The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
I'm trying to make a potpourri unit out of my "Q" however I have a hole in the middle of the dish? if I fill it with oil won't it leak?
Pretty sure that it is for dry flowers only. But there probably is some sort of workaround. Some have used liquid pads in their EQ. Never tried it myself.
Any other suggestions?

I think I'll buy a unit for $19.99 on ebay.
To reinvent the wheel is not my ambition.
Fair enough.:) But if you ever just want to go with just the dry flowers, there is always that option.
So did you have a model in mind? Is it going to be in a sauna or in a steam environment? Just a few things to consider. Since $19.99 can get you a lot of things on ebay.

I don't see a reason to buy another unit if a simple solution around the corner is available. I'm sure the EQ is capable and robust for that matter. BUT One big consideration for anybody. Is there is a danger of having oil dripping back into the heater? If any idea is a little unsafe or worry some. Yea go for the $20 solution. Not worth the heartbreak of a dead EQ.

People have used different liquids in the pads and you have a wide range of temperature control to work with. Just haven't covered that area myself.

What would happen if I brushed oil on the inside of my potpourri dish then heated up the EQ and ran the fan? There would be some drip down. If I had a long wand (I do.) and brushed a little towards the top and ran the EQ with a screen in, would that be safe enough to run the fan and fill the room with say the scent of lavender oil? I need to make this place smell like old timey soap.

I have some different oils that smell unreal.
Jasmine, Lavender and a few others.

So the potpourri dish is useless for the "Q"?

I would be concerned. If you have had it a while, it could be ABV that has fallen down into the fan. I had the fan actually stopped working a couple of times because of that. I carefully disassembled, blew out/cleaned with Q-tip the residue from the fan housing area. Very hard to disassemble/assemble without breaking the ribbon cables.
Be very careful if you decide to do this!

I may try this... my EQ is about 8 months old now, it could probably do with a cleaning.

So, @throwawaytre3s has your EQ been behaving? Are you still getting the occasional hesitation with the fan? Just wondering if it passed or not.
I haven't noticed it doing again, but I didn't do anything to it either, so it's quite possible it passed on it's own. I'll keep an eye out though!

Basically how would you compare the EQ seshs and hits to the Solo/Air? And the mflb, if you've ever owned/tried one?

I have had an EQ for over five years. In the summer it goes on the deck, the rest of the year it is by the couch for TV/Games/Movies. Mostly use the whip, haven't used the balloons for a while now. The thing that improved it the most was the addition of a Ddave kit and D020 bubbler. Much easier to use now that the elbow pack method is not really needed with the Ddave kit.

I own two Solos and rotate them-a different slant on "charge while using".
I find I use the Solo more than my EQ and Vapor Bros. It is so easy to use.

When I really want strong hits I use the EQ and Solo with a claisen adapter and the D020. I believe I made smart choices by going with Arizer.
A lot of "bang for the buck" in both cases.

C'mon @ataxian, No glass is ever useless for very long with me. Plus I'm kinda resourceful too. But to reiterate.
The EQ potpourri dish is fine for dry flowers. If you have dry lavender flowers, rose hips, etc. You are GTG.

With oils and the EQ it is a different matter. There is no common method for the EQ. It does not come with any type of oil stock parts. And therein lies the rub.

The EQ itself is robust. There is several solutions that others have tried. Like the liquid pad.

But if you are looking for any other excuse to use your potpourri bowl. It works great as a shotglass with a pair of scissors to cut up those hard to work with materials.
Plus the finer bits go through the hole. It is terrific for breaking up things like lemongrass, which is normally a PITA to break up dry otherwise.

I have used the potpourri as a whip end. Or I will put it in the EQ and dry my elbow screens. I just had an idea just now! Food drying.

I keep hearing more positives with the Solo all the time. If I wasn't already trying to get all the value out of the portables I have, the Arizer Solo or Air would be a solid choice. Now that I figured out you can replace the Solo's battery. It make it more attractive to buy a used unit. But new would be nice.
A claisen adapter! That be perfect with the widemouth of my "Q". @Dr.Soxlet can you recommend any source or type before I go hunting for one?

@kellya86 Sorry to hear about you combusting bro but I'm happy to see you riding that close to the edge. Restricted air flow can cause combustion sometimes.

@CuckFumbustion Nice piece of lab glass you got there. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

@ataxian For a cheap oil diffuser you can use a copper cup (end cap for a pipe) from a hardware store. Put a bit of cotton in it then fill with some oil and place on the heating element of the EQ or your e nano. A thin ring of silicone around the rim makes them easy to handle when they are hot.

Solo v EQ - I can get a single hit extraction from my solo at 7 that will punch me in the face harder than the EQ. But I can't leave my solo on all day.

