[QUOTE="con2010, post: 914319, member: 6946" Counterfeit link removed buy as clone 69.[/QUOTE]

Bad advice, IMO. I bought such a unit to check out and found it seriously wanting. There are a couple of posts about it in this thread and on the Counterfeit Forum.

Genuine units with excellent warranty are available for (IMO) reasonable prices, this is false economy. Randy will price match legitimate offers and offer service/support that's basically unmatched in the trade.

I cannot recommend counterfeit Airs, in fact I specifically recommend against it.

@con2010 We encourage folks to buy an authentic unit. The fakes could cause a fire and you have no warranty. Chances are it probably won't last very long. One day it will stop working and you are out the money that you spent. Not really a savings if you need a sturdy unit for day to day use.

Always make sure you are getting the real deal. Arizer makes excellent products don't settle for anything less.

I've had my AA for 14 months and haven't had any issues.

Hi Folks,

new here. Read through about 1/3 of the thread so far.

My question: how many watts does the Arizer Air really draw? The only number I saw here was OF's measurement of 10.7 watts. That's... really lame people.

I've got a single-battery ecig here that pulls 75 watts maxed-out. If Arizer really designed the Air with a 10 watt max draw, that means you're waiting more than 7 times longer for that stem to heat up than you would need to if they used modern electronics.

What do you think? Are you happy waiting 1-2 minutes instead of 8-17 seconds before you can use your unit? Should we write Arizer demanding a more powerful device?

Not to confuse peak with average. Solo runs around 16 Watts cold, progressively less as it heats down to something like like 14 when on. Duty cycle further reduces the average. Air would be basically the same at half the voltage and twice the current.

From an engineering POV you don't really want to put a 500 HP engine in a Lexus. Closed loop fast heat up times are a trade off, like everything else it seems. Stability, reliability and critical in our case, overshoot, can suffer by racing the clock. There are real limits imposed by Thermodynamics on just how fast you can 'ramp up' temperatures, in our case the glass presents just such a challenge. There are, of course, marketing pressures driving in this direction, they are being countered in the deliberation. It's a competitive market, generally, if going faster was a grand plan, the competition would be doing so and forcing Arizer to 'fish or cut bait'.

I tend to think 'demand' is kind of overused, everyone wants to make demands yet few are happy to have others tell them what to do? I'm sure not about to demand anything from Arizer, I'm very happy with the devices they've produced without my help......and hope they make more. I do support, however, making that suggestion to them should you feel like it, but personally I'm confident they've thought it through already. And no doubt tested some.

@OF I really repect your POV however I have one as well!

Fer sure. You not only have a POV to offer, but it's often well worth attention.

One thing I think I feel safe in saying about your contributions is 'if you weren't doing it, it wouldn't get done'. We have no backup/substitute for you and your insights. And glass breaking skills.

And enthusiasm, not to forget that.

You da man. Keep the posts coming, please.

@OF Your the one who created a monster in me!

When I had frustration in dealing with carts you led me down the right path!

I got into flowers and found the SOLO to fill my needs.
The AIR I would buy if I was younger.
In my garden the SOLO is a strong work horse.
I only vaporize at home.

The GIZMO you made for my SOLO is going to make it last pass my death!

Thank you for helping me along the path!

Hey,

I posted this already at reddit a while ago, but I thought you guys could also help me with my question(s).

I have two questions regarding my new Arizer Air.
  1. I didn't fully charge the battery before first use, instead I just let it run a cycle on the hottest setting as stated in the manual and then charged it. I somewhere read that you must charge it fully before first use, thats why I'm asking.
  2. Can I leave the stems inside the Air when I'm done with a session, or do I have to remove it everytime?

I read that it's bad for the rubber gasket to leave the stems inside. Also, is it bad to insert/remove the stems when the device is still cold?

Thanks!

One big reason to go with 2.7A/10.7watts is safety. Uninformed stoners with a 70watt Air might put in a cheap 18650 and set themselves on fire.

(EDIT) but with a sealed unit like the Solo, i think we'll see much more powerful portables in the near future.

@HailSolo When the unit is warm the stems insert easier and you can remove them easier too. If the stem is too tight to remove wait until the unit is heated up. The stems fit tighter than the Solo's.

The rubber gasket under the oven area is easy to lose, if that's what you are talking about. @OF lost his and made another out of rubber tubing that was heat safe. I don't see anywhere that you can buy that piece.

The rubber piece that's hanging on the top is a cover to the oven. Some folks have removed theirs I still have mine. I use mine when carrying it around in my purse. I use the cover for my Solo too.

