I owe you one my friend. Thanks for taking the time, I don't think the Alfa is the right portable for me, and now swinging back to maybe just riding out the GH. Cheers!

No problem , save you some money. I am still waiting on my gh , of course the company keeps telling me i will get it every month and changes there mind lol. I grabbed a firewood to hold me off , heats up in about 5-10 seconds also. Anyway if you did not like the pax 2 much , Alfa is very similar , both are good vapes but the edge went to my pax 2 after many hours of fun with both.

I'm going to go the other way and suggest the Alfa. They are very similar vapes, though. I'm surprised that someone finds cleaning on the Pax better, in particular, because I found the opposite. The Alfa needed to be cleaned less often, its vapor suffered less from neglecting to clean it, and it is about as simple a process as is possible. Just run a pipe cleaner with some iso up the vapor path then rub it around the oven a bit and you're done.

I also had no issue when I sent my Alfa in to be repaired. They ended up just sending me a new unit and I had it in my hands in a week to the day that I sent mine out.

Either way you'll get a solid unit that is one tier short of top-shelf. I do prefer convection and think the draw resistance on both the Pax 2 and Alfa could be better, but if you're after a stealthy conduction unit, these are the two I'd suggest. The Pax definitely wins on warranty, though, being ten years vs the Alfa's two, so definitely keep that in mind.

edit: Somehow I missed the last couple comments when I posted, so feel free to disregard my pseudo-advice.

Pax 2 i find the cleaning a bit easier over the Alfa , Pax 1 was more of a pain. I actually think draw resistance is a bit better with the Alfa . Alfa is harder to load , oven is a drop smaller compared to pax 2 and as for cleaning they both are not very hard but pax 2 is easier to me as there is no pin in the oven to get in my way and that oven door that gets in the way flapping back and fourth as i am cleaning , it was a tiny bit of a pain. Not something that would really persuade me to purchase one over the other but the 10yr warranty with pax2 is great and i am happy you had a easy warranty experience but i def did not.

Hi everyone.

I got my alpha this morning and I did a 5minute burn in. While it was heating it was flashing green so i assumed it is fully charged. The light turned solid green after a minute or so.

A couple hours later i wanted to use it for real. So it loaded it up and set to medium and went for a walk. I walked around my block twice, which took like 2mins, and it just kept blinking which has got me worried. After a while i just hit it and it was deffo was producing heat as there was a smell and slight flavour. After like 2minutes of non stop green blinking i switched off and came home. Open up the alfa and my load was slightly brown.

Its charging now so i will try it later. You guys recon its faulty?

So I got a nice deal on the Alfa in a bundle for a BNIB one so it looks like i'll be taking it on a test drive at least! Even if I just use it at home with a water tool, i'll be happy!

Hi everyone! I've been lurking these forums over the past month. And after hearing great things about the Alfa, I decided to purchase one. I've had it for about a week now and, as my first vaporizer purchase, I have had an awesome experience so far. Some impressions so far:
  • Quality, good tasting vapor. It's really nice to be able to taste my material when on "Low" setting". Even more impressive is the amount of vapor that is produced when the oven is fully packed.
  • Easy draw resistance. I don't have to draw very hard to get vapor and the amount of vapor I get from drawing for about 1-2 seconds can be impressive, depending on the setting and how much is packed.
  • The heating pin in the oven really helps to evening heat all of the material inside, pretty much eliminating the need to stir inside the oven during a session. The pin also does a good job at keeping material in place.
  • I can pack the oven only halfway full if I only want to get slightly lifted, which I prefer. It doesn't produce as much vapor per draw as a fully packed oven, but it gets the job done.
  • The form-factor is discreet, light and easy to pocket. I can't wait to sneak this baby into a music venue or festival.
  • The battery life is satisfactory for me. I can't say whether it runs between 1 1/2 - 2 hrs on a full charge, but my guess is that I can get somewhere between 3-5 full sessions before the battery gets low. I'd say it runs about 1 hour if using all three regular heat settings during sessions. But I can't be certain without tracking my vape sessions under a full charge. As for the charging time, I don't see it as a problem so long as I plan ahead. And the ability the vape while charging somewhat makes up for it.
  • The Alfa stays pretty clean after a couple sessions. And cleaning the unit is fairly easy, though I haven't found an easy way to clean the bottom of my oven. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
As my first vaporizer, the Alfa feels like a luxury item to me. I've been partaking far more frequently than usual this past week because I just can't get enough of this thing. I would definitely recommend this vaporizer for anyone looking to buy their first vape, or for anyone who doesn't want to pay more than $200 for a portable herb vaporizer. I was originally considering the Vapium Summit for the price, but wasn't a huge fan of the form-factor. I saw the Afla, did some research (mostly here), and found it selling for $20 off, with a decent grinder. I bought it from a non-authorized seller (http://www.lighterusa.com/alfa-vaporizer-by-goboof-grinder.html) so I'm hoping any repairs needed in the future won't be too much of a pain. So far, so good!

