Discontinued Zion vaporizer

nosmoking

Just so Dab HAppy!
Not sure if it's been mentioned, and for those of you who don't know...
DDave's mod for the LSV should work with the Zion, both his GonG and his stems/screens would fit in the 18mm Female.
Not sure if the manufacturer would recommend this, just stating something I noticed.
The manufacturer has mentioned on his website that he does not recommend/warranty this. Well, technically he refers to water tools in general.

Hmmmm. RBT's website says "Please allow 5-10 business days for a refund." So how many business days have you been waiting?

3-4 but you obviously didn't see him post that "all refunds have been processed." My buddy who cancelled an hour before me got his the next morning. Good try though man.

Even without the water tools, the stems can still be used and I just think that's pretty funny/convenient.

Great to see Zions on the assembly line. Thanks @thekarmawhore for the Tweet reminder.
Looking at the little single keeps drawing my mind to this well known symbol.
@RastaBuddhaTao you trying to tell us something??

Got it. So, hopefully within 6-7 more days that refund will get taken care of. I know you're less than happy with RBT's CS, but I hope you get the situation resolved so you can move on and find a vape/vape manufacturer that better serves your needs.

Thank you.

I read that they are going to be shipping out 24 zions monday. I was wondering if I ordered now would I be on that list or is that for earlier preorders. Anyone know?

Also on the standard zion package it says it comes with two mouth pieces. Does this mean 1 long and 1 short?

Yes long and short, its in the FAQ somewhere, but description should say it too really

And no those are spoken for, its less than 100 still that are pre ordered, and the total first run will be 200, so you've got time regardless

Only other airpath materials are glass steel and mica

There is some epoxy to seal the female glass GonG to the body though. Yes I love to nitpick, but you know how I am right? :p

There may be a slight mapley profile in a freshly made unit, but it gets broken in fast (better than having to break in any plastics imo)

Oh my! With all the beta testing of chinese stuff, I'm growing so tired of having to work through that robot fart smell that they all have when new. What a waste of my time! It takes hours of constant blowing and venting to get down to acceptable levels.

Really, the Zion is with the Firewood the vape I got having the least smell and off-taste when new and during use afterwards.

Got a few questions before my purchase...

I counted 13 questions actually! :) Won't answer them all, but let's try some...

>> Are there cheaper chargers out there than the i2?

The i2 is already super cheap. Go any cheaper and you'll likely get a turd.

>> I've heard battery life is very good, rough estimate anyone?

Between 4 and 10 stems depending on so many factors, hard to tell really. It does hit the batteries strong that's a given, it's a very powerful vaporizer. But the manual control means it's never wasting energy when you are not needing it.

>> How long do they take to charge?

I don't know, 3 hours something. Depends on cells and charger settings.

>> Is the button smooth and easy to press?

It's a strong button, very solid, gives a nice click, so I wouldn't call it smooth. Unless you have weak hands I see no problem here though.

>> Does anyone know the full range of temps of the temp dial?

It goes from no vapor to overdrive, meaning it covers the entire range of interest.

>> Concentrate hassle free? I know it's possible, but easy?

I don't do concentrates, can't help you.

>> I loved my Nano for so long (...) think this thing can hold up strongly against Logs in terms of effects/flavor/efficiency?

It's very similar but you can get vapor from cold under 5 seconds.

>> Is the vapor path all glass? What about the air path?

Don't worry, it's been debated to death behind the curtains and I'm known to be a paranoid nazi around here when it comes to materials safety. RBT got our collective green light.

>> What about the harshness when you're going dry? Tolerable?

I never tried it otherwise than dry. With the long stem it's the smoothest of all my vapes. I love the vapor density, the taste that is preserved much longer even at higher temps. I'm not even temp stepping anymore lately with Ashton, I just leave it at 65% for the entire session and it's a delight.

>> Negatives? Tell me everything you could possibly dislike about this vape

It requires a good amount of air flow like all convection vapes, so it's not really a vape that you can sip.

It invites you to take big and dense hits, and there's a risk this turns you into a cloud chaser even if it was previously against your religion! It can also skyrocket your tolerance because it's too easy and, did I say how strong it is? It's too strong, I keep repeating it. Ahston litterally blasts me everytime I use it... It's been the same daily for months now, I'm despaired! :p

Just curious as some convection vapes do not require a stir with this small amount.

I never stir, but as @pakalolo said.

How easy is it to create a "hot spot" with the Zion after say a 1-2 week break in period? I just can't go back to the LSV and Nano days where I lose a good percentage of my loads to gross taste.

To hotspot you really need to hit it like an elephant and at max power. Obviously this never happens to me when using it dry.

But seriously, I was just chugging on the Zion, & when I stopped & looked straight down the stem at the vapor-stream at the very bottom - it formed into a Yin-Yang!

Oh right! I love to look down at the blueish spiral vortex that forms inside the stem... It always swirls in the same direction, I guess like water down the sink?

Haha true, but the epoxy is not in the airpath, just holding the airpath in the wood.

Also re battery life, I'd say anywhere from 5 to 15 loads on production units, maybe even more with larger mah batteries

But I like it!
3.5 days, 1 battery change per day,

UccED2o.jpg

and 1 combustion incident requiring a screen clean (happened after this picture. This is pure vape goo). ... I stuffed a nice big bud into the stem, figure we'd start at 90% and see what a nice long draw feels like. And I felt it about 20 second in. Pulled stem out and the stuff sticking out of the stem was smoldering. Note to self - always stay inside the stem. It's for your own good!

You are an absolute Champion my man. 13 questions, jeeze! I recall a "few" being between 3-14....right? right!
This should be in the FAQs! hahaha.

I seriously appreciate you typing this out for me, and I'm sure others will too. I'm on page 14 now of the Zion thread, and am ready to go all the way to, what will probably be page 200, as I wait for my Zion!

The FW3, for me, even after being broken in requires slow and patient hits. I get the impression that the Zion will impress metal bowl smokers. People refuse to waste their time any other way than the largest hits they can get as quick as possible, regardless of how dirty.

I love the capsule of the FW3; I had considered using two screens to simulate a capsule in the Zion's mouthpiece. Between two basket screens for small hits.

I don't mind a large bowl, but it's not my concern. I will pack a one hitter's worth often and wonder how the Zion handles one hitters?

@Edric al-Fali , @pakalolo posted a video not so long ago with what I would call a micro hit lol. Check it out. Zion can handle small or large packed chamber.

@Vapodudule , only beta models have been shipped internationally and it will most likely remain that way for some time due to certifications and such. You can still pre-order a single battery beta unit for now internationally but there are no international sales after that in the foreseeable future.

Echoing what @MrPeanut has stated @Vapodudule get yourself on the preorder list for the single 18650 version. I feel your pain for not getting aboard the Zion train from the very start and missing out but this is the best way I think for the time being to be part of the RBT crew. By ordering the single your more assured of getting your hands on some of this tech, that was my thinking :).

Is it just me or do you guys think we need a rename on the single? I mean it's a bit of a mouthful saying I've got a "18mm single unregulated 18650 pre ordered".

"Little lion" sort of ties in with Zion, what you think?
