DHgate would be your cheapest option but for more local (USA) glass dealers are Thick Ass Glass.com, Smokecartel.com, and Retroactivesmokeshop.com are some of the dealers I've bought from. Can anyone recommend any specific online head shops to order glass from? I was thinking about purchasing from dankstop.com but I have yet to hear reviews for them. Thanks.
In my opinion, I prefer 18mm for greater airflow. However depending on the size and function of your rig, you may not need 18mm. If it's a decent size rig that you need to clear in one hard pull, 18mm will benefit you more. If it's a small oil rig you'll be fine with 14mm.Great, thanks for the info. Another quick question - do you recommend getting a bubbler/bong that has a 18mm or a 14mm joint? I have an adaptor for both sizes, but I'm wondering if there is a benefit to getting a glass piece that has 18mm as opposed to 14mm for use with a vaporizer.
Thanks
So I just received the G-line to Imperial from HFY Glass aka Phoenix Glass. Compared to my more expensive rigs this one doesn't feel cheap at all. It has nice weight to it, the glass is thick not just on mouthpiece and base. Still some minor imperfections but at this price range I think that's irrelevant. I have a video to contribute on how it functions. I used a dropdown and nail to show how the filtration operates under a lot of restriction. This nail specifically has very restricted flow due to the narrow opening. The pulls I did without the nail were to show function with free flow while pulling the hardest I could. This thing performs like a champ, virtually no splash back whatsoever, maybe a tiny drop after 10 pulls. The filtration works as it should even under restricted airflow. Not even my Matrix percs filtrate this good under slow pulls.
Yes, I love it ! That's what I wanted for a long time : an easily cleanable glass set up ! I thought I would not use the ash catcher part, but I liked the fact I could see the vapor forming in it if put on the side. So for that matter I would have prefer a different mouthpiece.Has anyone tried the FC-Mod?
I would say the *drag* mostly resembles my David Goldstein Rooster Apparatus. It feels like a lot of filtration is going on but it maintains a high flow of air regardless. Little drag at all with lots of filtration, just like my Rooster.also this looks very nice. do you have any other pieces you could compare the drag to?
I don't own a d020 but I do have a small oil rig with similar design and I can confirm those dropdowns with steep angle will not work, even with an 18mm extender. It barely doesn't clear the bottom of the dropdown due to the wide top of the rig. You will need this one instead + an 18mm male to 18mm female adapter to bring it away from that wide base.I also found this, Would this work to catch a good amount of reclaim : http://www.dhgate.com/store/product...371024985.html?recinfo=1,5,1#cpspd-1-5|null:5
I don't know if this adapter will be able to clear the ridge of the d020 but I know something out there will work. I know using the evo on this setup I'll have to hold and support the weight of the Evo and not have it just suspended on its own; I don't think that would be an issue. My main concern is collecting most of the 'reclaim' with ease to dab with.
Any suggestions or comments would be much appreciated as I don't know a whole lot about glass.
I really like this one too- http://www.dhgate.com/store/product/sovereignty-glass-gline-to-imperial-18mm/270254463.html
As you said, it protects the rig from excess heat but it just makes it easier to collect reclaim. Also helps keep your rig cleaner for longer periods of time. After one session, my rig looks clean while the dropdown looks like it's been through a lot.
A dropdown can also get your nail away from your face so you can see it when dabbing and don't burn your nose.
If you plan on smoking the reclaim anyway, like myself, I don't mind it. I don't think the reclaim gets hot enough to vaporize and enter your rig. After numerous hits back to back at high temp the reclaim liquefies but it doesn't vaporize. I would suggest new smokers they only need a dropdown if they intend to keep their rigs clean or if they intend to collect reclaim. Other than that you won't need it unless you have a really small oil rig and a big nail in your face when hitting it.Yeah, but if you just get a smaller rig, with no drop down, you get to inhale all that vapor.
True. Never understood why so many rigs put the nail so close. I think something like this, or this, are just better designs. Better aesthetically too. I swear, kids are being introduced to dabbing, who think they need a dropdown, like a necessity, even when they don't have an enail.
Unless you collect reclaim out of your rig each and every time, you are wasting oil anyway. Even small sized rigs collect reclaim inside the chamber/water, that is inevitable. Most people don't collect the reclaim in their small rigs because they don't know the process of drying it out, they would rather just clean the rig and waste it.Okay, not wanting to start an argument here, but......reclaim starts out as vapor....that you want to inhale. That's the point. Getting the concentrate into your system. When vapor condenses, it becomes a solid again.
The longer and cooler the path the vapor takes, the more it condenses. Condensing your vapor before it enters your rig is fine, if that floats your boat. That's why rigs were originally quite small, with golf ball sized chambers.
Yes, just mentioned the other thread in case anyone wants to discuss it further. This thread is for glassIt's ok, I don't think this is an issue that needs resolve. Just preference, isn't it?
I bought a 710 whip, but was rarely able to get a good dab. Low temps are nice, but it felt like I was just taking whispy mixes of my wax mixed with whatever the last wax I smoked. And then I tied the coil too tight to make it hotter and it cracked the dish With the Gimido stuff getting so cheap I'll probably just grab one of those.i have the 'dropdown' shown above and a D020, they mount up fine, but are purely a horizontal move of the joint as they do not lower the height at all. I am have been running the 710 whip directly on the D020 for the past few months and cant complain

I personally find my D020D to be a pretty low-reclaim device compared to some other stuff I've had, but it's not really a concern for most people that smoke enough wax to get a lot of claim.
I wonder if steven would ever consider making the FC-UFO in an even larger size. At that point it would resemble a hookah
Yeah, it has the ceramic cap with the hole on top if I understand correctly. I pulled one or 2 awesome dabs on it but honestly, the nail experience isn't for me. It's harder for me to concentrate on real life when I'm primarily using wax, it has significantly higher addictive properties IMHODid your 710 whip have the 'dab cap' top on it? I think that is the key to getting serious dabs on it. I have been lusting over the liger banger for a while now, but cant talk myself into moving on from the 710 whip as of yet.
On another note, my faux FTK from Seller2020 just processed through chicago and is on its way to me now. Hopefully I will have a full report on it sometime next week.
