Discontinued Zion vaporizer

"A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad" - Shigeru Miyamoto, designer of many classic Nintendo games

There is a reason Nintendo has been around since 1889. :dog: It seems it can be a wise business decision to make people wait now in order to get a better product later. Waiting isn't for everyone, but I am confident that those who are waiting will benefit with a great vape. Maybe I'm just an optimist. :)

Three Zion related questions:
1) Am I the only one saving a specific strain until my Zion arrives? I have about 1g of Moby Dick waiting in a jyarz for a few months now because I love the flavour.
2) As an 18650 newb, what is the best range to keep the batteries charged? At what point do I charge and do I let it get to the top?
3) Does anyone who has a Zion also have Ratchett's 18>14 reducer? I am curious if that could fit on the end of the mouthpiece.

I'm checking in to spread some Zion love up in here. One thing everyone is overlooking is RBT created a great portable vaporizer. Does he glad hand all and kiss everyone's baby's?Hell no. I wouldn't let him near my kid. You see his videos? Dudes warped.

Marilyn is chugging lung busting hit after hit after hit. And sorry I know I've beat this drum over and over but 18650's is the shit. Dual 18650's matched up in a burned up beta Zion is a match made in hd springer heaven. Which is some people's hell. So go figure. Rbt you have created a monster.

Quick update before work:

I discovered last night that my E-Nano 18mm gong works with my Zion.

Man, I already loved Zion, but through water? Perfect.

Nice!

Water can help unleash the beast easily

How did the E-Nano GonG fit though? It only has 18mm on one end no? How can it seal with the Zion bowl? I hope you're not just resting it in there on the oven screen, bc it is not meant to be supported by the screen like that and could void warranty (ofcourse yours didn't come with the manual yet so im sure you're all good regardless). Just wanted to make sure you and other early users are aware...

@fluffhead a Ratchett SonG indeed works very well to connect Zion to water with its stock stems, not sure about that specific SonG, but my plain 18mm one works fine.

Also saving a strain is a good idea imo, I do the same but now I'm sitting on stocks of a lot of variety actually, so fun to try in Zion, and I am getting a new batch of a favorite I haven't had in a while... I've also been using blends, it all works great despite all the variation!

And battery wise, Zion will cut off the voltage at around 3.5v if I'm not mistaken, so that will always protect then from discharging too low. As for topping off, as long as they are a matched pair at even charge level they are good to go. Since I have the i2, I have to let them fully charge so I know they're synced up again, but I usually like to use em right away, even if only for a hit or two, or just a quick 5 sec preheat, so I don't store a fully fully charged one (but that's me being over cautious, I've had a fully charged pair sit for months unused as I waited for Ziggy's return and they still work pretty well!)

Today was the first dog walk since I sprained my ankle last week. Only went maybe a mile and a half, but let Brisco and Nigel off leash to run around in a snowy field at my favorite secluded wood spot just off a sidetrail of an already lightly used area. Haven't seen a soul out there in almost six months, and it is less than a mile from my house.

I sat down on a stump with Zion, watched my dogs on one side of a ravine and watched (what i presume) were muskrats swimming around in a small swampy lake on the other side. Couldn't get close from where i was, but never personally seen otters or beavers in this area of Michigan so really a guess

The Zion was great to have with, and fits well into my inner coat pocket. Ran it today with some thin gloves on no problem. Hard to tell where your frozen breath starts and where your hits of herbs end in this weather so clouds looked extra massive and impressive floating happily in the morning sun in front of two beautiful landscapes.

Keep the hope up. Zion is fashionably late, but still sure to be a hit on your next dog walk or cocktail party.

P.s. if i was one of the other beta testers i may have taken some beautiful pictures. But i didn't even think to bust out the smart phone in the moment

I left a battery in my unplugged D2 when I came to switch it on the display was blank. Took the cell out switched the charger off. Put the battery in and turned it on and all okay. I think as with all things electronic they have these little hiccups.
If any one is in doubt there is a battery safety thread, stickied by Pak, ask any questions on that thread and everyone on it will help in any way they can.
We all want the @RastaBuddhaTao Experience to be a good one.
RBT I knew all along the 'Long stares into camera' and facial hair was to hide the enormous grin you must constantly have.
The ride since I joined, late, has been great and now Zions are going out to the patient and faithful it's getting better everyday. Congrats again and lets sort this International bolox out. We need cheesey grins over here too.

