Do you know about the bird?

If you have an auto stirring tool, try without it! This might work! And put a new screen in or clean the one in the unit. This might work!

Yeah, neither is an issue for me. Appreciate the suggestion, though.

I have been able to get some very light vapor since posting last week, but nothing great. I flattened out the coil and angled it downwards. Messed with the temps some more (currently at 10, 15, and 20). Have a feeling it's actually the product being used, so need to try something different there.

So it appears as if the product is at least partially to blame, as most of it is old. Vapor seems to be a little better, but still not even close to what I've seen others produce. Seems I'm seeing better vapor at lower temps, stirring after each draw, which is nice. But overall I'm not chasing clouds since as long as the contents are cooked (and they are), the unit is doing its job.

Gave it a good cleaning earlier and was surprised at the buildup on the mouthpiece screen. I know some of you run without it, but I guess based on the grind I've been using I can't unless I want a mouthful of smaller particles. Haven't done the bottle cap mod, but may in the future.

Overall, it's still a work in progress but I'm liking it more and more. The modularity of it is cool for fine tuning and cleaning purposes, and I know I'll get it dialed in eventually.

Update: my coil es no bueno. It doesn't heat evenly when testing it, so that explains why the draws have not been as productive as they could be. I removed the coil and, as best I can see, it looks like the part which is held by the screw in the post has been sheared a bit. So it is not completely intact as it should be. Perhaps it was overtightened a bit at the factory? I don't know, because I have not touched the torque on the posts since it's been in my possession. I will reach out to Joe and see what he says.

Just wanted to give some props to the woodworker we all know and love, Ed from Ed's TNT.

So after seeing his tester WPA wood here before, I really wanted something fat and stubby so I hit Ed up and asked for a quote.

We had plenty of discussion, the guy is a really genuinely nice bloke and has loads of good ideas, so much so that I also just said for him to make a second stem basically longer and whatever design he fancied.

They arrived today in the UK (no customs)

As you can see he turned something very swish indeed. Both are very nice draws and are dramatically nicer, and tighter than the original.

Love it.

Those look awesome! I sure do love the two tone feature I get with the bloodwood stem Ed did for me, but the dark wood you have with the ESV looks very nice, kinda chic but still robust. Ed sure does a great job turning these things and making such unique pieces! I use my longer stem on the regular and get the most amazing results with it. I feel I should have gotten him to make me a wong as well and may some day, but for now I use the short wood stem I got with a silicone sleeve and it makes a great swong!

Great stuff!!

Does the stubby one attached to the ESV still fits in the case?

Talked to Joe the other day (real nice guy, by the way). Talked me through things and ended up bending the coil up and slightly away from the sensor. Seems to work a bit better now. I'l wait to pass full judgement until trying with some fresher product, though.

Those look proper, for sure. Might need to reach out to Ed for one (or two)....

The Prima mesh screen fits very well the ESV!

I'm puffing on mine with a shatter saturated mesh screen, perfect tasty thick clouds at setting 15!

Do you think I can find the right allen screws in a shop?
Mines are damaged (long ones), Joe can send me for replacement but shipping cost kill the deal...although I'll need soon another coil (still using the first one!).

Thanks

The screws are a common size - M3 25mm.

Things are looking up. With fresh product, the elevape is working better. Not to the level of some of the vids I've seen, mind you, but I finally feel like the training wheels are off for me. Set at 10/15/20 for now, but still might mess with that a bit. Might also tweak the coil a 1/2 millimeter up when I clean the unit later today. But overall, it is doing a good job of utilizing the load (medium unpacked grind) and returns darkish brown AVB.

So I adjusted the coil a scintilla more upward. Unit was putting out better clouds as a result. Tried a few more temp settings (1/3/5, as an example) but wasn't getting much out of it. Went back to 10/15/20 as a result. Had some nice pulls at 10, stirred, kicked it up to 15. Then combusted. Good Lord it was awful. Didn't do anything out of the ordinary as far as my draw technique is concerned, but I was bummed it happened. So took it apart to clean to try and get the stank out of it. Still stinks, but reloaded and tried again on 10. No issues. Didn't go to 15, but might back off of temps to maybe 6/10/14 going forward....

