Vapman

Away with the fairies
I just found a nice little bit of squidgy I'd stashed away and had forgotten all about - happy days! Yum! Hash tastes so, so good with the Vapman.

Could I love my Vapman any more than I already do? Nope - not possible!

:love:Love you long time Little Fella

I used a Vapman for the last 2 months until I bought a PD. Here are my thoughts.

Pros:
Small and portable, heats up almost instantly, uses a torch lighter, small bowl, easy to use, no electricity required, quality piece

Cons:
Small bowl (yes this is a pro and a con depending if I vape by myself), overpriced

There are a few tricks to using it efficiently. The material needs to be dry and ground up fairly well. Fill to slightly less than the brim and loose. Buy a good torch lighter. Heat the tip of the bowl with the tip of the hot blue part of the flame. Count ONE - TWO and remove the heat for a few seconds. Use the flame again - ONE - TWO and start inhaling. The next time apply the flame ONE TWO THREE and remove it and inhale. Always inhale slowly and then hold it. Repeat this up to a total of 5 times. About the third time you will be getting serious vapors. Never apply heat for more than 3 seconds.

In short the design works well.

I use mine a bit differently. I find that moist, or sticky herb still works fine. The thc will vaporize regardless of moisture content. Just heat longer for moister material maybe. The amount of time applying heat depends on the lighter and size of the flame you're using. I heat 2-3 seconds, pause then 5-8 seconds depending on material. I don't find that you have to inhale slowly. I inhale like I was smoking a pipe. I also get serious vapor on the first draw, then after the second time heating and inhaling it's pretty much spent. Might get a wispy 3rd hit.

no max....this is not a myth....do you know bic lighters?in my short butane experience sometimes flame fails and i can appreciate a awful butane taste that make me sick....i'm agnostic...i do believe only to my senses!

no hate to butane vapes just too low-grade for me....too crack head....just my :2c:

I kind of understand the crackhead look you're talking about. Virtually everyone who has access to oil has dabbed and many people dab exclusively, so I think it's become more normal to see people hitting vaping devices like this. Huffing out of a volcano/eq/herbalizer bag isn't the best look either.

The results aren't low grade at all. When done right you'll get vapor that rivals, and is better than some portables. You're experience with bic lighters is irrelevant. The vapman uses a torch lighter and won't work with a bic. At the temperature a torch lighter burns, you're left with co2 and h20. Inhaling something heated with a bic lighter is unhealthy because the butane isn't completely burned, so there's butane, soot... left over. Butane exists in our environment anyway from burning gasoline and other shit.

Ok, I received 2 vapmans for crucible replacement.

They were in pretty bad shape. Seems to me that they had been subjected to too much heat and the inside was charcoal.

Although I was only charging for the crucible replacement, I got carried away and did a number on the two vapmans...

I'm going to have to charge extra for a restoration jobs like this from now on because it takes too much time.

I just can't leave a helpless vapman alone! Haha

I don't think you can see the "charcoalized" inside of the ring in the before pics, but here they are:

Who ever says the vapman has a butane taste or Crack headed appearance is fucking tripping...the vapman is a God damn monster...a beast of great flavor and a sturdy sustainable budd quality...an all day winner if you will.

Moist material only works okay and it cooks bottom heavy ime...

If I do vape more moist material, I usually vape two cycles with less flame application...

Whenon the load is a bit drier, I finger crumble it and do a higher temp hit, works perfect for my style of consumption.

The same for me. I love to vape fresh weed, especially with fruity aromes like, f.i. mango.

Herbs they are gone too dry in the container, I moister up with some few drops of distilled water. It helps me to cough less and to have a deeper air temperature, what's better for my lungs. ;-)

folk need to realise the Vapman is not drawn through at the same time the torch is applied to heat it,
Otherwise, men can stop to shave the schnauzer, if direcly inhaled without a water tool. :D

folk need to realise the Vapman is not drawn through at the same time the torch is applied to heat it, so, it is impossible to have any taste/gas in the air path; you torch-stop-inhale :)

Good point. However, for those who don't own one and are looking for a reason for that it's sure an easy excuse to fall back on, right? Makes them sound more health conscious or at least smarter/more sophisticated by being smart enough to avoid 'breathing in Butane'. Either because it's toxic or they just don't like the taste.

In the big picture of substance abuse Butane is right up there. IIRC it's the number one thing to 'huff' in the UK? We're talking frostbite from blowing it directly in their mouths..... That appears to be the extent of the hazards, however, Butane is not poison. If they can take in huge amounts I don't see a need to fear a small amount, say spilled in filling a lighter, let alone imaginary toxic stuff coming out of the flame.

Still a guy's got to be comfortable with the process and if avoiding Butane is their way it's good for them? I think they're missing out on a real treat of course, but it's one of those 'lead a horse to water' things?