But I like it!
So I got all dressed up, took our labradoodle and the neighbors chocolate lab for a walk in the snow and trees, find a great place to put Baby for a photoshoot, and forgot the freakin camera at home. So myself, Logan and Mousse got wasted. Or rather I got wasted and they sniffed and peed on things.

So picture this: We're in a forest, loaded with Larch, Pine, Fir and Cedar. We're on a trail, there are broken trees around, I'm sitting on one while the dogs play. Baby is sitting on a tree that has a little less snow on it than the others. It's snowing almost straight down. It's ridiculously peaceful and serene, and even better vaping. So I can't help myself and next thing you know and we're vaping. But this seems different from vaping, cause I'm getting really, really high, and doing it rather quickly.

Anyways, I also filled up the stash container and tested it, and it works fine as well. Everything works fine. My brain is mushy. I can see how it's easy to go a bit overboard. I've been trying all sorts of combinations - hard draw, slow draw, small load, packed load, low temp, high temp. Everything works fine. Draw is quite unrestricted unless you are *really* horsing on it. And even then I had a full load tamped down a bit, so I was expecting it to be worse... And I'm really glazed, and didn't take any notes whatsoever, all I recall is that everything worked fine. As @ChippyMalone said some time ago there is no real learning curve. It's devilishly simple to get great success from.

For those of you still on the fence about the preorder and such, all I can say is the wait is indeed worth it. But if you really can't wait then you should just get something else, and maybe order one of these if/when they are in full production. Like a bunch of people I was also on preorder for the 'hopper. A friend compared the Zion to the GH as comparing a rapier to a shotgun. I don't need a rapier, so I waited for the shotgun, and I'm very glad I did.

So the more buzzed I get the more music I listen to. It's kinda good, except this one keeps getting stuck, so I'm sharing it with y'all :)

:nod::nod: and that is what I mean by versatility, it all just works, and works so fucking well you'd wonder why anyone would ever bother smoking... Love that new users are quickly picking up on this in their own use

Also love this analogy! I hope to have a Hopper to try soon, but this is kind of what I expect. Though it seems both have the ability to be easily tamed or unleased when necessary

Really loved that whole write up dude, I finally feel like I can relax a bit more here with more units out and about, guys popping in with great early useage stories that harken back to my first July 4th beach weekend with Ziggy (maybe I should finally share those full posts from the beta thread, the ones I kept promising and kept procrastinating...) Now you can all see why I have been oh so smitten by this vape! :luv:

I really had fun throwing in extra stuff on the first 10 orders so as promised here is the FC give-away.

Just a reminder, all emails submitted to be on the waiting list will go to the head of the line as previously stated in this thread.

Have a great weekend all... I am off to my happy place... building Zion's.

When you gonna start taking international orders? :D
Just a reminder, most questions that I get asked are in my FAQ

But, in the spirit of better customer service, The cut & paste is shown below.

Will you be shipping units outside of the USA?
Other than the Lifetime Zion’s already sold we will not be shipped outside of the US due to the cost of shipping, customs and international safety certification requirements. The only shipments planned outside the US are the 50 beta units of the single and manual battery units for development purposes. Some of our customers may choose to use a third party shipping company, however RastaBuddhaTao does not recommend this practice but will still honor the warranty. However, will only pay US rates for the return shipping and is not responsible for its whereabouts once it leaves the US.

It's true, I am known for poor customer service. If I where a potential customer like you, I wouldn't buy any RBT vaporizers (Jedi Voice)

Last night I wrote basically a short novel (I put it in word and it was something like 8 pages...) but then I wanted to sit on it and wait. An experiment so to speak. We are such scientists on this forum after all :)

But, I was ultimately straying from my points with emotion; as someone who works in small business (4 people total) I can sympathize with being overworked and having a lot on your plate. But, choosing not to answer potential customers emails, and ignoring them is a horrible business practice. The excuse of "building" is simply that, an excuse. Justification. IMO, shoddy CS.

I know it's not nearly the same at all, but here is some perspective. I have to build the "brains" of PLC controllers. I have to write the logic of them too. I have to try to sell our system and engineering experience which is a slew of other stuff too.... I can spend all day building, but if I don't sell it, its not worth anything. And if I do sell it, you know that's much nicer $$$ than the guy who emailed me today who was simply looking for X,Y, & Z module. But you know, I don't actively choose to ignore that guy. Its less money but a sale is a sale. Maybe I can add some value to him in another way. A sale is a sale. A Customer is a customer. "No such thing as a stupid question."

Oh, yeah, your FAQ. Control + F "Exotic Woods" not found. I wanted to send you a blank, that sometime down the line, whether it was after the 200 or whatever, I said multiple times time wasn't a factor. If you actually read the message you'd see that. If this was totally out of the question, I think it warrants discussion, as hey business is business, whether you could of accomadated or not a response was owed. And you certainly will never see a lick of my $.

Because, back to the experiment. I reached out to you, the only way possible since you didn't respond to the email. I said I sent you an email asking a bunch of questions. Right here in this thread. I'm not going to rewrite them, but you should of taken that opportunity to check. I even primed you up giving you the whole "spam" bs as an easy out. I gave you over 24 hours, plus the week you didn't respond, and it surely cracked me up on here today that you could have easily gotten a sale today had you just simply gotten back to me instead of bemoaning users on here who aren't voicing or saying anything unreasonable. You wanted that golden star about all the good stuff you did over the last two weeks, yet, you actually just let a sale fall right. through. your. inbox. Quality. Checking an email being a strenuous task that takes precious time away. Quality. Telling me not to buy your product....lol. OK, now that is priceless. I certainly willnot. That's not good CS at all.

I tout good CS that I'm really happy with just as much as I'll tout poor CS that I'm not. Seeing as how you actively chose me not to be a customer, not hard. A real net positive.

I don't mean to begrude the mood of the rest of the thread, "kill the vibe" but I wanted to wait the extended period of time to see if he would reach out and respond back until I responded here, my only means of communication. I sincerely hope everyone, even you RBT, has a great weekend, and enjoy your products, but this is clearly not for me. Functionally looks sweet. @Philreal187 I saw you said you had a September preorder so hit a brotha up when it comes by, I totally would love to try it and check it out. Perhaps that would change my mind, but I don't know, I like knowing I give my money to good people who treat everyone equally and fairly and don't whine over simple critiques or comments that aren't 100% in their line of thought, but who am I to judge :)

No offense intended, but I mean, if you choose to reply to some people, and choose not to others, that is not treating everyone equally and fairly. Facts....Figured a guy whose name was Rasta Buddha Tao would be all about that. My mistake. Won't be back here.

Addendum: I saw you posted twice while I was writing this. I will be curious to see how many are sold, but I do think in general it is a lot more clear. And I also appreciate you having the spirit of more customer service. That shit is important. You lost a customer today, but maybe someday ill give you a lick of my money ;)

:peace: and love all have a great weekend.

@HellsWindStaff I think the biggest difference is that you have a company, whereas RBT has a hobby. It's a shame that he's lost a customer, but he's been telling people the same thing the entire time. If you really really want to contact somebody, just read what everyone else has written, which is more than enough info for now. Working with exotic blanks and such might be fun, once it changes from being a hobby to being something more.

This is all pure speculation on my part. I knew it was going to be a lumpy ride. Now it's less lumpy and the product, I can assure you, is quite good.

Happy drama...

Edit - I'm just feeling defensive as I just got it, and really like it. It was worth the wait. Yes I have some special wood, and it was discussed quite awhile back about custom wood blanks, but IIRC it added an unknown element into the mix. Using the same wood makes it a bit more predictable to build. Custom work is always trickier in any industry. If you want to see some cool stuff check out @phattpiggie s spiffy skins from last year sometime. He's got some great ideas :)

I hope his post made some sort of impact on you. I'm locked in with my pre order and I'm sticking around, but honestly, and this is only coming from observations of this thread, I can't stand or even understand the way you've gone about your CS on here. Straight up telling people to not buy your product. Ignoring relevant questions. And most importantly just coming off as not giving a fuck. Which is awful when you ARE the company talking to YOUR customers.

Just FYI, from my pov you've come off as a total dick more than once on here.

I don't think you're a bad dude but that's bc I just don't care enough. Once I get my Zion I'll probably never post again. You'll hopefully never hear from me again (as long as I don't need to use that lifetime warranty).

**BTW this post is only meant to enlighten. No beef here, but if you're product is as good as it sounds I'd hate for you to hold yourself back bc of simple (albeit time consuming and annoying) customer service issues.

Peace