Actually settled on 4/8/12. Not overly huge clouds, but the AVB is a nice chocolate brown at the end. I find with a coarse grind and fluffy load, I get somewhere around 8 pulls on the lowest setting stirring after every two draws, then 3 or 4 more on the medium setting, and a final 1 or 2 at the highest setting to cash it out. Also, I did the bottle cap screen mod and dig it, as a lot less of the load sticks to it. So, all in all, after having the unit for the past several weeks, I'm a big fan. The stealth, ease of use, and efficiency of it is hard to beat. It's well worth the short learning curve involved to dial it in. Kudos to Joe @Ipuffusa for a job well done. I am hopeful that the battery holds up over the long haul, as that is my only real concern going forward. I suppose the 1 year warranty on that should be good, and if I need to have it taken care after that, it shouldn't be that big of an issue in the grand scheme of things. That said......

...not sure if this is against forum rules (mea culpa if it is), but has anyone been peeking at the Zion thread lately? I must say, outside of a recent dust up between a disgruntled guy waiting to receive his production unit and the owner of the business, I gotta say it looks pretty sweet. Not as concealable as the ESV, but seems to perform on par with the ESV and is getting some rave reviews, not to mention it has user changeable batteries. I am severely tempted to pull the trigger and pre-order it (or perhaps the smaller single battery unit they also have in the works), but really don't have any actual need for it with the ESV serving me so well. This is my first vape, by the way, so this VAS I read about is apparently a real thing....

VAS is gonna catch you - you don't need to be waiting for it :D
ESV and then being infected with ZAS is nice - pre-order for sure. You will welcome them once they arrive your doorstep!:)

I don't think you can find better Customer Service in this industry than Joe @Ipuffusa

I emailed him at 3:34pm Eastern which should be lunch time in San Marcos, CA. Having experience with Joe I decided to leave him my number as I know he is one of the few manufacturer's that will call you back. Within 14 minutes, not 15 but 14 minutes I received a call from Joe. Is it bad I wasn't surprised he would call me so soon? Perhaps I should have been more surprised that he already dealt with my issue with other customers and knew exactly what to do. I was worried about the worst of course which is that I would have to send it back. But no, Joe and IpuffUSA have engineered this Black Box to be rock solid and have included so many failsafe's on the device that it literally will reset itself if you by chance run the battery completely dead.

My ESV is back up and running and I didn't have to send it back. You really gotta love that kinda customer service right there!

I hate to double post, but one post has little to do with the other except to shine more on the ESV. I just love my ESV. It is my favorite vape. I love my Daisy and Firewood 3 but not as much as my ESV.

The wood stems from EdsTNT have really made the experience with the ESV even better. The long bloodwood stem allows me to pull longer hits and really has helped me get better control of the device with my draw. I can eliminate hot spots simply by changing my draw most of the time. I also believe coil placement is a lot to credit here. My coil is flat/level and centered perfectly below the bowl at just the perfect height to avoid combustion which required bending and playing with the coil many times to figure out the sweet spot.

The short purpleheart wood stem EdsTNT made me has become stuck in a microbubbler I purchased for about $5 on fasttech. So now I have the perfect glass piece to mate to the ESV. This makes me want the ESV at night over the Daisy, can you believe that? Well see for yourself below and perhaps you will get why!

Yep that sounds like Joe! Wow, that's funny you just posted this cause I just completely ran the battery down myself. Not even the lowest red bar showing on the app! I've run it down to the red before but never seen this before. I had to leave it charging on the computer for overnight and into the next afternoon, but it did come back, the light went green. Now I don't know if I blew it by leaving it plugged in for an hour or so after that. Cause I suddenly saw on the app that the charge seemed to drop by 15% and kept dropping as i watched the screen. I haven't tried to reset it. Should I? Maybe I need to call Joe again.

No, it's not a problem if you had it still plugged for an hour when it was already green.
My app bars are not that reliable.. they tend to move or go back and forth a notch. Joe told me there's a small tolerance of around 15% (IIRC!) - but that should not be an issue: when it's green, its fully loaded. No matter what the app shows.
Were the lights still green when you saw the bars decreasing?
If it went to red instead, I would worry about it.. otherwise I wouldn't
