The Dr Dabber Pen

@MoneyVapeTheWorldGoRound are you finding you can get fairly large hits without to much harshness?
How about flavor..is it smooth and tasty or does it get that yucky burnt taste that you get from other devices? Thanks..

The hits are harsh and yucky but that can most likely be attributed to the reclaim hash oil I am using. I will probably need to get back with you once I get my hands on some top shelf product

@Chill Dude instead of quoting your whole post.

I have previously purchased things from them (Dr. Dabber) and I really like their CS and all there products have a good warranty so I don't mind paying a little extra for the benefits.

I had also bought mine from them because over the Black Friday sale along with a coupon code I got it pretty cheap compared to what they normally sell it for. (did the same thing with the honey rig I bought from them got it cheap).

I've owned the Light and Ghost pens (Ghost came with Honey Rig), Honey Rig, and now the Boost... They recently stated they would get new tops in (the whole top part that the nail goes onto) and the updated ceramic part replaces the black plastic base that is around the nail some people have melting issues not the carb cap and the nail supposedly screws on instead of being a pressure fit.

I enjoy concentrates but never really liked the whole process of intake dealing with torches etc... to sketchy for me so I started off on pens and what not and why not a e-nail you may ask?

I don't want cords hanging around every where I don't own or want any bigger rigs now or in the near future (living situation) so more stealthy methods have been my go to... Before purchasing this I mainly used my W9Tech Hercules SR-74x (which is still my go to method as I can take it with me where ever it can hold a load and I can just forget about it) but with this product it allows me to take a traditional like "dab" without all the equipment and hassle of the torch+nail combo which is nice if I want an instant effect of my material.

Some more quick thoughts;
I really enjoy it as I stated it's good for me because it enables me to take a more traditional like dab where as with my pens it is a more casual slow approach based on my hits and I have to say I am quite impressed with it's performance seeing as it's only running on a single 18650 battery things like this can now only be improved upon so I can't to see what may be in store!

I love it for my current situation I would buy one if I had the extra money on hand IMO there really isn't anything else around like it and I would purchase the unit from Dr. Dabber besides any of the other places selling units like this based on their customer service alone and support for their products + they have all had premium packaging and looks and helped my decision as well.

Mostly taken from my post on this reddit thread,

As for cleaning they have a video on that which isn't simple basically like any piece or whatever you may use an ISO wash is all that is needed.

@Fkn0wned Thanks for the reply and links..Do you feel that all the materials close to the heat source are safe for the temperatures used. The melting black plastic has me a little concerned. Also the nail itself should be high grade titanium right? I know there's different grades of titanium.. I don't know much about it.. Is the nail high grade titanium?

Also how does the Honey Rig paired with your Hercules perform? Is the hit smoother and can you take a larger dab with less harshness than the Herc w/o water filtration? I'd like to pair the Ghost with the Honey Rig. Do you think I could take big rips without too much harshness with that setup? The problem I have with most pens is that they are fairly harsh when not paired with water if you like big rips..

@Chill Dude If you order the Honey Rig from the website that is what it comes with the rig itself then an attachment adapter for the Ghost which is also included, any way you use water filtration whether it be the Ghost/Herc whatever pen out there will make the hit smoother and less harsh, the Honey Rig is perfect for me in my current living situation it isn't to big still looks like a nice heady piece and gives me water filtration.

As with being concerned about the materials used in the Boost that is why I had mentioned emailing @Dr.Dabber because they have a newer model out that has a ceramic base instead of that plastic the first model has; so if you were to order a Boost now I am guessing they would send you the fixed/new unit... as for the quality of the nail I couldn't tell you they say it is a high grade Ti nail it is thin so it doesn't retain heat for a long period of time so you have to be quick with your hits and I am pretty sure the melting was the result of back to back to back hits as they recommend not going over 3 consecutive times.

Here are some pictures,

And this is how I have it currently set up with my Herc for now I have this ordered (http://delta3dstudios.com/nearly-universal-vape-to-waterpipe-adapter-medium/) to clean everything up and be able to use it with a different adapter I hold the actual rig in my hand while using looks complicated but it is rather simple.

@Fkn0wned thanks for the coke can size comparison. Wow the Honey Rig is really small which is a good thing as I like you seek to keep things on the down low without all that mess of equipment and long coils associated with a traditional E Nail.

That Honey Rig is a sweet piece. So if I bought the Honey Rig with the Ghost pen it comes with an adapter right? So I wouldn't need The Delta 3D adapter unless I wanted to pair with other devices. Is that right?

It looks like the Honey Rig comes with a glass nail. How does that compare to a titanium nail? It probably won't retain heat as long as titanium is my guess. I'm surprised they don't use the standard coil atomizers that come stock with the ghost. I'm confused then is this a dab rig where you use a dab tool like the Boost and drop a dab into the glass nail or do you use the wick atomizers and pulse the button on the Ghost?

Ah yes I forgot about that as well the Honey Rig comes with a quartz nail and dome I haven't used those as I don't like the Torch method and I kind of thought the nail/heat would be to close to your face when you would take a hit, I'd recommend finding a drop down for the Rig if you want to use it with a nail.

So I never used the nail, probably only once I'd recommend either a Ti or Ceramic nail if you go quartz for flavor then a banger is a nice option over a nail/dome but yes Ti retains heat the longest out of all the nails AFAIK.

