Discontinued Zion vaporizer

you should get a wooden sleeve for the EVO though so they all match haha. That table lead to a fun weekend I'm sure.

Back to the Zion though, has anyone used a IR thermometer and a exacto knife and marked themselves some temp range marks? On my VaporBrothers i used this technique to mark 320,340, 400, 420 etc so I could count the notches when setting the potentiometer

The beta team has debated the merits of having marks. I started out thinking they would be necessary but I quickly came to realize that I didn't need them.

The knob has a sweep of 240°. This is the same as eight hours on a clock face. If I orient my Zion so that the mark on the knob is at noon when it is turned up to full, I find it trivial to estimate my position. It is turned completely down at 4 o'clock, and 6 o'clock is then 25% of the range, which is my most used setting.

I see your into the wood thing, except for the lone EVO
Yeah, is it that obvious? :)

The thing is, that's most of the wood vapes & of course the Evo, but, er, the others would definitely not fit on that table . . . . :disgust:

I know, I know, you don't need to say it . . . :mental:

But in my eyes Johnny Zion is a super star among a star studded line up!

Right, who's turn is it . . . .

Now, now, Johnny! You just had a go! - Let someone else get a look in!
Huh, I dunno eh, you just can't keep a good vape down!

'. . . Maybe someday your name will be in lights
Saying 'Johnny B. Goode tonight . . .
Go, Johnny, GO, GO!!! . . '

:D

Nothing but love.

True @pakalolo , plus I would assume each unit could have slight variance in temps too so a 3 on one could be a 2.5 on another.

Once getting used to the Zion I assume any point of reference you use would work for setting the temp. I hope to find out soon

Does anyone have experience with these Efest 18650 batteries?
http://www.amazon.com/Efest-Purple-...454253225&sr=1-2&keywords=efest+18650+battery

They look like they would perform well and don't have as many counterfeit issues on amazon based on reviews or the LG ones seem decent too

I give my take on your question in the 18650 thread since battery talk is somewhat unrelated.

And don't forget you (and the team) have beta units with slightly different orientations. In my production bodied Zenon, with your thumb on the trigger (facing you) 12 o clock is zero percent, so its all relative of course

Basically once you get the Zion and see/feel the sweep of the knob it will become very intuitive for you to adjust to target temps, spots on the dial, or rather known as power levels here

killick

But I like it!
Babys dial is at about the same location. It's prolly gonna get moved a bit so there is enough room to clearly label the max setting as 13...

So more testing - my ABV collection is getting really rather large. My poor glass is full of reclaim. (does anyone use filter material in their glass?). I've only used a short stem. Haven't tried it in glass yet, or through water, or with anything besides ground flower, and a couple of buds. I *have* used the stash container. I kinda thought it was a gadget when it first appeared on the thread, but I use it all the time! I was using a small prescription pill bottle, but this is much more elegant, and holds enough to last me a full day out if pressed.

The stir stick is both good and great. It's a lot more substantial than I assumed. It's basically a piece of round stock with a nicely shaped end. It falls out a lot. I held Zion up to get a look inside and almost lost an eye. Fortunately I have a couple of spares... I was going to give it the wee bendy trick that TKW showed a few pages back, but that is gonna involve a vice and a hammer, which I'm a bit loath to do... Maybe a wee piece of pipe insulation in there will provide enough to keep it a bit tighter. But it's really handy to have to get those pesky pieces stuck in the stem loose when changing loads. Plus it's durable enough to be used in a survival situation, which is where any self-respecting portable log vape should be in my view... @MrPeanut will probably be modifying his for cleaning fish one-handed, while Zioning with the other.

So anyways, day 3 has me doing some temp surfing. I can easily run a few on low, a few on lower than medium, and then a few more on the upper ranges to finish it. And it's a nice, dark colour. Fairly even considering I'm not much of a stirrer. I found that to be more messy than worthwhile, but thats likely just my lack of GAF factor considering I'm usually pretty happy at stir time.