Welcome to FC! Great writeup and first post! The alfa isn't my first vape, i've owned a tonne of vapes over the past decade, and it definitely isn't my first portable. I tested it out, and was very disappointed so perhaps i'm doing something wrong? I found filling the bowl to be kind of a nightmare.... they really need to include a tamping tool with a hole in the middle or something? I think I first filled the oven not full enough, because I wasn't getting much vapour, but then I filled and trying tamping it some and received slightly better results. I used the medium temp setting, and then the highest one because low wasn't producing anything. But then it got hot and harsh and the ABV was ridiculously dark. I don't think that conduction devices are for me.

I much, MUCH, prefer the Mighty and Crafty to this.... perhaps it works similar to a Pax2 which I didn't enjoy due to the draw technique/puffing and I prefer longer type draws.

So only used this one ONCE, and it's on the chopping block, which is a new record for me! lol Grasshopper lands today or tomorrow, and if that doesn't do the trick for my portable needs, i'll have to get another Crafty (or Boundless CFX pending reviews).

I will mention that the Alfa is an amazing size for a portable with a rapid heatup, and great airflow, but it's just not for me.

Damn, looks like i'll be doing some more testing then! Must it be packed tight I assume? Loose isn't the way to go here since it's conduction yeah?

Never thought about using the mouthpiece to tamp! However, isn't the mouthpiece supposed to fit a 14mm connection? I tried with a 14mm Water Tool and didn't have much success. It fit sort of, but goes in to far and then is a bitch to take out. Guess I need to pay with it some more!

Yes you can make the tamping with a lot of different stuff. I use a glass stem at home and a simple toothpick or mouthpiece on the go.
How I do it : grind and use a "paper/card/ticket" creased in 2 for easy filling. Then I will tamp down, fill more, etc.. and last : put the screen on top to sandwich.
I use it regularly and it's the only Ninja vape from my line-up but I wouldn't consider it a must for : taste, easy cleaning & efficiency.
Welcome @AJ900

Stay charged, my friends
I personally would never use the mouthpiece to tamp...wouldn't it get tiny bits all over it? I posted earlier my method which works beautifully. I hand drilled the small end of a cork, it fits over the heating pin and tamps a half load or full load beautifully. The perfect size cork (and tube for material storage) is made in Ontario, Daneson's toothpicks. Plus, my colleagues get the benefit of jazzing me over my arsenal toothpicks..

follow up:
sent in the defective unit to Florida, no contact for three weeks until a email with a tracking number came yesterday that has something shipping to me which originates in Nevada.
I wish someone let me know whats going on, sounds like a new unit is on the way.

I had been using my pinky top rolled around the top of the oven. This worked to tamp it down well, even when the oven was hot. I used a toothpick to clean out the hot oven. The toothpick also helps to pull the accumulated material out of the slot the oven door's lock slides into. I have read (here I think) that someone used a wine cork with a hole cut into the middle as a tamper.

Told you buddy. I tried to help. Now that you got it , try packing it super tight , that always worked for me with a medium to fine grind and also make sure your material is pretty dry also. I liked my alfa after i had a bit of experience with it for awhile but i prefer the pax2 for many reasons over it that is why i have moved on. Ofcourse they both cant touch the mighty though. Also if you flip the mp it will mate decently to 14mm .

Yep, but I got a good deal on it so had to try it to scratch that VAS itch! lol

I can't get it to mate with ANY of my 14mm joints! Perhaps the tolerance on my mouthpiece is off....it's too small, or doesn't seal because it's not long enough....who knows, but it definitely doesn't allow a seal on mine.

Don't really care that much, Grasshopper just arrived!

Finished off my testing last night....not really sure what to say, other than this vape just isn't for me. Thanks for the help fellas, i'll be over in the mighty/crafty/boundless cfx and maybe grasshopper threads.

The Alfa taste very nice on low (and not only for the first hits) and produces great clouds on med (even bigger on high), it's the stealthier vape I own, I use it especially on the go but it is easy to connect to a water tool if needs, I keep the mp in normal way and connect it to a male 14 or 18mm glass joint...it's not handfree but not an issue for me....Sorry you don't like it Biohacker!

I wouldn't even consider the summit, it's pretty unreliable.

so, I'd get the haze if you want to use concentrates and herb, the pax 2 if you want something discreet and have the money, and the alfa if you want something discreet and don't have as much money.

I am curious to read your GH review!

How does the battery life of the Alfa compare to the Pax 2?

Sold my GH! Wasn't for me either! :rofl:Ended up with a Supreme v3 torch vape, and happier than a kid in a candy store.

Sorry I can't help with the battery life question, as i've never owned a Pax2, and didn't use the Alfa to find out.

Sold my Alfa, I couldn't bear the mouth irritation from the insane heat it produces on medium, and the low setting is all but useless.
I rate five other portables higher than this, which I have owned or do own - Haze V3, Firewood, Pax 2, Arizer Air and the good old Solo - never burned my lips or mouth like this did.
