Vaping/Being vaked at work, experiences, advice, funny stories?

Herb gardener...
For me the magical herb is an escape from my busy life at the end of a stressful day. If I did It morning to night it would become life and lose its magic.

That's my experience anyway. Obviously if your med condition calls for constant use, that's a different kettle of fish.

Ditto! I don't get buzzed before starting work or while working and on the weekends I get a few honey-do's out of the way before my first vape. Makes me really appreciate the 'happy' because I earned it. Kinda like exercising before eating that whole box of Oreo's. :D

Working in the medical field I wouldn't feel comfortable vaping prior to or at work. Although I feel normal within a few hours of vaping I make sure to have at least 8 hours before my next shift.

I have definitely worked other jobs in my left where I would be happy to have a few puffs now and again but I do get hesitant about doing any driving so I may have abstained anyways.

I vape at work. Previous jobs I would never, but my current job I have a lot of downtime and nightshifts where I don't do anything but look at a screen and talk to co-workers. On those days/nights I treat myself, but I don't do it regularly and when I do I just have enough to have a slight buzz. In a way, it's kind of like having 1 beer, enough to treat yourself but not enough to start making mistakes. There's a nice cozy spot near my work that I wouldn't find anywhere close to where I live, so I also make the most of it.

I'm in the medical field. I have come to work after vaping (usually outside of 4 hours) but we're so high-stress that it makes me nervous to be even a little altered, don't want to make mistakes with people's lives. However, I do have one memorable time- I've told this story somewhere here, but oh well, I'm old.
I used to have a thing about edibles- there's nothing like being well and truly fucked up. But the results are, as always, unpredictable. Back in my combustion days, I had a firecracker that didn't go off. I figured that I'd slept through the high and took myself to work. It was a day that I wasn't at my normal location and I was on special assignment. I stopped at Starbux and grabbed a chai and went on. I neglected to order my usual soy milk, and the whole milk was enough to activate all the THC in my system. I was so messed up, and super nervous about anyone noticing- did I mention that the special assignment meant working with my boss' bosses?
How I still have a job is astounding.

Basically, it depends. 90% of my tasks are weed friendly, so I certainly partake most days all day at work. But I find that if there is significant amounts of welding to be done, or if I am working around the backhoe or have to focus on the back of a seeder for hours, it's just safer or more profitable not to be freshly high. Different tokes for different folks.

When I worked slinging ciggs and lotto at a convenience store every customer assumed I smoked. So many people on vacation would come and try and buy bud from me. They'd always ask the same way.

"You know where I could get some weed? Come on now, I know you smoke weed, you work a convenience store."

Or when I'd ask

"Would you like a bag?"

They answer

"A bag of what?"

At most places like that everybody including the managers and store owners smoke heavy. There's no reason not to.

With the Assholes I have to deal with all day, if I didn't get baked at work I think I would either walk out or get fired for flipping out customers or fellow employees!!! During work the herb is my medicine it helps keep me level headed, after work it is my stress reliever.

But I like it!
Before I wound up on disability I took frequent car breaks for medicating. The company was going to set up the boardroom for me, but it seemed a bit overboard. Very nice of them to offer tho.

PS - I worked in IT management, and the last couple of years I was so knocked out on painkillers that I think I would have functioned a whole lot better on MJ, instead of feeling like I was watching everything through a closed circuit TV with little sound and frequent commercials...

Lol I used to work in a convenience store and me and the manager used to chain smoke splifs. Like @Farid said it was kind of part of the job. But yea I was a tutor for a while and obviously was sober then, just depends really. I do totally agree that being high 24/7 kind of takes the fun out of it.

I don't understand how people think they can do their jobs and people not know you're "a little" high. I'm afraid I fuck up enough when completely sober.

Particularly if you start and finish high - how on earth would they know?

Also - unlike alcohol, the response varies pretty widely from person to person. Alcohol it boils down to "are you a happy, sad, or angry drunk?"

