The wire is nichrome. Temp control is stainless steel, nickel, or titanium.
understood. just another warning to people to double check their mod settings if they are going to play around with the evolve atty. cheers!

Any news on the Ti coils for this device? I think the evolve has the best design in the E-cig style category, and would be perfect if it had a Ti option.

Alternatively does anyone know of E-cig style atty with a ceramic cup, large airflow holes, quartz rods, and a coil cap?

As mentioned in my previous post #93 the nichrome taste dominated after a few draws on my Evolve. 3 or 4 new coils down the road and same result, tainted flavor. Been spoiled with the competition's titanium and just can't go back. Really like the the outer design so decided to rebuild one with a 1.5 ohm ceramic donut. The results are fantastic. These little batteries pack a punch. Enough to drive the ceramic element. Instant vapor and repeated pure flavor. @Yocantech you may want to research ceramic elements for the Evolve. I'll be rebuilding my entire spare 5 pack of coils with the donuts.

It would be awesome to try that, you should build more and sell them. I know I would purchase one.

Nice find @Nube Scrutator, those ceramic donuts look they'd work in an RDA too?
Any chance you'd point us in the right direction to buy these (or similar but bigger ones?)
Many thanks

Since we like the coils in these to glow red hot (especially when cleaning), Titanium would not be safe to use (unless it was only used on a temperature controlled device.) At high temperatures, Titanium oxidizes and creates titanium dioxide which is very, very bad to inhale.

If you take a brand new piece of titanium wire, superheat it and let it cool, you'll notice that the wire has a white buildup on it. That's titanium dioxide, and they make white paint with it. One e-juice manufacturer used it to make their e-juice bright white, then ended up getting sued when people discovered it's terrible for peoples' lungs.

In my opinion, we should be asking Yocan to use SS (Stainless Steel) 316L. This is a very popular wire for temperature control, with a very clean taste and the added advantage of being much safer at high temperatures.

Hi TokerOnWheels, thanks for your nice suggestion of using SS (Stainless Steel) 316L. Recently our engineers are testing this type of coils to make sure the material is safe for vaping. Also we need to check the taste from vaping ss coils and the heating speed. We will publish the answer next month. For now please you can check the following pictures of the SS 316L heating wire:

Yep, after seeing all the love here I had to grab one, only took about a week of use for me to order another for a gift. These little pens hit great and taste doesn't fail after the first hit so you can load a decent bowl and actually use it as a portable..what a concept ;)

I'd love to hear about new coil materials, but it's already the best LayG pen I've used. I'm really glad to see Yocan has a hit with this pen, they have always been a company focused on new solutions, rather than cheap re-brands.

Got one of these yesterday
KICK ass pen
SMOOTH hits
Great size
Nice size well
Not sure on battery life
Did I say SMOOTH hits?
Help me to understand how to load it?

650maH?

Most of my stuff that requires a battery is 1100maH or higher?

@ataxian Remove the coil cap. Use the waxtool if u need it. Wipe it on the coils and then scrape the top part of the wax tool the rim off the atomizer to get the last bit off of it. Use ur thumb to wipe any oils away from the screw grooves. Then put the cap on turn it on and draw

@ataxian ha I'm new to these atomizer things as well when I first got it wasn't sure about putting it on the coils either but it worked out . Vito's vid helped me out. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do ;)

I feel like a dumb ass!

After I took it apart and reloaded it correctly I got pretty ripped!

I do like the size.
A Battery charger with a USB port on the boat for sure.

My SHATTER is DUTCH CRUNCH and this device can handle.

Very good product once you figure it out.

Instructions would help!

+1 to instructions. Also if you haven't figured it out yet, short 2-4 sec pulses on the switch are best for efficiency and making flavor last.
