Discontinued Zion vaporizer

Farkas

Do you know about the bird?
Even though I don't yet own either vape yet (soon to change, though), I caught a rerun of "The Matrix" this past weekend. To jog the memory of those here, in the movie Zion was the last human city on Earth and was located deep underground. Keanu Reeves played Thomas Anderson, with the hacker alias of Neo, and was prophesized as "The One" who was to save humanity. So, naturally, I figured a cool name for my Zion (once purchased) would therefore be Neo. But it might be a nice handle for the single battery vape RBT has in the works....

Echoing what @MrPeanut has stated @Vapodudule get yourself on the preorder list for the single 18650 version. I feel your pain for not getting aboard the Zion train from the very start and missing out but this is the best way I think for the time being to be part of the RBT crew. By ordering the single your more assured of getting your hands on some of this tech, that was my thinking :).

Is it just me or do you guys think we need a rename on the single? I mean it's a bit of a mouthful saying I've got a "18mm single unregulated 18650 pre ordered".

"Little lion" sort of ties in with Zion, what you think?

Eh, I see no reason it can't just be called Zion Mini, or Zion Raw perhaps, it does have the same Zion heater technology... But probably an off topic discussion for this thread

If you are international i would also recommend going single battery unregulated. You don't want to miss Zion tech completly.

I do temp step with the Zion often, but full blast unregulated with a single battery should be manageable but still powerful, especially with some of these high powered 18650's that should be sold through the RBT website eventually.

The FC definition of a portable is a unit that does not need plug-in power. That's why the other subforum is called Plug-in Vaporizers. This completes your off-topic discussion. We now return to our regularly scheduled topic.

Edit:

Stirring is not necessary most of the time. You should get even browning with 5-10 second draws at low and medium power. If you pull hard for long hits at high power, the laminar flow will concentrate heat at the centre, thereby increasing the potential for uneven heating. The production heater is designed to keep this effect to a minimum.

Not needing to stir is not the same as not benefiting from stirring. I stir my load (usually about .07 g) every 3-4 hits.
I don't want to debate science, but I will state again that my hot spot is NEVER in the center, always along the edge. Maybe mine has an air path irregularity.

@ragnorokk Since your comment I've been watching mine a bit closer. It looks slightly askew when it's lighter, but if I turn it up, or draw harder, it gets more centred. Interestingly this goes through the entire load, with the centre a nice deep brown, and some slight greeny/brown around the edges. Yes, I should stir. I like my ABV to have a bit of oomph left in them. For more science of course. ;)

Beta Ziggy originally had the high heat hot spot occur on the side as well. However with current Ziggy and Zenon, i seem to get it in the center (again if at all, usually I'm not pushing it like that, and with proper technique it heats quite evenly in my experience).

When using through water, if I'm not spinning it as I hit it, sometimes I get the hotspot at a high power level, and it is on the side... So I do think both is possible, and neither is possible. Btw when I use Zig & Zen upright through the Evolver HydraTree 2.0 the extraction is remarkably even regardless, no stirring no hotspots at all

I like the fact you can lower the power and still get the big hits I'm looking for without the issues of a hot spot. I wouldn't call what I'm doing as temp stepping but in all actuality it probably defines it the best. The flavor is almost too much for some people. And the hits just keep coming.
The fact that the Zion's signature is so strong. I mean it just invites you to open up and say Ahhhhhhh!!!Then you add some high grade meds and shit can get very dangerous very quickly. Oh my goodness. This is not good when Mrs.HD wants to have a serious talk and I get the giggles. Damn you Good videos to watch when your vaked (post 1641). I believe I have @momofthegoons to thank for that funny video. I think all is well but it wasn't for a bit. I just had to tell her its @momofthegoons fault she posts some real funny shit.

Pretty sure he hasn't checked in here (maybe even email) at all in several days, probably busy building units and working his day job... I'm sure it'll be sorted out as soon as he becomes aware, mistakes happen, but its a shame

Yes I realize there are always excuses that can be made.

Until more of you good people start posting Zionisms I'm gonna keep putting random dribblings in here.

Random thought 1 - a magnet placed along the back, above the battery compartment, would make a great place to leave the lid when you are vaping.

Random thought 1, part 2 - The short glass is never hot on the lips. But when I use index finger cocked around the glass onto the trigger you can really feel just how warm the glass gets nearer the heater.

Thought 2a - if the curled part of the screen faces towards the load it's a lot easier to clean.

Thought 2d - organic matter holds alcohol well, despite scraping.

2d1, 1 - Torching alcohol-soaked organic matter makes pretty!

** Fresh batteries!

Yeah basket style, I may agree with Karma that even with the new screens it could be better than stock style, but I'm still using both in different stems. Basket style as you said stays much cleaner and easier for smaller loads, but both work well with both ofcourse.

@PCPrincipal wasn't trying to make any excuse really, but provide a thought to help, otherwise why post here? Just to complain or actually get info? Sorry either way
