volume is low enough for stealth use if necessary, I just take short toke. I love using sub ohm, the 0.5 ohm coil I've used in this tank is super fun, but for day to day use I don't really need it. My analogy is (for me) 1.5 ohm coil is like a toking on a pocket water pipe, and 0.5 ohm is like taking big bong hits. So each has it's time and place (again, for me, everyone has their own preference).