And, WHAT you do matters, too. Driving school bus, directly responsible for someone's health and safety? I would rather you were sober. Data entry clerk? I am not too fussed unless your performance sucks, which could be herb or it could just be you suck at your job - if you always work high, how can i discern? If you get high and your performance suffers - don't get high at work.

Yep!

Agree with both. My last day at work (last job in Denver) I worked high. The day before saw my supervisor and I snapping each other's heads off and it was incredibly stressful. My final day was much better!

And, if you use it to treat a medical condition, well, it is possible the pharma drug they would put you on would affect your performance anyway, so why be fussed if it is oxycodone or cannabis you are taking? And if you are flipping out at the least little remark when unmedicated (read: vaked) then I sure as shoot would prefer you high if it makes you MORE capable.

Depends on what you do, I think some jobs, particularly those requiring creativity would be enhanced by the use of cannabis.

There are so many variables that other than the health and safety issue, I do not think it can be considered a black & white issue.

If I have to crawl around in a Cold War era crawlspace brazing and dodging black widow spiders all day then the herb is required for motivation. If I am re-wiring high voltage panels and components, then the ride home is the best time to partake. Manual labor=vaked, Mental labor+hazardous components=non-vaked.

I don't medicate at work but one thing that always makes me laugh is gong in to the local Trader Joe's when they first open on Sunday mornings. The entire store smells like a spliff. I am now convinced that smoking out is part of their Sunday morning employee meetings ;) (Notice it about a dozen times now so it must be a pattern.)

Drug tests should be replaced by competence testing but that would probably cost more money and would not provide the legal coverage that many employers are really looking for. I worked for a guy who was just a few notches out of the game but wasn't going anywhere, his crew however was losing people who were doing the job because of blown pot test results.

Well I don't Vape while at work... but I do vape before, on lunch, and after work... so basically I'm high all day (which is the plan).... for years Ive always went to work high starting with my 1st day, so they would think thats me sober. I worked as an analyst if some sort now im a sys admin, so i dont really deal with alot of people or customers I own a Pax so I vape in the car omw to work or at home b4 I leave. The Pax has a slight smell but nothing major a quick fresh up (lotion spray cologne ) whaever u used will quickly disapaite any order.

I'm the complete opposite... I vape cause I'm afraid I'll fuck up when I'm sober. Plus with vapor there's no smell on your fingers, clothes, and if you need it get some clear eyes and your good to go. I'm working on the computer all day so I have no paranoia to worry about, and everyone's eyes are a little red and tired looking from looking at screens all day

But my job is Very flexible, there's been many times that I got too high on lunch and would let them know I would finish up working from home no big deal.

At my job it'd be pretty much impossible for me to screw up, unless I maybe fell asleep really deeply. As far as red-eyes, I don't appear to really get that from weed. If I'm really high I do get a squint going, but I'm fairly squinty anyway, and I'm almost never that high at work.

I worked in a country club kitchen when I was a kid, so I wasn't high but everyone else was. There were many shenanigans because the low-level employees were often left to run the place unsupervised. A small example- we would fill an empty water-cooler jug with butane, stick it upside down on a broom handle, and set it off like a rocket- BOOOOM!!!

Sometimes the bartender would give us stale cigars. We would light them and play 'cigar baseball' with the huge pizza-oven spatula.

Normal day job requires my full concentration. It could end up costing me financially and/or myself or customer injured or dead. Worst case scenario.
I have too many things to think about and cannot afford to miss out any of them.

Other jobs I've done whilst high.
Pointing brick work is mundane but weed, and music, can be the thing that 'get you in the zone'.
Slate roof same thing. I know there are safety issues with being on a roof and scaffold. Once you've done it for a couple of hours it just all flows nicely.

I tend to turn wood and general day to day stuff, building or fixing shit, digging holes, under the hood of my car, high but never to the point where I feel a danger to myself or anyone else around me.
