20 minutes session vapes?

Hi everybody,

I've recently entered the vaporizer market with a Cloud EVO and with a Grasshopper that is yet to arrive. I'm really really happy with my EVO, the effects are great: more buzz with less weed for longer. There's just one small thing that bothers me: my sessions last for 2-3 draws (I usually vape 0,05g or 0,1g worth of weed), and while it gets me nicely stoned, the sessions are too short for me.

Part of my "evening-relax-deconnect from the world-get baked" rituals was to enjoy my joint for 20 minutes while listening to music. Vaping does not really reproduce the ritual. So any good vaporizers that take 20 minutes to finish a bowl, produce good vapor and get you high? The Arizer Air is an option apparently?

Basically any "conduction" vape will do. Yes Solo and Air by Arizer are solid products. I like the FlowerMate 5 range myself. The Ascent is very good for long laid back sipping sessions too. The Goboof Alpha has good reviews. The Indica too, while it works. You can check the Haze 3 too, a lot of FC members like it. You can evaluate the Crafty and Mighty also but some would argue they are more hybrid than conduction.

Your choice will be mostly "one or two lithium cells". With a single cell you'll get something more portable and stealthy, but battery life will be short, no magic here (expect around 30-40 minutes per charge vs slightly above one hour for two cells models)

Single cell models can usually charge via USB at 5V while dual cell models require a dedicated wallwart charger.

Two cells yields in nearly all cases more power, so you can expect faster heat times and denser vapor.

One last thing: there's a problem with many single cell vapes and especially the ones made to look like a pen-style e-cig, in the sense that their vapor path can be super short. Making the vapor output hot and harsh (I'm thinking about vapes likes the iMag, X-Max, Herbstick Eco here)

PS: I surely forgot a lot of good models, you'll have to do some reading and when you find something you like come back here to ask us what we think of it.

I know a bunch of people that like to sit and sip the stem on a log vape like the nano. I vape more like the way you're doing now. 3-4 hits and walk away, but understand that others like to expand the session experience. Especially if you're vaping with friends. I am more of a hermit and like to vape and then move on to something else.

With the nano, you can pull the stem between sips or just leave it there and work it slowly. You can do that with lots of vapes.

BTW, what the fuck is up with that Grasshopper thing? People have been waiting forever for that vape. I hope the build-up is worth it all.

Different process different time frames but I think I know what you mean about ritual. I run small loads (.04g to .07g) most times and they are cooked (taste wise) in a few short hits. So I do the stir, pause between hits and load top off dance which helps extend the session some. However my real time eater/extender is cleaning, All the glass and tubes get a double ISO rinse which eats time but each session starts clean.

@KeroZen Thanks, I needed a few models to start with in order to be able to start comparing. Somehow, the term "session vape" is not yet super popular with Google.
Well, I don't care much about portability, I'd use it in bed most of the time. I'll have a quick delivering Grasshopper for outside that will be perfect for my needs. I'd basically want one more vaporizer which I can relax with and not be bothered too much about cleaning or needing to order new elements over time (shipping is expensive). It's gotta be comfortable to hold, that's all.

@BabyFacedFinster Well, I prefer to smoke/vape by myself too, but the longer process of consuming weed just helped to introduce me into relaxation mode :)
Well, the Grasshopper is a pen like vaporizer, but a real game changer according to people who already have one. It heats up in max 5 seconds, delivers clouds of vapor, is very efficient and can be used with bongs. Drawbacks: a pretty short vapor path, which can make it harsh. But there's workarounds. Other problem: since it's a Kickstarter project, there were quite a few problems in the beginning (being a backer makes you a beta tester basically), so there's been many delays in delivery. I've preordered one in November, since it's not yet officially released (at least in Europe), I'm supposed to get mine in February and I'm pretty excited, people are reporting less and less problems. But it's not a session vape either.

I have had the same problem with vaping sometimes, turn the temps down. Load up a ELB fully, and have it set to like 11 or 10 o clock. Draw slow. Should last you a while :)

Problem here is not the vape the amount being used a joint weights in at 1 to 2 grams and last you 20 mins so if we are vaping the same amount as whats in the joint i say a pax of volcano should work fine

However......you might try concentrates a little wax or oil on the bud will make your sessions last so much longer in any machine lol

@Havoc ,
After thinking about it a bit, you may want to take a look at a Lotus vape. I have one and it fills a very interesting niche. It is closer to the joint smoking session that you may be looking for. It is a portable but you use a torch to heat it not electricity. You don't inhale butane vapor either. The Lotus is great for efficiency, flavor and you can get enormous rips. You can use the plain alum stem or a J hook or a wpa gong for waterpieces (which I love). The main issue is you need to get comfortable with using the torch because you can char your herb if not careful. However, once you get good at it, the Lotus is a great vape for mimicing the smoking experience with all the benefits of vaping. There is no heating between rips because it relies on the torch, so you can take your time in a session.

It was my main vape for about a year before I went to the nano. But the Lotus goes with me on trips and I will use it on my glass from time to time. Another great thing about it is there is no wait time. You load and hit it. Also, great customer service and solid build.

Check it out on youtube. There is also a thread here with a very good following.

If I fill my Stock DBV wand at about 3/4 -2/3 and add Bubble, or kief or even nothing added, temps around 12-1 o'clock...

The bowl seems to never end , draw after draw...
I've watched a complete episode of Bob's Burgers while puffin on my Buddha, then realize I'm soooooo fuckin high....LOL!

