Quitting dabs

I have found that if you want other folks to expound their experiences it is best to start with your own. People of a like mind will give "likes" and those who disagree will go point by point why.
Me? I am a sipper not a slugger so passing on dabs is easy. It helps that I have unlimited time and meds.

I did the reverse. Quit flowers. Haven't turned on my flower vape in a month or more. To me, flowers are unprocessed material. Like grapes must look to a wine enthusiast.

Remember though, everyone has different experiences of dabbing.

I'm a medical user, flowers do not suit my medical needs.

I only dab full melt bubble and amazing low temp (190f) flower and bubble hash rosin from fantastic, thoroughly cured nugs.

I find it is easy to stay away from flowers when you are not sacrificing major terps to get something dabbable. Still, might be that others like flowers for whatever reason. I don't think they shouldn't be allowed to enjoy that too ;) I still hit some flowers now and then with friends who vape! It still effects me too :)

I'm buying less flowers these days and more dabs. I don't think I could ever quit flowers forever. I enjoy the taste of vaped flowers quite a bit. But dabs are the way to go IMO. I can't ever see myself quitting dabs. If you're thinking of quitting you probably just need a tolerance break.

I didn't quit, but I switched from 95% dabbing to 95% flower. I switched because I moved back home from school. I liked dabs for school because I didn't have to worry about the smell the way I do with flowers. I also like the speed of taking dabs.

I switched back to flower because I no longer needed the stealth and speed of dabs. Not to mention since getting the vapcap and a log, I get faster sessions which don't get me missing the fast sessions that dabbing gives.

Another little thing that annoys me about dabbing is that I feel like I can taste any contaminants more than with flower. This is not from the oil, I'm comparing a dab of high quality oil to vaping high quality bud. I'm talking just the contaminants from the environment. If a tiny fiber gets on a dab I feel like I can feel that in my throat harsher than if a tiny fiber gets vaped along with bud. I think it has to do with the direct vaporization method used for dabs.

I still like oil, but only when I make it. I can only really trust what I see, I know I can't see ppm of residuals. When I use both oil and bud I find it can be harder to keep my tolerance in check than if I use just bud or just oil... weird.

If I had access to full melt bubble this post would not apply, and I'd probably vape FMB exclusively. I've always loved hash, it's just dabbing that I find can be a little harsh on the throat. I like thick vapor, but with dabbing sometimes the oil gets a little burnt, which is why I prefer to vape oil over dabbing it. If I had an e-nail or decent technique I'd change my mind on that too.

I use a timer app on my phone. Heat nail, start timer, dab when timer finishes. Different nails require different cool down times. Once you get that dialed in, great taste and consistency are yours!

Haha.. my original post had my dab story. I thought it was too much so I removed it and just left the question

Also quit flowers for dabs. Might buy them if I could go to a store, but not being able to see them first it is much easier to just stick to reliable extract companies.

I'm actually somewhat surprised to see this, last time I remember a thread like this, people were predominately flowers and the majority who used oils were flower people too.

It seems like more people are gravitating toward concentrates than I thought!

With many states becoming legal ppl have a safe access before you would have to make yourself
also for many ppl flowers no longer has the effect it used too.

And last no one has the time to wait to get high so now the routine is takes a few dabs than start vaping while doing other stuff like .......movies, sex, games ,chores etc.

I've quit flowers and vaping for edibles and a couple of dabs if I need them. It's funny but you notice immediately the 'extra' stuff that's in vaped flower and it almost tastes like it's tainted no matter the quality even though I know it's not.

My consumption in general has gone down and on top of that the volume you have to ingest goes down by somewhere in the order of 80% if you look at the strain's thc yield, much healthier all round imho.

