I don't know I completely understand what you are asking. Other than the very end of the VapCap, where the cap is and the heat is applied, the unit doesn't get hot. The glass the original is constructed from is essentially an insulator compared to metal and the heat even after many cycles doesn't make the unit uncomfortably hot. In addition to this, the way the inverse induction airflow is designed, cooling air washes the inside surface of the unit like a counter flow heat-exchanger absorbing the heat from where it doesn't belong (in the body or stem as well as cooling the condenser tube) and dissipates it into the vapor stream.
I just like the idea of a metal stem to vape out of--basically impervious to breakage and damage from flame, and also easier to clean than wood. It's just a thought about an alternative to the glassy and the woody.

But I thought there might be some conduction of heat into a metal stem, and that's why I suggested the fins.

But I think when you add the crowns to the woody, that will work for me as well.

Hey all!

Just thought that I'd check in to say that wandering around the big city - out & about at various pubs & bars, in full view, in open spaces & even fairly breezy conditions . . . VapCap did the biz with maintenance hits throughout the day & late on into the night :)

And it's just so damn easy to load on the go, in partnership with the lovely DynaStash - and stealthy too - walking down the street loading this thing looks nothing out of the ordinary imo. Look confident & nobody gives you a second glance. At least that has been my experience.

Personally, I think that I would say that this is quite possibly the quickest, easiest and most discreet loading device I own out of my entire fleet of far, far too many vapes.

And I know it has been said several times before, but I shall concur that holding the VapCap is a natural delight too. Whether in between your index & middle finger in a classic 'V' clutch, or perhaps clenched between your teeth, or maybe simply tucked behind your ear for later (careful now!) - it's AllGood

One thing I was thinking of however, was a VapCap for the deaf or hard of hearing - or just for those times when the sound of your environment is already too loud to allow you to hear those helpful little clicks.

A VapCap with a visual click, if you will.

It could just literally be the cap that gets swapped out to somehow change it between an 'audio-popping' & an 'eye-popping' device.

Any ideas on how to achieve this peoples . . . ?

Kinda like those pop-lid stash tins or something, maybe?

Hehehe. Just a thought.

Oh btw, @phattpiggie - your stems/sleeves are looking sweeeeet! :luv: Very nice work my friend! I love that one with the hole in too. Like you say, an honest piece. It's a BaseballCap ;) Keep that good stuff coming. And all of y'all too. I really love the way this tiny little bit of kit is bringing out all of the modders

Fun times.

Oh, and of course, here's a quick snap . . .

Happy daze.

MuchLove you guys.

Don't know if this paint wouldd be safe but..

https://www.paintwithpearl.com/shop-custom-paint/temperature-changing-paint/

"Custom Temperatures can be special ordered. As the temperature rises, the paint disappears to show what is underneath. Paint With Pearl has the best prices on Thermochromic heat sensitive pigments."

You will need some type of "Thermochromatic" material that is safe for use.

Or maybe these wound work?

Also this is interesting, and will explain the colors of your vapcap cap.

Found with my OG although it does click as expected it gives off a pronounced click in the form of touch, I mean to say that once it comes to temp there is defiantly a good sized vibration which can be felt very easily in the finger tips so I do listen out for the click even in louder conditions but have the back up of the psychical handheld click as well.

Mine also has a real pop as it cools down literally attempts to jump off the end of the glass mouthpiece as it cools down, we both sit there waiting for it to "pop" in a vap cap stone inducing haze :ko:.

I've had this thought as well. My Blackwood is heavily modded and the loud clicks are easily felt. You never know someone with a Hearing Impairment could probably feel the faint ones.
I won't ask if you've had a great Birthday, week, it looked terrible :).
Long time since I visited your neck of the woods. Even longer since I drank in a Sam Smiths pub. Shut down along with the majority of proper pubs.
Many thanks for the likes. I am wondering if it's worth doing some custom stems for sale, once the necessary permissions were sorted here, there must be nearly a dozen UK VC'ers I know of.

@anasrzi Mine used to pop up as well. I just gave it a gentle squeeze to 'tighten' it a little. It doesn't take much pressure to stop the cap lifting. Had visions of it coming off altogether and me sat there with a purple/brown hot cap and the contents in my lap.

@Archaicrevival like the BSSA thing. Mine is mainly brown with purple/brown. No wonder it smarts a bit when you put a digit on it.

VnV thought this one wouldn't look out of place next time you were in Harvey Nicks

I'm a vac'n'pac loading style person. Used the straw method with my 05 glass. The VC lets particles thru so I've put a Titan 2 screen in which stops all but kief coming thru.
Did a couple of runs with Titan screen in about half way. A gram could well last between 30-40 bowls.

Man that is beautiful. I'd really one like that. Who made that blackwood piece?

That is a 3 inch 18mm WonG I already had from Ed, for my UnderDog. The diameter of the SS tip used for the nylon stem, also used in my WonG is the same as the VapCap. I drilled my own carb and just put the pieces together.
.

