Lately the Vapcap has become somewhat of a daily driver. I still use my logs for the big reliable hits, but I find myself sipping on the vapcap throughout the evening.

I think a large part of it is how fun it is to use. It's right in the sweet spot of being kind of involved but not requiring all my focus. The digger-outer is just brilliant design. The routine of loading, heating, hitting, and unloading keeps my hands busy. I love it.

I love how the VapCap feels just like smoking a joint but without any of the wastefulness. Even rolling it around in my fingers while I torch reminds me of rolling a joint .

I feel like the joint experience was the only thing that vaping full time was missing - and now we have that too.

@Tommy10 I am sure once @VapCap is on top of things he will be willing to sell all the parts separately. I would like to buy a couple of the stainless caps as spares for myself. I can see one getting lost.

@ZC nice piece of wood. What is it?
I am trying out any design that comes to mind. Looking forward to seeing more from you and any other VC pimpers.

Offering for today. The brass gets hot but that's sort of a 'No shit Sherlock' type of thing and you only put your finger on it once. Or twice maybe. I don't mind the stainless tube as a MP but it will get a blackwood tip added.
This one is the nearest thing to a joint I will ever get. I used to get 3 or 4, at push, singles out of a gram. My VC can get me 15 to 20 bowls to the same amount and each one packs the punch of a one skinner.

Just a PSA:

Do not try to clean the glass of the original Vapcap by putting it in the green case with iso and shaking it. I'm sure I've read a couple people here have cleaned their glass like this, and so despite people mentioning how fragile the inner glass tube is, I tried it out. I put both inner and outer glass tubes in the green case together, added some iso, closed the lid and gave it a little shake... And broke off a bit of the 'lip' on the glass inner tube (on the end closest to the mouthpiece).

It's still functioning fine, but I'm gunna want to order 2 or 3 replacements in case it happens again. My thinking now for cleaning is to have at least two inner glass tubes, one can be left soaking in iso whilst I dirty up the other one I the Vapcap, then switch them up.

As I'm an international customer, to cut down on shipping il order these parts when the new mouthpieces come in (any eta @VapCap ?), and I'm also expecting a triple torch lighter as there were none in stock when George sent out my order.

Also an update on my ti woody: some of you may remember that mine arrived with a crack on each end, along a grain. I havnt used the ti woody as much as the glass OG, because I prefer the OG, however on the woody, the crack by the ti tip doesn't seem to be getting worse, but the one by the mouthpiece is getting bigger/moving further down the stem, and is now affecting my draw- I can tell fresh air is being sucked straight through the crack into my mouth, bypassing the vapor path. Hopefully I can get a replacement, because it's been quite a noticeable difference in vape quality, with much whispier hits now, and I preferred it without the extra fresh air flow.

Peace

I love my butane vapes, Lotus, Vapman, and Hammer so I had to try this one. I've been using it exclusively for the past four day and I'm impressed. I think I really like it because it reminds me of using a one hitter bat which I used with a dugout for so many years. Starting out it's a bit on the toasty side but after getting use to it I've worked that out and plan on trying to find some other torches to try. The one I use for the Lotus and Vapman isn't really hot enough. I can see myself using this vape on a regular basis now though and feel it's a great value and a little beast.

i completely forgot to post my unboxing pics from when I received my Ti Woody a few weeks ago, so bleh, here they are. The woody is still going strong despite it's crack, I didn't hit it for about a week and then when I did, well, I like this vape's signature yes I do. Sorry pics are a little dark and I'm too lazy/medicated right now to photoshop them.

I have never used a butane vape before and i'm trying to switch from combustion. Have the woody cracking issues been fixed with new updates? Any other future updates? Will most likely pull the trigger on this soon.

I don't know if you can "fix" wood cracking... it is kinda in the nature of wood.
It is just chance from what I can tell, some cannot tolerate the process and others have no issue.

Ed can probably tell you a million stories of wood splitting on him, most always he will spot it and discard; but I imagine occasional splits develop after it leaves the shop.

George posted a picture somewhere in the last few pages of a Woody with a metal ring around the bottom, I imagine to help insulate the wood from the heat.

It's not just "the nature of the wood", the thinness that the wood sleeve is being made at - that is also a big factor to the high crack rate - it's not just chance.

My VapCap I put into my 18mm Afzelia WonG has be holing up like a champ.

