Marijuana Use and Bronchitis

Have there been any studies done between the two?

I know marijuana is an expectorant and opens up the bronchial tubes but smoke and even vapor is an irritant so it seems counterproductive. Perhaps edibles is best in this situation.

The reason I ask is because I stopped smoking and vaping for over a year. Recently over the past 2-3 weeks I started up again and became a daily user. I was vaping for about 2-3 weeks before my vaporizer stopped working. I could definitely feel the negative effects on my lungs after that time though I don't think this is what caused my issues.

Anyway, after the vaporizer broke I resorted to smoking. I smoked for only 3 days (about a total of 6 times). Every time I smoked it would DESTROY my throat and lungs and would have me coughing like crazy. I ended up getting a sore throat which turned into a cold which turned into acute bronchitis. It seems like any positive effect marijuana has on the lungs is counteracted by the smoke.

I used to get bronchitis all the time, mainly from allergies or a cold that was not properly taken care of. I also smoked MJ for 10 years straight. I had to see a pulmonologist because I thought I had chronic bronchititis, my mom died of lung disease. So now that I vap, I havent had a case of bronchitits in 3 years. Also when I get a cold I just make THC pills, either ABV or decarbed bud. My last x-ray was normal and docs said no way to CT SCAN. So that was reassuring.

Vaping, like smoking or pollution, will affect your bronchials adversely, although with a much lesser extent of irritation and toxicity.

I was having a cold once and after vaping it got worse. In my opinion its best to avoid vaping or smoking when you have some pulmonary disease.

I've had asthma all my life and I'm in my 50s now. Smoking always made me wheeze and I would get bronchitis a couple times a year.

I started vaping two years ago and since then I've NOT had bronchitis at all, and even my wheezing has improved so much so that I can vape a few times a day and still not have it bother my lungs. It's all anecdotal and YMMV, but vaping >= smoking in my case.

I find that vaping flowers with a convection vaporizer e.g Mighty or Firefly, are gentler on my lungs than concentrates or oil.
