Discontinued The Grasshopper

Just thought I'd let y'all know that (knock on wood) mine's still going strong, and I'm SO glad I have it for carnival season!! I'm thinking of rigging a lanyard or old phone cord tether to make sure I keep mine ON my person Mardi Gras day. (Or maybe I'll stick with a concentrate pen on such a chaotic day. I'd really hate to lose it on such a cluster-fucky chaotic fun day)
Point is: so far so good! (Just to remind y'all, I was a Dec 11 backer, green ti. I gifted my SS to a retired, older person, and his is still working great too! He only uses the magnetic charger so far as well. I mainly use a Nitecore, but occasionally use the magnetic USB with no problems.)

EDIT: I did use my Prima on a parade I played last weekend. It doubles as a hand warmer, and a full chamber in that thing lasted me for the hours-long parade...hitting it every so often. I do recommend the prima...I need to post a review in that thread. Something nearly everyone is wrong about that one: It is like 60% convection and 40% conduction...NOT full conduction, which means it tastes great for session one, but you lose flavor/efficiency if you revisit a bowl later, as the residual heat eats it up somewhat. I still use my firewood 3.0 at home through water sometimes because something about the slight woodiness is warming, but there's technique involved, and it's MUCh easier to just stick my hopper on my Orbiter and rip...and my flowermate mini is collecting dust. It DOES work great through water at home, but why bother when I have quicker full convection options for going through water at home?)

less than two weeks after I got mine, it got the flashing blue/red lights and no longer works

Sorry to hear that, man. You big complainer! j/k :D

They do take care of faulty units...maybe not at lightning speed, or as priority, but they get to it. I sent in my 3rd warranty request last Tue and I should be getting my replacement this weekend according to the tracking. I never got the cop lights but 4 bad back ends and 3 units later, I've definitely had my fair share of dealing with the warranty process.

I've read a few folks mention posters as being "complainers" for reporting negative feedback. That's kind of annoying to read over and over. I don't feel I've complained once, just reported the facts as I've experienced them. I do understand that people can be little bitches, sure, but not all reports of unsuccessful stories are complaints. I'm trying to provide helpful info for all, hopefully they translate that way.

I'm just never going to say anything regarding the subject of reliability again. I came home from work, set the grasshopper up just like I always do, took one GLORIOUS rip, aaaaaaand it's gone. 5 months it lasted. So sad. Red lights come on for a couple seconds and then turn off. no heat, no nothing. Regular charger still charges the batteries. Nitecore i2 says they're both fully charged. The end of an era?

For clarification: I don't get the red and blue lights. Just a single red light for maybe 2 seconds and then the whole thing goes dark. My back end never really ever got hot and the battery still charges normally when I plug it into the standard charger (at least, it seems that way).

Update: The lights flash weird on the standard charge. They do a rapid double blink. Once dim and then once more at normal brightness. Yup, this thing is dead. I'm devastated, to say the least.

Hello all!

It's been awhile. My mother had several heart surgeries over christmas amd I had alot of hard drive issues. I wanted to say I have been having alot of issues with my hoppers. I have actually had to get mulyiple replacements and am about to be on a 6th. This last time after leaving it to charge it appeared as though the hopper fried. The air holes have heat burns and the device is 100% dead.

I had been having alot of trouble getting it to charge leading up to this and they sent me a new charger. I am wondering if the wall plug i was using may have caused the issues. I was using the same plug i use for my phone. I expect to only charge the new one via usb port.

This new policy of needing to pay for return shipping is .... Odd. I dont mind completely with how many times they did it for free but. I feel some people who have been getting a DOA unit should not have to pay to return it.

GHL may want to talk to some lawyers regarding having people pay for shipping especially for DOA hoppers.
In Virginia vendors are supposed to repair new goods at their own expense within the first year (at a minimum.)

Definitely look into your respective states warranty laws, and if you have a problem with your hopper make sure to let HL know that you understand your rights in that aspect.

I know we are a small sample but its not like out small community will experience 10x the failure rate they claim and have their numbers be realistic. If someone is on their 6th hopper, that is either one hell of an anomaly, or there is a higher than 5% failure rate as claimed.

I still am feeling very misled. The back of the line seemed like a good place at first, but now it just seems like I'm waiting for the inevitable return of my new vape for warranty before I even get to hold it.

Seems like only warranties being shipped out recently. Yet again waiting on an update that probably won't tell us what is really going on. Keep thinking I see the light at the end of the tunnel, but its just a train headed straight for us..

Maybe.... it will show up by the end of February now..........:bang:

I live in italy and all this failure gh make me really scary...the expedition return cost/time for me are really high and the vaporizer seems to be less reliable then what i thought...
Maybe the right thing for me is to ask a refound and wait until the gh became REALLY flawless...
Sorry for my english and for the little complain.

dafuq... I'm still optimistic regardless all this negative feedback on the GH. Fingers crossed as time goes by HL will be figuring out what went wrong with previous batches. Nevertheless, too many negative comments for such a real beauty, as it looks from the screen and all the vids that go around the net.
HL should really get on rebuilding their good reputation on GH before it's too late.

I was about to write "It's build to last" but I didn't. ;) Whatever. That Stainless Steel really is build to last.

An update on my failed grasshopper:

I'm pretty sure it's the backend. It seems almost like it isn't making proper contact with the battery. Sometimes I click it and it blinks red as I click but when I let go of the button it goes dark, other times it turns red for 2 seconds and then goes dark. I'm gonna file a warranty claim later today. Needless to say I'm pissed, though. This is the busiest time of year for me at work and this little guy was making it so much easier for me when I came home. Oh well, I guess I'll go back to my pax...

A device is nothing more than that. If you expect a life change, that comes from within you. We are here in the toy department of life and none of this angst is worthwhile. It will be what will be and if you don't like it or the wait .....move on.

Sorry, didn't mean to attempt to read anyone else's mind. I wanted to express my inner conversation with myself.

It's a sound idea to have backup in every part of life... but especially for the essential stuff. My GH will have plenty of it for what seems like inevitable service downtime.
Can the backup be a little overkill? I'm thinking of ordering an herbalizer or volcano today for while I wait lol

A log would be closer to the Hopper they can be left on 24/7, If your set on bag vapes don't forget the Super surfer. The bag vapes have limited use if your into the freshest vapors, And the Super is the only top shelf bag vape that can also do whips.

You can't go wrong with the Herbalizer.... it's the best desktop IMHO, although not cheap.

Man, reading reports of multiple failures, then I get hope from those running for 5 months (i'd be happy with that longevity!).... not sure I can handle this roller coaster! I'm giving the GH a shot, and if it goes down again i'll cut my losses, but i'm not going through the warranty process more than twice. I'm living it up to the universe and fate!

Sounds similar to what the one I'm using does. Flick the clicker with your hand or lightly tap it, do it when it goes dark. It should come back on then go blue (act normal). Or if you're tapping it while its off it does seem to make it work more consistently, but doesn't fix it permanently.

Scalding hot back end = warranty claim, most likely. They told me it's supposed to get hot to a degree, not burning hot tho.

I had just unplugged and put away my Underdog!
Old faithful now heated back up. Though now that I think about it, that one went back to UD for repairs twice in its early days, but it's been working like a champ for a couple of years now.

If I need a portable back up, I do have my Solo, but I don't really like it much....
