Flourless chocolate cake......
Is it the hash of the cake world???

I've never had it until today as I'm more of a pie guy.
Very dark chocolatey and melt in your mouth goodness.

Checkin' out a few online recipes including a recipe for "Flourless Chocolate Cake" from "King Arthur Flour Company :)

Any favorite recipes?

@grokit --
I found the Johnson-Wales Culinary recipe. It makes a nice little 31 pound cake....
I might try it at 10% of every ingredient :)

@MinnBobber I had one from a johnson-wales grad that was outstanding, better than any restaurant's I've tried (not that many). I don't have the recipe, but I can certainly recommend looking for that one!

I've actually heard from several people now that the gluten free King Arthur chocolate cake mix is the closest thing they've had to a flourless chocolate cake made here at a very good bakery.

Let us know if you try it.

Brutal weather = an excuse to make extremely rich food.
Pork loin rubbed with sage then braised in madeira, garlic, shallots, mushroom stock, and bacon stock.
Sauce is braising fluid finished with cream, sage, and butter.
Spinach is in cream, a tangy French feta, parmesan, fresh asiago, garlic, butter, and lots of black pepper.

Well, yes. Animal fat are some of life's great pleasures. And dairy fats ain't even actual animal fat- they are chemically distinct. Rendered duck fat, bacon fat, and beef fat, that is some tasty shit.

I just made a 3 1/2 inch cut pork porterhouse steak/roast via sous vide.
5 hours at 135 F and then a quicky 25 second flash sear in some coconut oil at high temp.
Yummy yummy ---juicy and tender and tastey
Garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli complimented it perfectly

Picture before diving into it.

That hurts my Yiddishkeit.

Meanwhile, made some non-kosher for Shabbat dinner last night. Two batches of escargot- one in cups with garlic, shallots, ham, white wine, butter. The other not in cups, in the same stuff but with aged gruyere added.
Didn't get a pic of the rest (all vaped up) but also made a lasagna with fresh pasta, spinach, French feta, aged gruyere, bacon stock, tomatoes, garlic, and mushrooms, and monkfish in a sauvignon blanc and lemon cream with dill.

Got pics of escargot, but we had already torn into them.

Both Mrs. PP and I love food. As we get older pounds are easier to gain than shed. Been having my Asian influenced soup twice a week for a good while now as a low calorie meal. It's my only low calorie meal. Started out with shrimp and craw fish. Leftover pork or chicken work well. I marinade the leftover meat in a cornstarch, soy sauce, rice wine and sesame oil slurry. Fry then add to the hot soup. Tried various noodles.

Herb roasted pork loin in a sherry, mushroom and horseradish sauce. Trying to leave out the cream.

Pork rubbed with salt, pepper, sage, and lavender. Sauce is mushrooms, mushroom broth, sherry, garlic, shallot, olive oil, and horseradish.

OK you Steel Cut Oat lovers, here's some virtual "Oat porn".

Family size Cream of Wheat next to my Steel Cut Oat stash....
I literally had to meet my grain dealer in a parking lot on the other side of town to feed my addiction :) but it's a good addiction.

50 pounds of golden goodness from my "pusher man". Fresh from the mill and awesome for breakfast.
And I really did have to meet him in a parking lot---it felt like a dope deal of old LOL

Food related- yesterday while at Central PA ComicCon, I was officially installed as Head Chef of the Imperial Klingon Forces (2nd largest Klingon group in the world).
This is the Chancellor dubbing me such with my tactical chicken.
Putting together Klingon type recipes (lots of uncooked proteins, Japanese style twitching seafood, and weird looking veggies).