I think low and slow is the best method for consistant and reliable temperatures for vaporizing herbs. yes you can use high wattages with e liquid, but 70W is a lot of heat in a very short amount of time. it would be much more difficult to maintain a stable temperature and not risk stressing the material as OF stated. plus i think it would risk flash vaporizing a lot of the lower temp cannabinoids. just my opinion

My Arizer Air stopped turning on.

It shut down in the middle of a session, showed (I think) a yellow light on the bottom LED, and hasn't been able to turn on since.

When I plug it into the charger it charges normally but when I hold the buttons to turn it on absolutely nothing happens. No lights, no beep, nothing.

you probdrained the battery all the way from your sessions, let it charge all the way until its full again, it probably doesnt even have the power to turn on if it was drained like that

Already let it charge. Tried again when it was fully charged and still nothing.

Very hard to troubleshoot from the distance with no tools on the other end. A known good battery (or using that one in a flashlight or something like that) seems a logical next step. There's also a reset procedure I think, search the thread on 'reset'? Such a feature exists on Solo I know and has recovered some units from similar fate, I think for Air as well?

FWIW removing the battery might get it to reboot around the problem? Like with your computer, some information is stored in memory for the next use, but the processor stops when the power is off.

Otherwise it might be time to send it to the shop, hopefully you got it from PV, PIU or some other dealer with proven history of good support? If it's Randy at PIU you're 'in luck' here I think, none finer.

I tried the battery in a flashlight and it works. I also tried leaving the unit without the battery overnight and it still wont turn on. It's weird because it charges just fine.

I was able to get it to turn on once by pure chance. I randomly clicking/holding the buttons and it happened to turn on. It heated up and I was able to get a full session out of it but I couldn't raise it past the lowest setting.

I haven't been able to find anyone with a similar issue with the Air or even the Solo.

There have been very few faulty units with the Air here on FC. It looks like you need to get a hold of the company that you bought it from so you can send it back. A real bummer I'm sure. Did you try the reset procedure that OF suggested? I can't remember how, but do a search.

Best of luck.

Reset procedure...

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-arizer-air.16415/page-154#post-753744

I was having issues with my Air cutting off and was instructed to do a manual reset.

This seems to have solved my problems as i havent had any issues since and have used it a truck load since, but im not sure if it will help you or not, and im not sure if its something we should be doing for any/every problem.... But ill let you decide if you wanna try it... here is the message as i received it. (from Aroma-tek)

"Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and we're sorry to hear that. You may be able to manually reset your Air. Please try the following:

Plug the charger into the wall outlet
Plug the charger into the Air unit
press and hold both buttons for approximately 4 seconds
wait for 10 seconds then unplug from charger

If this doesn't resolve the problem and it's consistently doing this we can provide our return instructions so we can test out the unit."

Hope this helps.

It has been working fine for about a year. I still have a year of warranty so I might just send it in once I hear back from Arizer.

I'll try the procedure now, thanks!

Thanks!

Agreed, but there have been a few weird problems of this sort, at least some of which were fixed by resets (not sure if it's only Solo or if Air is in there?). IMO it's still worth looking into that before packing it up for the long ride to the shop. I hope the OP has a backup vape.......if not I'm sure he's thinking about it.....

"Reset" shows up over 50 times in this thread alone. It's not true to say 'nobody has reported this':

The post just after that spells out the reset procedure. It has worked in other cases:

I've tried resetting using that same post last night. I did a search and found a bunch of posts about the reset and it still doesn't work for me.

From what I've read, nobody has reported the same problem. There are issues of units not charging or not heating up but I haven't found an issue similar to mine (charging works, battery works, heater works, but unit wont turn on)

I'm definitely thinking of getting a backup. I had to smoke a joint last night and my lungs are paying the price today :(

How about the post I linked to above?

anyone had issue with dead unit. not even a week old, maybe about 3-4hrs vape time. was 2nd session into battery, went to switch on and nothing. swapped battery for new one and same. got home, plugged in charger and still nothing. any advice b4 i contact arizer. am UK, so want sending it back to be last resort

Sounds mighty similar to me. Reset didn't work for him either it seems. You might even PM him to ask how it turned out?

IMO every vape owner should have a backup, if only to keep the ghost of strange problems at bay. A guy needs a better fall back plan than Zig-Zags. Just ask Ataxian. It should be something different and fun to use in it's own right. And with a solid reputation. Solo seems too much like Air, but perhaps a nice VG? Or a personal favorite VapMan. The FMs are also worth looking into I think, especially the Mini if stealth is important? The FMs can also do concentrates with the Pods. I just got, and am really enjoying, the new Aura. All are under $100.

Smoking, even once, is a potentially a bad idea since it can reset your old 'blazing=getting stoned' mental link and may take a while to get over. The mind can be a powerful, if strange sometimes, thing.

Good luck with it.
