As I thought they're be aiming for the top of the market price wise. Not for me at that price point. I could see paying that much if it was made in a western country though, due to higher labor costs and environmental regulations.

I'm sure the success of the S&B Crafty had something to do with choosing the $329 price point. Too bad they didn't keep it under $300.

The price does kind of defeat that "gee wiz we're throwing in an extra battery thing," but I'm still probably getting one. Hopefully, I'll be able to pre-order the first batch. I'm moving to Seattle in a few months and need a toy : ).. This will be my first and only vaporizer and I think it fits my needs more than the Pax. I'd like to go with the Crafty but the 2 year warranty and battery issues are scaring me away.

Ya if only they had changed the battery's. I'm not interested in spending top dollar if it's not the top of the food chain in all aspects. And no one can say with out a shadow of a doubt that that issue was addressed and fixed. A set of 18650s go for around 12$ give or take a buck or 2. And can their battery come close to compare to these. If so then they have done what no one else can do. IMO.
It can be very upsetting only being able to order a battery for a vaporizer online. I bought 3 battery's for my ff1 and 2 were useless from the start and the other is good for a session and a half. Maybe. I think they have addressed everything except the most important part in my eyes. I do like the looks of it compared to the first edition if that matters.

The only think I dont like about it is the orange light. Not something easy to hide if you don't wanna call attention while walking on the street...

The video posted by Machine Elf makes it sound like they actually reworked the batteries to get better battery life, not just improved the algorithms. Is that what you were looking for? I'm sure there's some sort of embargo on those review units, but maybe we'll get some leaks as beforehand about battery improvements.

It glows brightly early in the heating process. Once the unit is heating for awhile the glow is quite subdued....this has something to do with the coil running more efficiently but I'm not sure I totally followed the explanation. :lol: Anyway you can have the thing cranking pretty hotly on the high setting and still have very little glow much of the time.

That's pretty cool. I'm pretty pumped for this bad boy. If the first was loved, I'm sure this will be too, besides the price being an issue. If you get the skinny on when the pre-orders are going live, or see them go live, be sure to let us know! I want to be on that first wave!

I mean the Firefly was never what you'd call "stealth" not every vape has to be. This one is certainly more portable among other things...

And $329 sounds about right to me considering this is seemingly very improved v2 from a now very established high end vaporizer company. Just like Pax2 saw the increase, but this seems far more worthy of it imo, and its more $299 with a $30 battery included, as many like me would always have wanted with it anyway :2c:

Looking forward to your expert take on the first wild production unit @BuzzDanklin!

$330 with 2 batteries? Definitely in for that price. Imo anyone expecting lower price than ff1 is just wishful thinking. Sure I wish it was $199 or whatever, but after using the FF1, its very clearly a premium device. There are plenty of cheap vapes but the firefly was the purest I've tasted flavor wise. This brings a lot more to the table. Combine this with me no longer waiting for a Zion, definitely in for one. Firefly has done me right before.

How many of those are 770s vs the admittedly defective first generation? My first gens suck besides one or 2. The 770 is good as the day I got it. If this is generation 3 I suppose, I'll be happy. I get 3-4 bowls on the 770

One things for sure the flavor with the ff was always damn good. The shape and feel of it was always nice. Had some very good pros and same time some pia cons. Not unlike any other vaporizer out there. For sure. It will be cool to see the reviews on the next generation ff.

I highly doubt that they are manufacturing the batteries themselves. It's OEM and AFAIK there hasn't been any recent and commercially available break-through in energy density for this kind of chemistry. I might be wrong, but this would mean they sourced a very novel tech that will cost an arm... or two...

The device can consume less and be smarter, the heater can be improved, but if a cell is XXX mAh it will not magically change its capacity. But it's perfectly possible that said capacity increased over the previous 770's, for instance by allowing a lower cutoff etc (like Arizer did for the Air IIRC?)

Right. I doubt they reinvented the wheel, but she made a point of stating that the batteries had been reworked. There's more to the battery than mAH, and maybe it's possible that they found a better/more reliable supplier. What I mean is, if you walk into an auto parts store, there's 15 batteries that fit your car and are all fundementally the same. You don't (usually) buy the cheapest one because you know in six months you'll probably need a new one, especially if it gets too cold or too hot. The chemistry is the same but the better manufacturer provides a battery that's more reliable and has the ability to last longer. Do I buy the knock-off AAs or the Duracell. Same chemistry, different results.

It's not just about the batteries. The way the heating coil and the device itself generates and holds heat is much more efficient...a lot less energy is required to be drawn from the battery per hit. That's one of the reasons the orange glow is so subdued once the device is warmed up....it's actively drawing less power from the battery while still delivering heat to the material and vapor to your mouth.

Yea, it sounds like they reworked the whole deal. I wasn't trying to be inflamatory, just saying it's possible the batteries themselves are better even at the same mAh. The batteries were mentioned by the two spokespeople in the video and it was something people were asking questions about on here. I'm pumped for this thing.

It says the buttons been replaced by touch sensors, how has that worked out for anyone, 2 maybe lol, that has one? Has caused any accidental heatings? And will it work with gloves on?