True that OF! When I first started hearing the Whispers of flame powered vapes, that's what my electro-snobbish ass used to think!

Butane stinks, it's unhealthy, you have to fill up the lighters constantly and the list goes on...

After getting the VG coil (which I still have mixed feelings about AND I can't find it)
I saw the potential and it gave me the courage to try others...

Now that I have, I feel like any true 'combustion fucker' should have at least one flame powered vape in the line up.

It creates an effect no battery powered vape can mimic.

I regret not getting into flame powered vapes sooner.

It is the abundance of power & heat available that set them apart from electronic vapes, no worries about batteries failing or draining, software or circuitry faults etc, their simplicity is their Ace card.

edit; the warm touch on one's leg as the middle section gets a wipe, post bowl, is the Vapman's reassuring handshake, as it emotes “till next time, old friend“ - yes, I'm post bowl :)

Great to read that the washers are actually arriving in you letter boxes, thanks for the feedbacks!

Regarding the topic of using butane and propane with vaporizers, I still and never really understood the concerns of using liquid gas for this purpose. I don't want to stand on anyones toes but what is the difference between cooking your meal on a gas stove or oven and using the same gas for heating up the herbs with a vaporizer. Did ever anyone concerned about it, tasted butane when eating the food?

I am by all means not cynical about it, I just don't get the point or do I miss something because I am stupid?:hmm:

That is definitely gonna be the funniest thing that I hear all day!

No, no you don't miss a thing René. And I totally agree with you. But some other butane powered vapes do require you to draw on them, while at the same time heating the load with a butane torch. Some people find this concerning, however, I believe with a properly functioning torch the vapor produced in these devices can be as pure as that which is deliverable from any available vaporizer.

But that's my stance. And I'm totally with you too. There are far more worrisome nasties to he concerned about in our everyday lives imo.

Ah happy daze! :D

Have a great week folks!

I think many who claim to be able to taste Butane or are using it as an excuse are working on that idea? They want you to feel dumb for not following their advice (notice how many cite non existent health issues?), or at least intend to dismiss your view it's safe based on your mental abilities.

It's easy to ignore stupid/crazy people.

They fear a device that takes in Oxygen and hydrocarbons and emits CO2 and water vapor.....much like you and I do? And 'they' as well, of course.......along with the horse they rode in on.....

I don't think we need to worry about those posts on the last page about butane taste, they are from 2008 and are from the very first page in this thread :sherlock:.

EDIT: It has been a while since I have used my beloved Vapman and even longer since I was in this thread - it will get a session tonight I promise!

Be assured such claims/excuses are still out there......like the proverbial bad penny?

My concern is some innocents might be taking such talk seriously and therefore avoid VM. It's not right some guy is denied the joy of VM ownership because someone else is flinging bad information about to cover their own tracks?

Reliable information to support informed choices is what we should be about IMO.

I just arrived in this thread, as well as the Vapcap thread, so I haven't read a single page - but noticed the posts above about butane. I was one of those paranoid freaks worrying about inhaling or smelling butane, but after my test drive with the Supreme3 yesterday, all I care about now are torch powered vapes! Not a single detection of butane or smell whatsoever.

So if I LOVE the SV3, would the Vapman be something I should consider? Or is it too easy to ruin a load like the Lotus? The SV3 had zero learning curve, and every hit was as sweet and massive as the first.

What about the Vapcap? How does it compare to the Vapman?

Thanks in advance! I really need some decent off the grid vapes!

What's up @biohacker?!?! Fancy seeing you here...

I see all those mentions of flame powered vapes finally paid off!

I have never seen or heard of the supreme3 but the vapman is a great off the grid vape. I even use it on the grid, it's versatile as fuck.

I overcook a load about 3% of the time and it's mostly when I'm trying to crank huge clouds for water rips.

The ceremonial heat-wait-heat-wait-heat-hit style of this vaporizer makes it easy to master for everyone's individual preferences.

It also handles concentrates like a champ.

And with the vapman, you can purchase the station to make it on grid as well, alot of folks love theirs.

Welcome to flame powered heaven!

Thanks bro! DEFINITELY hit up the Supreme thread.... it's been a game changer for me! It actually has a thermometer built in so every hit can be precise digitally! Always flawless perfect ABV.

I'll be doing alot of reading on the Vapman and watching videos! Same with the vapcap! But if they are too similar to Lotus, then I think i'll move on.... just because the Supreme is so good. I love vapes that are about 80% convection and 20% conduction.

A digital readout on the vapman would be overkill.

I know when I see whispy vapor creeping up the straw I know it's a low temperature hit, if I heat blast it again, the vapor gets thicker and is about medium

If I blast it again and I see vapor pouring out I'm in high temperature zone.

You don't need a digital readout when you develop such an intimate relationship with a device.

It has been my daily driver, over the mighty for some time now...
