Discontinued The Grasshopper

@Thcgos Ive married a vapor brothers mouthpiece for their wax pen to the grasshopper to great success. It's a very durable mouthpiece I think they say it's glass. It worked very nicely at higher temps. You hold it on top just like crafty CU

Nice! Nothing beats the feeling of glass on your lips.
Once glass is small and thick enough I totally know what you mean, it's fairly durable.

Looks like more options/solutions!
Thanks for sharing. I'll probably buy one!

Coming from an absolute FAN Boy who knows from being at HL that QC issues are much improved due to new equipment, I have to say I think yours may work but is probably defective.

I think you're right. They replaced my DOA GH with a defective GH. It works, but i'm not sure it gets to 210c on 5. Feels more like 190-195c but it could be my grind, material, etc. With a fine grind I get dark ABV, but with a slightly coarser grind ABV is just a light tan. It just doesn't seem to milk like it should.

It's been a fun ride, but i've invested too much energy into this only to be letdown in the end. Sure I could RMA this one but i'm not interested in protracting the drama and wasting more money (I regret buying the extra batteries and leather sleeve now) so i'll simply cut my losses and move on.

The GH is an amazing, game changing product when it works. If you have a working GH then count your blessings! I'll re-visit my interest in this vape when I start seeing them mass produced and available in retail outlets like Puffitup!

Would you be willing to sell it to me? Dibs!

I didn't want to mention it after all the posts about it being illegal and HL's integrity, however my Warranty returned GH was also labelled as a "gift". But as mentioned, it means nothing if it's over a certain value. My returned GH was valued at $50. I did not have to pay any customs, as it did say "warranty repaired".

Would you be willing to sell it to me? Dibs!

I'd like to officially welcome @Vapetrees into the GH family! Enjoy bro, i'm sure you will love it!

Also forgot to add earlier that the hot body issue was completely my own doing by not cycling the heater off, and just leaving it on and power ripping. This further proves that this unit is just not for me, even though it is still a game changer!

Thank you bro. Sorry for all those that are waiting for theirs still. I couldn't wait and had to try it. I am still waiting for my Pre order though. I told the GF I would let her have this one when mine arrives. I was going to purchase one on eBay but it turns out the seller that's selling it for 420 is buying them all up and flipping them for A profit. I didn't want to support that so I went this route. Can't wait!:peace:

Hmm yeah, I have also received such kindly labelled goods from overseas before, & I personally really appreciate the senders intention & attempt to save me some of my hard earned dosh.

But I don't think I've ever gone online to tell everyone about it though, as drawing attention to the fact could potentially cause legal issues for the sender.

I don't wanna be that guy.

But I'm pleased to see you finally have the illusive package in your grasp @Gregori - and I look forward to hearing your thoughts - hopefully you'll be one happy overseas Hopper :)

That's a nice way to start the weekend.

Starting to realize how different vapes are suitable for different people. Doesn't mean that they are better or worse, just everyone has the right vape for their specific needs. I realize that a Cooling Unit is HUGE for me, if i'm not going through a water tool. Not sure I can vape dry without it.
.

This is the quote I missed yesterday with which I totally agree. The way you feel about the Grasshopper is the same way I feel about the mivape and the Elo (so far, I'll try your super fine grind fully packed chip method @Just Justin). They are both interesting vapes that like a great restaurant, someone will love! The difference between what I would say is a stand out vaporizer is that with the grasshopper, if you have a properly working one, you can be sure if you like it or not, unlike the Elo for example where I'm not sure I like and even though it is, I wasn't even sure it was working right (I believe that it is, I think I just don't like it and not ready to admit it yet). Anyway glad to found a home for yours and welcome to the party @Vapetrees! I would try to get a warranty on that unit though, Matt and Trevor are very serious about getting defective units out of circulation and replaced with properly working ones, which from a marketing perspective I totally get. When your product is new and the shit when working awesome, you don't want someone trying a half broken one thinking that's all there is.

Months ago I stopped in and I hadn't even noticed my grasshopper had a backend problem. It was slight but when I was there just to stop in, they wanted to test my unit, discovered the error and replaced it after I said I'd be willing to keep it till it breaks. Again I don't know what/if they have a reseller policy but they are aiming for 100% of the customers that stick with them to be not just happy but enthralled with the GH.

One thing I do think about having various vapes is that like smoking each is its own experience that is valuable in its own rite (I meant that spelling).

For example as a cigarette/joint/spliff smoker, it would make sense that the form factor of the grasshopper is compelling as it is familiar.

I realize now that the reason I liked but don't love the firefly is because I'm not really into smoking bowls either, I don't even own one I realize (which will change TODAY because I'm having a party later).

Bongs on the other hand TRES SEIS! which is why I'm loving the vivape2 with the the aquavape attachment. But my mivape and Elo may need to find a new home, if for no other reason to scratch my FF2 itch. Now i simply have too many vapes! lol

-I also tried clicking it off after each draw and continuing to draw 3-4 seconds to get the heat out of the oven. This method keeps MP much cooler but I feel get less hits off a battery, I assume it's because the heater has to fully heat up each time (waiting 30 seconds to 1 minute in between draws).

Ok this may explain why I have been noticing better battery life. I figured it had something to do with being in the car a lot last few days so having a charger accessible because I haven't had to change a battery in almost a week, but I think it's because I don't click it off between draws anymore.