Silly question maybe, but how'd ya manage to get the bushing out? I had an extra stem from Ed that he made a mistake on, so I figured it wold be a perfect convert. The SS tipo in it was really loose when I got it, so I pushed it in, went down basically to the "crimp" in the SS tip if that makes sense. Tried ripping it out the other day, no dice. Used pliers too and just could not wrench it from the stem lol.

I did it on a cold stem, you think if I just heated up a dog and got some hot air going it would maybe loosen it up? I don't want to rip up one of my other stems, and I figured this one would be easiest since it was already really loose at some point, but damn, it's really in there lol.

Also, in reading, saw someone say that the cracks stopped after using wood butter. The very first day I got mine, I was worried about the cracks and slathered it up. I hadn't put any butter on it since and its definitely a bit "drier" now than it was. Consequentially, I noticed my first crack the other day. I feel like there is a correlation there

Edit: I totally dig you giving us out Crowns too George! Quality customer service! I still need to order my TI Glassy :)

It's a must have, HD, there is a niche in your vape world that only this will fill. If you were HDdyna or HDsuper, I wouldn't be so sure, but because you're HDspringer, well, I'm kinda sure.
Damn I get it now. All ya had to do was put it in terms that I could grasp. Looks like I'll be ordering one of these more sooner then later. Thanks TKW and of course my main man phatts.

Indeed it's a pretty fun little analog vape, so cheap there's no reason not to have it in the arsenal and support another great new manufacturer. I also have to echo those "stoney" sentiments of yours from earlier, like most great vapes it has its own unique signature and a strong profile, it may be small and simple but it does pack a slow steady punch once you get the techniques down imo

My theory is that vapes such as this which sweep a wide range of temps during a single hit deliver a dose that also contains extracts from all across the temp range.

Stands to reason, right?

And it's this quick delivery of *all* the constituents that generates the signature 'stoney' high of this and other vapes that traverse all the temps in each hit.

I call it the broadband effect.

That or I read all about it somewhere sometime while really high and now think it's my idea, I don't know which. :(

I always correlated that I get a "stonier" high from conduction style vaporizers; not to say I can't get a "stoned" high on something like the EVO. But then I'm bumping up the temps usually.

But, maybe the "conduction oven" on these style vapes (and the VC?) is doing what you're saying, a wide range of temps. Kind of like how if you were to put something in the oven, certain parts would be warmer than others? And by getting the wider range you get the more "stoney" high?

I think you're onto something  good thought. Whatever the reason, I certainly love the effects!

Forgot to mention, I agree that the pronounced "stone" effect from the VC is effectively taking "all" constituents in one hit, I find that it gives me a "rush" unlike really any other vape I've use.

There's a particular non conduction vape that I find has similar effects, so I don't think it's limited to conduction. Plus, good old fashioned burning a bowl used to do the 'stoney' thing too and is certainly broadband in the applied temps so that's what connected those dots for me.

I have run a 6 click temp step so you can sort of pick where you want to be. Heat right on the cap end and the first couple of clicks are lite and tasty. Carry on and the vapor and hit get thicker. I still chuckle to myself at how 'shit faced' one tiny bowl gets me.
@HD Springer it looks like @thekarmawhore has persuaded you so I can sleep easy now knowing it will be TKW who gets the blame when you bring the subject up with Mrs HD.

I'd try it after its warm. If you have any underbutter you could try to use that too. It's just pressure fit. I just pulled and twisted and it came right out.

Man i love how FILTHY i can get this thing...I mean, coated...caked...
Hell all I have been using in it is bubble hash (bouncing between deathstar, sour d, and couch lock)
Holy hell this thing was designed for bubble and I dont think @VapCap even knew it when he made it. I can even purposely combust in it with bubble and its still amazing!

Oh man no where I was implying just conduction, I can get similar "stone" effects from the EVO (or my logs/HA) when I'm running it at a temp that's fully extracting all cannabinoids, but pound for pound for me, the Vapcap is a different beast! Just meant in general that a conduction effect at X temp may have a more varying range of profiles; If I set my convection vape to...lets say 370, all the air that's passing over all the bud is 370, and I'd assume extracting as so. For conduction, the "oven" is set at 370, stuff closer to the center is probably less (350...numbers are arbitrary here just example) stuff closer to the walls is probably even hotter being conducted against the metal surface (380? again number isn't specific) but the overrall temp of the "oven" is 370. Hope that make sense, just was saying in that aspect I always feel the "range" of effects and tastes.

A good old fashioned burning bowl gives you a relative range of profiles, I agree. Like the area you hit the flame with is going to be hotter than the edge of the bowl that gets cherried over. So in that sense, I feel that "burning a bowl" is more similar to conduction, rather than pulling X temp air over all of it and it being kind of all inclusive? If that makes sense. I agree with your overrall sentiment about it :) My vapcap loads always look fully toasted!

Something about the VC though really gives me that "kick" maybe it is the varying range of profiles being delivered per hit, but I do think its more than that. Who knows, I'm for sure a happy camper with it! :)

Here's the VC in its glory today:

@NickDlow appreciate the response brotha I will heat up a dog after dinner and give it a whirl! I thought they would just come out easily enough....was able to be pushed in easily enough, why not the other way!