There are times in which I like the long session and watch some standup comedy or the like.

But, after comparing a short 3-4 draw sesh, and the longer drawn out sesh, I realized that I was literally wasting at least half of my input material.

One-2 hit extractions are now my preferred method.

@Havoc ,

I love my miniVAP for this. A small load can be worked up thru the temp range, 4 heat options, to give you a nice long session.
With its battery, it has the longest run time by far of any portable AND
With the optional AC puck adapter, you can run as a desktop.

Very flavorful and potent vapor.
Very very efficient ---max effect with minimal herb.
Check out the miniVAP thread.

Arizer EQ, Tall Adapter from one of my mod kits, use of included wands. At .05 to .1 and convection primarily, you can sip the vapor at your leisure.

Plus you can temperature step with the EQ. Start at 160c and step up 10 degrees every 10 minutes or so... would take you an hour to get to 220c. Adjust these parameters for different length sessions.

I suggest the Solo. It turns off after 12 min but you can turn it back on. It has a small bowl but you can get 20 minutes out of your cannabis. I would just give it a stir half way through when the unit turns off. You can then turn it back on. Just relax on your couch without worrying about a cord. It has the glass air path that gives you flavorful vapor with big clouds.

The Arizer Air is a good one too but not the temperature range you can get with the Solo. With the Air I use the lowest heat with the stock stems. I need an extended air path to go higher temp wise. It could be just me though. It uses user replaceable batteries.

Many folks use both units as their daily driver. There are several different stem/mouthpieces to choose from at Planetvape.

Both units are well made and will last the owner for years to come. Check out both threads.

Edit
The Enano is a log vape and I use mine for a session vape. You can leave it on all day if you wanted. It can last as long as you need it to be. You can't lounge laying down on the couch if you wanted. It's nice to have a variety of vaporizers, depending on your mood.

Maybe if you vape at lower temperature with the evo you will be able to extend your bowl time but maybe not for 20 minutes for 0.05g unless you spread your tokes. Maybe you can get 10-20 tokes for a 0.05g bowl depending on the herb if you use low temp. If you put concentrates or kief it can last 20 tokes easily.

Somebody already suggested a log vape. When I want a longer session I use my underdog. It has no shut off and a small amount lasts a long time.
I used my UD for a long ass session last night probably about an hour. Refilled the stem a few times and used more than I usually use in a week. Was getting real tired of being stuck inside with the damn blizzard and figured getting real high would help with that. It was nice. Normally I'm a medical user and don't use enough for me to get "high" as for me that's usually an undesirable side effect. I could've stopped way earlier and still been high off my ass, the underdog is a massive powerhouse and I'd forgotten how ridiculously high I could get from it. Almost got too high, and I'm still feeling it a bit almost 10 hours later. I love my {under}dog.

So while you could get an underdog, and I certainly recommend doing so, it's possible you could use your existing vapes in ways that can extend your session. You could refill the bowl a few times or maybe pack a bit more in and take smaller sips over a longer period of time giving yourself a little bit between each. Last night was fun and I and my dog learned a few new tricks.

Call me crazy but I enjoy joint like sessions in my vapor genie. I generally load it with considerably more tham my other vapes and relax with it over 20-30 mins, on demand convection so there's no rush. Take a puff, listen to music repeat as necessary. The whole ritual is very akin to combustion.

+1 on the solo too. I just wanted to throw out an alternative you may not of considered with the VG.

check out the haze v3, I've only tried a couple vapes so cant compare to the rest but it's nice and gets great reviews on here. i grinded .7 and it filled 6 cans for the haze and a can last 10-20 min for me depending on the temp and strain. i also like how it has dual ovens so you can have them both loaded and if your session wasn't long enough you can just switch to the second oven

I still like my old NO2 for sitting back doing long drawn out no work involved sessions while my Ipod shuffles through the tunes. I like it better then my solo with the smaller loads mentioned in the first post though the solo is pretty sweet for these type of sessions too.

But really I see it as nondarb above and can stretch out a session with any 'on demand' type vape, sat earlier today listening to jams for a couple hours while using my VapCap woodie.

I find a nice stem session with my Air to replicate smoking a joint nicely. I was never a joint/spliff man but I enjoy the puffing feeling rather than my usual ripping through water when I just want to kick back & unwind. Most evenings start off with an Air stem actually.

Nothing wrong with an EQ but if I owned an Evo I would be getting a ripper portable along the lines of Solo, Air, Haze, Mighty, Mini Vape in ascending $$ value & in light of the pending GH I would be getting either a Solo (cheap stopgap beasty bitch) or a MiniVap (expensive wonder weapon of destruction) depending on cashflow.

i do this with my vg as well but can also choose to toast it in one hit. of the few vapes i have i think its the same for all, if you want it to last without reload the hits need to be cooler and shorter...the buildup effect is often worth it (not sure what that is called scientifically, like a wave on a wave).

NO SMOKING
MFLB. Affordable, reliable, and with a life time warranty. You can pick it up and put it down whenever you want without the herb in the unit being wasted. It's small and has a very similar action to traditional smoking. It's very easy to use. Bowl will last similar length to a joint. I have a Mighty, Volcano and Lotus, but I'm sitting here right now with the MFLB because it is great for that evening ritual in which you describe.

If you want to use in bed, butane is probably not the best tool.

I would suggest a solo with a high effiency stem, one load for 20 minutes and you're very good.