There are an unimaginable number of variables that can cause splitting. But it doesn't hurt to use a nice thick piece of a dense wood. Also alowing for expansion at the tip would help rather than making the fit so snug.

I have a couple customs from Ed coming in for my VapCap, I'll be sure to post them once they're in.

On my ti woody, the cracks have developed along the grain, it's quite understandable how and why it's cracked. I dare say the temperature changes that the wood must go through in shipping, especially internationally, does not help this. The very thin walls of the wooden sleeve is the main culprit I believe, but I can see how the metal collar that George has added will help that.

My only problem is that I have a crack on both ends (it arrived like this, although both were only small- I don't want anyone to think George is shipping faulty product, because he's not), and it's only the crack on mouthpiece end that's been getting worse (so far); the crack is travelling down the grain down the shaft of the sleeve, and is now affecting the hit quality because I can no longer just cover it with my lip.

I'm sure George will sort me out, I'm just waiting until he adds the ability to buy replacement parts, so I can group a few things into one package for international shipping.

Peace

Edit to add: yea a thicker walled wooden sleeve would definitely be nice, and would help tremendously with the cracking. I think George is kinda limiting the diameter so that it still fits comfortably in the dugout. @VapCap and @edstnt : I think a lot of us would love a wider diameter wooden body option for a ti tip Vapcap- perhaps like a cigar shape as has been suggested before?

I've just compared my eds enano stem with the ti woody (both Cocobolo) and the od is maybe 2mm bigger than the tiwoody, but still fits in the dugout. I can see though the inside diameter of the ti woody needs to be a lot smaller than the enano stem to accommodate the stainless condenser tube and allow airflow through the carb hole...

So basically essentially we need a wider outside diameter wooden sleeve to minimise risk of cracking. Jeez this device is good, I am rambling on and on and on and on (sorry)
Peace

Introduced a long time smoker to my VC he didn't get along with it. He got on okay with and preferred my Xmax. I think this may in part be to do with his fat hands and the fact that his mountain bike is now Li-ion powered. So maybe a slight bias. A one horse power pushbike certainly puts a fat grin on your face. I handed it back to him and said 'I would end up getting arrested if I had one of them'.
Which in a round about way led to this African Blackwood.

I just assumed there would be a fix for it with any final updates.

I saw that posted as well, but thought i saw some still cracking...could be imagination lol

Your post is what made me assume the issue had been fixed. Seems the thicker wood isn't as problematic. I like what you've done with your vc the most. Did you have the tube custom ordered or is there a link to it from eds?

I like the ti glassy alot too, but dont like how it looks when dirty. Not really going for public use. But not looking like a dirty glass pipe at first glance would be more ideal imo. Planning to use on vacations and just around home. Combustion smell lingering around is becoming a nuisance.

That is a 3 inch 18mm WonG I already had from Ed, for my UnderDog. The diameter of the SS tip used for the nylon stem, also used in my WonG is the same as the VapCap. I drilled my own carb and just put the pieces together.

Ed is well aware of this as well and if you message him I'm sure he can whip something up for ya. He is for me.

This time I'm going with a sleeve with the diameter closer to a 14mm so I can see how that holds. My 14mm buckeye WonG developed a little crack so I stopped using it. This one will be Afzelia and should hopefully hold up better.

Thanks so much Ed! So much better then I had imagined, can't even find a single flaw. Straight knocked it out of the park Ed! Also about 7 caps in with it and it performs perfectly:smug:

I have run probably 30-40 loads since I got my VapCap and no crack :)

Took it to the bar the other day and saw some old friends who I hadn't seen in a while. They were hugely impressed!

Don't know how long its been there, but there is actually a crack. Doesn't affect function in the slightest and is with the woodgrain so well that it's pretty hard to notice.

I think you're thinking of mine, which had the steel collar lower down, and still cracked immediately. However even so it still works fine, it has two or three now, but its not seeing heavy use or any cleaning since the first. Still having mixed results but I think it's me? So many variables at play in my use too... Maybe not bc friends haven't been into it, but it did take me a bit to get where I got so who knows. I hope to have more variations to try soon

The resolution for the cracking has been posted by George as new o rings and the new steel collar at the tip. But I don't know if anyone has received one yet, parts still coming in

Those thicker Ed WonGs look great, dual use is ideal anyway, just can't fit in the stash like that unfortunately, great for home though.

Lovin your many mods as well @phattpiggie !