Next time I'm at GHL I'll ask about it, it would make sense that like old light bulbs it takes as much energy to start it as running it all day. The theory is anecdotally supported by comparing my usage to my buddy skiing last Saturday. I cringed as he just sat there talking letting the grasshopper run between hits in the freezing cold but sure enough I had to change my battery midday and his lasted till we got back to the car ..... hmmmm

The Grasshoppers currently being shipped are all gifts. As a backer on indiegogo, you don't purchase an item, you invest in the company, and a "perk" or "gift" is what you eventually receive. Once pre-orders start shipping, it's a different ball game.

As someone who was looking for a healthier alternative to my one hitter, this is dead on. I can't fathom anything else being a better alternative (the Zion looks interesting, but I really like the GH form factor).

Have a look at the vapcap
Is great for a one hitter
I quit smoking cigs by quitting carrying a lighter around. Pax gen 1 did that for me. I used to use a bat and dugout, but I inevitable bummed a cig after combustion. Not having my own lighter always in my pocket made it harder to continually bum cig's... It worked for me...been off cig's for well over 3 years now.
Having to torch a piece in public in order to vaporize? well, vapcap looks like a crack pipe because of this.
Not just a little...it looks a LOT like a crack pipe.
The hopper is self contained, and looks exactly like a pen.
+1 hopper

Yeah get ur point
I managed to quit the fags by vaping plus using a brass pipe for a quick hit, the vapcap replaced that
That said I'm an April 15 grasshopper order so still waiting on that
I enjoy using a torch as it is close to smoking

I hear ya. Be patient! It sounds cliche because all us backers (with working units) say it, but the grasshopper is DEFINITELY worth the wait.
And to follow up on the Crafty's cooling unit trick: I've done it, and it's outstanding! I've paired it with a capsule from my Firewood 3.0, and it almost stays perfectly in place! How does the CU work? Magic? Can a cylindrical version that's flush to the hopper's body be made? I love the stealth of the hopper, and I love the functionality of the CU, but out in public I still need to go native. But that heat is very drying on my throat.
I guess that's my main complaint: once you use the hopper through glass at home it's harder to enjoy the smaller, hotter hit when out in public.
First world problem, for sure...

I can't wait
I have the mighty so will pair with that
I'm just so relieved to give up the evil tobacco
I did struggle with just straight vaping hence the pipe but I was coughing up loads with that, vapcap fills that hole perfectly

First world problem, for sure..

Or my more obnoxious version of that "Cannabis one percenter" problems ...

"Let them smoke shake"

Back here from the palace, the one thing I'm always looking for in a vape is flavor, I tend to agree with @BuzzDanklin that the firefly is champ in that category, hopefully the FF2 fixes the learning curve, if it does then I hope my palace is invested with dope bugs

Thanks for your input and welcoming. I hope it's not the case that it's defective as I wouldn't want to let it go just after getting it lol. I want to put it through its paces. It's going to be so convenient for my living situation since I'm not allowed to "smoke" cannabis inside or anywhere around the building. Technically I'm not smoking right?:science:

Not at all! :)
. I thought that living in California and renting my own Studio would make it easier to use cannabis but it's become more of a hassle. I guess they still have a negative association with weed and want to keep the place looking nice. I can't argue with that but if I'm a medical patient how can they forbid me from medicating?

Edit: SS GH just shipped thanks @biohacker it's been a pleasure Frient.

Do some people's hoppers' back ends not get warm at all? I feel like mine didn't get warm in the slightest at first, but now, by the clip ring, it *almost* gets hot... It works as it should...vaporizes well. I. A little nervous about the clip's collar becoming quite warm after just a pull or two set at around 2.5.
Is this abnormal?
Also, I think this got buried: you know how you can "trick" the hopper into thinking it's about to charge by touching the collar and click button simultaneously to a piece of metal? Well, when I accidentally did this I was able to see the short, or electrical arc, inside the backend, through the temp notches.
Anyone else notice the visible arc that comes with that metal contact?

Mine didn't get hot in the slightest during the time I had it before it broke. But I usually clicked off after every hit.
I thought I saw a spark the first time I attached the magnetic charging ring, but that was between it and the clicker, not on the inside.

Day 3 update SS Hopper #12XX

-31 chambers in
-packing only slightly more than half a chamber, I tap the side to settle the herb
-no hot back end issues at all
-charged with only the USB. Charging up fast. 10 minutes to fully USB charge after 6 consecutive draws.
-lowered temp to temp 2. Great taste and vapor but the tip is just as hot as on temp 3 thought it may be a little cooler but it's the same.
-hot tip still only real issue. to be expected with heater location.
-must use session extender with 6 consecutive hits.
-enjoying temp 2 very much.
-Did 2 chambers on temp 1 with pleasant results. Super tasty.
-starting to get the hang of it a little better.
-want to use it as a pass through because it's capable but am afraid of ruining a good thing.
-I am getting a few more draws per chamber at temp 2 and still getting 2 full chambers per battery.
-I have been taking (6) 10 second draws in a row (clicking it off at 8 seconds on draw 6 to take some heat out of the chamber) 2 separate times per chamber. 12 draws per chamber. 24 draws per battery.
-find it super easy to clean chamber and MP after each use.
-it has a super magnetic USB charger I'm making sure to pull the charger off at the base not with the wires as not to damage it (you don't yank a lamp cord by the wire you unplug it from the base)
-i have been checking each time I attach the charger and have not seen any type of arcing
-extraction on every chamber has been super consistent
-still really enjoying the grasshopper with no issues at all yet (crossing fingers)

Back to testing. Going to try it through water. Will have further results tomorrow after the Superbowl.:sherlock:
