I gotta admit the first didn't really appeal to me due to size, But this on the other hand has my attention. I do wish it had manual buttons but not a deal breaker. The Evoke i am awaiting has to be app connected as well for temp adjustment.

I know people who like the original FIREFLY? @natural farmer got me into it!
$269?
$120 units are lighter and always work?

I hope the new unit solves their battery being so weak?

Ahhh yes that was another issue that led to a decision against the first. I got my fingers crossed for a min of 1,000 mah 1,500 or higher would be great, But i don't wan't to put expectations too high since i favor those tasty convection draws so much.

@C No Ego we get it. You do not care for the BT aspect of this vape. You've made it abundantly clear in your last 4 posts in this thread. So.. this vape is not for you. This is why you will often see people saying there is no 'best vape.' It's all subjective. What's good for one may not be good for another.

However, further posting along these lines will be considered company/product bashing.

Sounds more like you denying him of his right of free speech. I see people post great things and points about a product all the time 8-9 posts strong but no one accuses them of marketing a product to win buyers. Just saying if you dont like it scroll past it lol

@Frandemarco are you aware that I am a moderator here?

I was not denying him his 'freedom of speech.' If I was, I would have deleted his posts. I allowed 4 of them; all saying this vape is not for him because of the BT feature.

I don't think the point of the firefly is to have temp control through out the session because that's not how they intended it to be used... perhaps idk I haven't been reading up :hmm:? It's not like a flowermate or air from my point of view.

Now I've never even used the first one but it seems like the MFLB but with convection instead of conduction. It's a lot more manual than your average automatic. So with the new temp control just kinda reminds me of the PA, you set it to where you like it and then go from there, you really control temperature with your draw rate.

Though I could be mistaken.

Just don't take it for what it's not I guess thats my point.

You are not mistaken. That is how it was designed...find a range you like, use it most of the time.

Whether or not users are satisfied with this paradigm is up to them, and remains to be seen. (I am, but I do agree local temp control would eliminate the issue entirely.) Some folks have decided a priori that this will not work for them, before they've even tried it. Though I think most would change their minds if they used the FF2, given the cost and relative inability to try before you buy, I can understand their non-interest in the device. As someone who's been happily using a somewhat-unfinished version, my reaction to that is "their loss"....but I have enough losses of my own to worry about these days. :p;)

Wow, I did not mean to de rail anyone's enthusiasm here at this thread at this time and I'm sure that from the looks of this vape it will be a very nice vape for large audiences but some of its high tech functions do not appeal to me and the loss of simple function to high tech takes adjustments in thought to consider. I just hope the trend does not follow throughout the entire portable vape world, we really need more simple function and quality over higher tech function IMO. also, for a portable vape I tend to self adjust vape temp on the fly constantly and not everyone does that, but for me it better matches what the herb needs as the session progresses. Peace

Yeah, I'm with you on wanting to see more reviews before jumping on board.

I respect @mitchgo61's opinion, and believe he is offering as objective an opinion as possible, but I would like to hear other opinions nonetheless. As to the batteries, I also am hoping for better performance, but I'm reasonably happy with the 770's, so that's not a big worry for me. Rather, it's more an issue of the more subjective matters; taste, vapor volume (I'm becoming more of a cloud chaser as my tolerance is climbing), and ease of use (so I can share it).

Hmm, that last enntence might be saying I just need to try the damn thing for myself. :)

Nice new angle from their instagram:

Looks like the cover is the only part that gets painted with your choice of color. It looks pretty good to me, and I love the capacitive buttons. Not thrilled that they got rid of the metal mouthpiece, but it could have been worse!

It's a nice looking device for sure. I can't of like the design slightly better than the Firefly 1.

Correct, the color is only on the lid. Looks like the production model is nearly identical to the prototype....the finished lid is a little nicer (the metal trim is a little wider). Functionality-wise the new mouthpiece is a huge improvement IMO.

@mitchgo61 2 questions buddy.

The first one the sooner you can answer the better. Are the car chargers compatible? If so I'm going to buy a FF1 car charger and limp my FF1 batteries along since I can use it with the new one. If not then I'll be waiting to get FF2.

Second, if you put the temp to concentrate mode, is it too much to enjoy vaping flowers? Do you feel like high temp is better, or is it easy to set to concentrate mode and vape buds without "overcooking".

Apologies for not knowing the answer to number 1. I think the answer is "yes". The batteries appear the same except for the tab that allows you to lift it. (I was told something like "you can use the old battery in the new FF, but you'll have trouble getting it out!") Which makes me think they are all compatible.

Second question...I was told if I used the "concentrates" setting for dried flowers that "you WILL combust that shit!". So I think it's too high. I can give it a try if you like...combustion is the worst-case scenario. :p So far I haven't had the guts!

OK no need to combust in your beauty @mitchgo61

Do you have a firefly battery you can try in the 2 prototype?

Also you misunderstood. I want to know if the firefly 1 car charger will charge the firefly 2. But its very interesting to know the 770s will work in the ff2. Makes me want to order more for my ff1 while I wait.

I did misunderstand you, sorry. I would say "no" to that....the charger input on the device is completely different. It's a magnetized contact, not a male/female plug.

Yes, the FF1 battery will fit and work, but I'm afraid to try it since I was warned I might not be able to remove it!

You can always hit it with a suction cup haha. But I was more interested in the charger. No reason to downgrade to old batteries.

I'll be patient and get the firefly 2 asap. My quest for the portable of choice continues!

@mitchgo61 is the new battery still 770mah or has the capacity increased?

Still 770. Looks identical to me, other than the little tab.

All I have is the cradle that charges the FF2 with the battery....I haven't seen the external chargers. The cradle uses USB, not the old proprietary FF charger. So maybe "no" is still the right answer. I'm not being very helpful, am I?

Hmm.

FF looks better than FF2.
Bummer.
Still looks nice though.

I kind of know what you mean. It's a cool-looking little device but the 1 reads a little more like classic sports car or something. I wrote this a couple pages back:

"One thing that the 1 has over the 2...that heft that it has is missing in the 2. The 2 is much much lighter and smaller and more of a "portable" but there's a solid vibe you get from the 1 that 2 doesn't have. 1 feels like a classic car or something....2 is just missing that kind of vibe. It has nothing to do with utility, and it's an elusive, almost emotional thing, but when you hold them side by side you notice it."

I think size has something to do with it...the thing that makes the 1 a little unwieldy as a portable is also the thing that imbues it with an elegance that the 2 doesn't quite match. (Keep in mind I'm judging from a lid that isn't the final version....which looks a little nicer in pix.) The color only being on the lid may have something to do with it, also. It's still a pretty canny intersection of form and function, though, and in the case of the latter, a huge improvement.

@mitchgo61 no you answered my question. The car charger won't work which is all I needed to know to avoid ordering a ff1 charger and then having the ff2 go on sale shortly after. Saved me some $$ I'll get either a ff2 and car charger if they have one, or ff2 + extra batteries. Or both.

I'm putting all my eggs in the ff2 basket right now. Maybe it'll finally be the portable to satisfy me haha.

I feel like I'm the most difficult portable vaporizer consumer to shop for. Everything is close but no cigar. And I know its not just me, my home VAS has been 100% eliminated lol

LOL you just described me 100%. My Cloud Evo has me more than covered at home, I love my Pax 2 because it's so stealthy but it could taste better and be more efficient, and I am in love my Herc SR74X(I cannot wait for the 510 bottom finally!!!) But I am very interested in getting the FF2 because then I could have that device for my concentrates and flowers. I am about to look through the pages, however I don't recall reading how the FF2 does with concentrates, any beta testers care to chime in?