My state has greater penalties for concentrates, so that's not encouraging me to use them. Flowers have the same effect they used to, if I vape some quality flowers, they work just fine. My routine for dabbing takes at least as much time as for flower, maybe more

That last line does sum up a major pro of concentrates. It was not a motivator originally for my shift, but I have regained GARGANTUAN amounts of my life back from using concentrates. I don't have time for a 'session' most of the time, also don't have time to wait for a vape to heat up.

A solid enail means that one can saunter over to their dab rig at a leisurely pace, slowly sit down (groaning loudly to an extent commensurate with age), put a dab on the dabber and take a single hit that'll give you the goods that the entire bowl of flowers would normally give you after 10-15 minutes of vaping - and the kicker is you still got another 10-12 minute's dividend :D

More actives to the dome, less time spent being glued to the rig for most of the day. ;)

I cut down on dabs. Wasn't really agreeing with me. Also the volume I was consuming went up so I felt the raise in tolerance was a bit annoying. I still will, and do, but mostly I just vape flower or occasionally combust. Different flows for different shows I suppose.

I mostly prefer flowers, but I use concentrates as a special treat. I have noticed after several days of dabbing, my tolerance goes south.

I'm also mildly concerned about dabbing and lungs. I've heard reports of lipid pneumonia after heavy dabbing.

I doubt I'm in danger but I already have asthma, so I am concerned.

I love dabs... for the amazing taste but I feel like it's a waste of good medecine sometimes. I explain, effects kick me but are not as durable as a good flower session and not the same (less body effect imo).

I quasi stopped my wax vape pens use(except for the Hercule at home and the Evolve plus when I go to a restaurant) and power on my e-nail for some dabs 4-5 times per week. I enjoy a bit of wax in my Prima too...

Actually I'm dealing with some rather good compressed kief as a concentrate, I was thinking to turn it in shatter or rosin but I like the stoney effect the original product offers!

Although I could be agree with Herbivore too cause the bigger cons of vaping flowers is the time, since I begun to vape I spent a lot more time to vape (and to go on FC) than in my combustion days I was to smoke....I think concentrates could help to save some time here.

i havent bought flowers in months. my cannabis use is 100% concentrates and has been for a while now. i see a lot of users saying their tolerance goes up from using concentrates, but IMO it doesnt have to.

i have never owned a "nail". all of my concentrate usage is done via a temp controlled ecig mod, rda, and special coils. with this setup i can not only load a large dab and choke myself out, but i can also load conservatively and sip on it like you sip on flowers. you do not HAVE to use large amounts when using concentrates. as others have stated already dabbing can be such a waste. its already concentrated. you dont need to take the largest dab possible. you exhale sooooo much wasted goodness when doing this.

say a standard dab is about the amount of a gram of herb. so if you normally dont vape a gram of herb at a time then why on earth would you do a whole dab in one rip? this will absolutely raise your tolerance. next time just do a 1/2 of a dab. or even less. sure your exhale wont be a monster cloud, but is that necessary? seems like its more for show.

in short... if youre considering discontinuing the usage of concentrates because of a tolerance raise then consider just taking smaller dabs or vaping the dabs a different way.

i sip on concentrates all the time. works for me.

Hey Texas - LEGALIZE IT!!
I haven't "quit" per se, but I've definitely cut down on dabs. Most of my friends are flowers-only, and it feels somewhat anti-social to pass on their flower and enjoy my dabs instead. That said, I still enjoy sipping on concentrates and don't see myself cutting it out 100%.

I quit for a week and have been on edibles only as I have non-mj friendly company over. Luckily I still get good relief, but I sure do miss those oozey cbd rich dabs. So fast and tastey. Tomorrow is the reunion! =)

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

This time I'm trying to keep my oil use to when I'm out, and my bud use when I'm in. I find that when I use oil to supplement bud, or as a way of increasing my high, my tolerance jumps and I want to quit. When I use it as a tool to vape at times I wouldn't have been able to in the past I find I don't go overboard. Now that I don't drink it's nice being able to step outside the bar and take a dab every once and a while. I wouldn't normally try that with bud.