I've noticed that I'm vaping less somehow. I'm not preheating, and then running the device, and then maybe running another load through since it's already warm, and there's the better part of an hour gone. Here it's the Thunderbirds countdown, vape, and put it down. Putting a fresh set of batteries in is kinda like christmas. And you get to draw at whatever pace you want to. Start drawing slowly, and when you feel the warmth you can up your speed, and vape still keeps coming. It's quite fun, and it keeps getting me really, really medicated. But if you wanna just fill, set dial to 13, and GO, that option is also available. From finesse through to brute force.

Yes, Zion is a great vape. Baby and myself are bonding nicely. She fits in the cupholder on the ATV, but now I need to figure out how to keep mud, snow and dogs from landing on her there...

Stirring is much less messy if you curl your finger around the bowl so that it keeps everything from falling out:

Is that the depth that you typically run the screen? I'm running mine the opposite way about 3/8" from the end of the stem. This allows for a big, tasty bowl. So amazing, the versatility of this vape. It can be suited to nearly every need.

I have a SOLO and it's old and work's amazingly well?
So you think the Zion is WAY better than a SOLO?
My wife doesn't however has me vaporize with a SOLO downstairs.
Up stairs my plug-ins are always plugged in and ready.

I was thinking to get another potable this year?
The LOTUS I use outside however it's not allowed in the house.

So here I am working for a new portable?

For me, there is just too much draw restriction on the a Solo. I still have one but it never gets used. The Zion is ready to provide vapor at a moments notice. If you can deal with the wait, it will be well worth it.

The SOLO does have a restriction issue with stock stems!

I use PHVES stems and GonG's for that issue.

Does the ZION pair with Glass as well as the SOLO?

Hey @ataxian, the Zion pairs with glass beautifully

How does a 18.8 U.S standard GonG sound? Get yourself a male2male or male2female adapter (depending on your glass setup requirements), making sure that the Zion end is 18.8 male U.S standard & you're pretty much good to go. And then simply add in a standard pair of 18650 batteries for your power source . . . .

People have been batting around a certain word, oh now what the hell was it . . . . oh that's it, VERSATILE!!! :D

Peace.

I haven't used the Solo, but I use Venus with glass almost all the time. My fav piece had been the UFO but lately I have been sticking it on a D022 as a lighter weight easier to hand hold combo, and liking it a lot. :)

All ya need for glass is a US jointed M2M, and with all your glass from DHGate I'm sure you have plenty of those. At around 340g with batteries (the beta) it sits pretty comfortably on top of any glass set up I make for it. I think you would like it. In terms of hit I compare it to the Lotus without the torch.

I have both. The Zion pairs way better with glass in my opinion.

Ataxian! I've been trying to tell you that you need this thing for a while now! (maybe even more than an Evo? I did just sell mine so what do I know?)

As far as compared to the Solo, it is no comparison, this is like a true portable desktop, more like your E-Nano buddy, a battery powered log vape. Pure convection on demand vs. session conduction constantly cooking in Solo, so much more powerful and oh yeah @VegNVape & @killick versatile!:p

I suggest you read through some of the thread, things got really interesting around page 70 when me DieHard and others got our beta units, and over the past 50ish we've both gotten production units too (as have quite a few others!). If you order now the wait will be a few months but well worth it imho... Read up brother! Plenty of time to decide but you'll see what I mean, many posts of Zion on glass, by myself included, and videos as well!

We all know what the true HOLY GRAIL is, but many of us here believe that the ZION may just be one of the very best way to enjoy it!

The strain I have a lot of I can vape regardless of the time of day?

Do you think the crew at ZION hates CALIFORNIANS?

Are you a GSC man? Just got some again finally and it is so lovely for any time of day, all day... Must be even better right at the source

Early pre orders have begun shipping, there are about 50 or so to be built and sent out over the next few months (there's a progress update posted on the website and somewhere here), there are 150 more up for grabs now (minus 10 or 13 already?) for the rest of the first production run to be completed before the summer asofnow, and the more that are sold in advance the more extra freebies each one will ship with (giveaway details also on the website). Eventually things will kick into high gear soon after that as plans are in place, right now it still the (not so humble?) beginnings but 2016 should be a big year for RastaBuddhaTao, as a smaller simpler model will also be developed and released as soon as possible

That's an original stem that I got with Jessica. In the stems I got got with Pauahi, the screen is reversed, but the depth is the same. This is just right for the load size I prefer (.07 g) but depending on the grind it can hold as much as .1 g.