Arizer needs to make a solo the size of a log vape that plugs into the wall. No batteries and can be left on all day. I would buy it in a heart beat.

Go check out 7th floors Lsv , it's somewhat solo on crack. I have not been using my Eq much since I got it. Still love my Eq but this thing is insane , amazing extraction.

Back when I had my EQ, I would use a cotton ball in the dish and drip essential oils onto the cotton ball. Worked well for me. Give it a shot?

Thank you Stu!

I'm going to drop JASMINE on some Cotton.
Also I'll do some LAVENDER with a plumber's cap! @Nugg

So, a few days ago I accidentally combusted some material in the EQ. I wasn't worried about taste as I had it going through water so I barely tasted it anyway, but my bong fell off my table and broke so I am stuck with a gross smelling/tasting whip until my Ddave kit arrives. I had the bright idea of putting some of this orange incense oil onto a cotton ball and that into the Cyclone bowl with the fan on to at least cover the smell/taste. What I didn't do is read the back and see the warnings. Will I be fine since it's a bit being blown by fan rather than a lot spilt or should I not risk using the whip?

Guys (and gals),

I bought an extreme Q the same time I got my Solo, Jan 2013. I never really got into the Q because I loved the Solo (and Air) so much.

Wife was away and I moved the Extreme Q from the computer to the nightstand. With a shorter bowl (like the DDave mod) it works great!!

I am having a hard time looking at my portable vapes, when the Q is a choice. I can vaporize .1 - .15 in one or two rips instead of spending 10 minutes sucking my lungs out to try to get vapor from my Solo or Air.

FYI I have never combusted anything in my life and I vape to get medicated, not for the taste.

Is there a way to get more medicine in the elbow screen and still get a good extraction?

I totally understand that. I then have the issue of having a day where I vape 1.5g of Indica & 1.5g of Sativa like yesterday. The EQ really encourages me to misbehave & that is why I have restricted it to weekends only. Hell even today I put .3 of purged first run Iso through the EQ. I am nicely blazed but the EQ makes one want to do that every day.

There is something about having a long glass heated pathway that causes the vapor to stack instead of say dragging along the pathway. I posted my tall glass setup before. It's about 9 inches tall when both lengths of glass are adapted together. When I have them apart and use them separately, the vapor pours and is a little thinner/thicker as I continue to draw. The taller wand setup seems to have the heavier vapor hang in the glass a little longer and feels a lot more consistent. Giving it that thick flavor from dragging the vapor more continuously over your palette. My Summit might be on the other end of the spectrum. I don't taste anything until I exhale. Any thoughts?

I never tried it and was reluctant to recommend it. Glad at least one other person has done it more than once. Perhaps there is even more oil friendly materials or grades of cotton that might be even more preferable? If I see a SS or glass version of @Nugg's cap solution in my travels, I'll be sure to pass it on.

That's one of the wands that came with my Eq DDave kit , fits right in with a basket screen.
Niiiiiice!!!!

All I need is an LSV then..

Thanks man!

Gotta love @DDave.. So damn versatile.

Hey sickmanfraud!

This is precisely why I use the Solo (mostly) during the day, as it produces the perfect high for daytime activities.

But, my real deal, knock me on my ass session is reserved before bedtime with a desktop unit.

You say you have a basket screen "like" DDaves mod? .
I really suggest to at least shoot him a pm... He is just brilliant regarding obtaining the most bang for your buck, with efficiency being his specialty...
From what I understand, his kits are custom made, with slightly different dimensions than what is available from stock parts.

*please correct me if I'm wrong @DDave *

I'm sure he'll chime in soon.

Yw, Lsv def compliments the Eq nicely , it's a power hitter for sure. DDave has made a nice kit for it that improves on its extraction. I mostly use it mated to my glass with the occasional wand packing. I feel having the lsv & Eq is the best of both worlds , both are not to expensive and get the job done . Plus the company resides in Colorado also I believe .

If I see an LSV cheap, I will snag it. My tall wand setup works much like an LSV with thicker glass, and digital display control, And convection heat. Can't use it upside down like the LSV. Plus LSV is full conduction. So yea they do contrast and compliment each other.
I'm thinking the LSV could be modded to be used as a secondary glass heater? :hmm:

Correct, my baskets are different dimensions and mesh than Arizer baskets. They wont fit correctly in an Arizer Elbow.

The Arizer Elbow and original DDave Mod (the Shorty F/F) were nice, there's no disputing that. I created the 2nd version of the mod because I wanted to tweak performance even further.
* Baskets are different dimension (thermal processing of different load shape/size)
* Wand has no internal screen ledge (airflow) + straight path initially with no curves so as not to "grab" the initially-hot vapor particles.

If I see an LSV cheap, I will snag it.
I think you should PM @stickstones on this. As far as 7th floor, he's got the elevator straight to the top shelf!!! ;)