But yes the size is perfect for me I usually just palm the rig in my right hand then hold my Evic VTC mini in my left and pulse my button for the Hercules and I can milk the rig easy and then I just slide off the elbow adapter to clear it... smaller pieces are more efficient I have read when it comes to concentrates anyways because there is very little travel time between vapor and lungs.

Included:

1 Dr. Dabber Honeyrig
1 Glass Ghost Adapter
1 Glass HoneyDome
1 Glass Nail
1 Dr. Dabber Ghost Battery
1 Dr. Dabber Glass Attachment/Atomizer

^ All of that is included in the purchase of a Honey Rig, It includes everything (except concentrate lol) needed to get ready and go whether you use traditional torch and nail or the included Ghost with adapter, but now it has served me way more purpose than using it with just the included pieces as I can use it as a water piece for any of my devices + it looks really nice.

And I got that Delta 3d adapter to use with my Hercules so I can use it with the adapter the Honey Rig came with instead of using the baby bottle nipple and the upside down elbow/claim collector piece it should easily slide in to where the Ghost does I am hoping... shipping says it should be here tomorrow so I can get pictures up possibly!

I can also take any pictures if you had any request to see anything.

This,
http://www.bakebros.com/14mm-domeset-reclaim-female-joint-glass-joint-90/ Is the adapter I got to try and use instead of a drop down with a nail but I never got around to purchases a nail I was going to get a HE flux nail for it... that never happened and now I doubt it will as I have the Boost for regular dab hits now.

Okay, I see..they only include the glass nail for those that want to go the torch route. I simply want to attach the Honey Rig to the ghost so no need for the glass nail or dome. I'm not very experienced with rigs only vape pens...

Well yeah then you should be good to go, I just have my nail and dome sitting somewhere haha I don't even own a torch so it is just put up but yeah the Ghost is included but only one atomizer for the Ghost is with the kit so I would order extra if the Ghost is going to be your only method of use for the time being.

And like in my picture when it is set up with the Ghost everything sits on the table evenly they did a good job with the adapter and fitting it with the pen really well and holding it feels nice with the Ghost pen as well with your finger on the carb hole on the adapter + with the Ghost pen you can get some nice milky hits as well.

I would say it is a nice starter kit to purchase for a water piece, it's a nice looking mini rig that functions well and can be universal as it is just a 14mm joint used which is one of the standards.

You can't really go wrong with the Honey Rig imo it is a little pricey but don't forget to use the "BUYFC" discount code at checkout to get a good discount!

Like here is another company who put out a "Boost" like unit but they are making an adapter one could purchase to use on a water piece which if this goes on sale I will purchase it to use my Boost with my Honey Rig.

@Fkn0wned I never even thought of the possibility of pairing the Honey Rig with the Boost. That would be a cool setup! In what way would hooking up the Boost to the Honey rig be better than the glass that comes stock with the Boost? Smoother and bigger hits or just to use the Honey Rig with all of your devices? I might buy both the Boost and the Honey Rig/Ghost set up with an extra titanium nail and a couple extra ceramic atomizers for the Ghost. They seem different enough to justify a dual purchase if I want to drop that kind of cash.. If I did it would probably be wise to contact The Doctor directly for an appropriate discount for such a large purchase.. Thanks for spending some time to help me.. Very cool!

Just add some things to your cart and like I said put the code "BUYFC" in and see what your final price would be, that code takes off a decent chunk.

And I am guessing pairing the Boost with a different water piece would allow for bigger hits or smoother based on what type of percolation going on or whatever but I just think it would be neat to have all my pieces universal.

But yes it'd be nice to be able to use my Honey Rig with everything and my Boost with my Honey Rig it just justifies my purchase that much more when I can and when I actually want to continue using and investing in my pieces I currently own instead of seeking something new.

Also keep in mind the Boost comes with an extra Ti nail in the nice case it comes in... the Boost comes in a REALLY nice kit actually.

I hear they are going to release a Ceramic nail replacement for the Boost here soon and they have some glass blowers working on a custom water piece for it as well, I am wondering if they are going to release an adapter piece to be able to use it with the Honey Rig... please @Dr.Dabber consider this!

Yeah, def going to use the code to see whet type of discount I can get..

Options such as a ceramic or Quartz nail would be great.. I wonder if the temp reached from the Boost's 30 second heat up would work well for all nail types. I'm sure the Doctor will be able to test the functionality of all alternative nail options and their heat retention properties best for the Boost.. More water piece options with proper adapters would be a plus as well! Personally, I like one stop shopping without trying to find appropriate adapters from other vendors..

I think The Doctor has found a marketing niche with the release of The Boost. As you said a lot of people don't like the danger and the sketch factor of a traditional oil rig/torch set up. I have kids in the house and I can't be running around the house with a torch haha..and all of those E Nails coming out are too big a bulky in my view. They have a big control panels, long coils and too many small parts. And have to be plugged in. The Boost keeps things simple and should appeal to the mass market of concentrate users..I can't wait to get my unit!!

The Aura is now available! All magnetic components, 3 deep dish atomizers (1 dual quartz, 1 dual ceramic, 1 ceramic halo) All encased in a quartz dish. The pen also has 3 heat settings and the same no questions asked warranty on the battery and charger as our Ghost and Light!

One of my bigger grippe about LayG wax pens was this f**threaded mp I must to unscrew for reload and screw back, so I will enjoy this sort of improvement to help us for an easier reload on the go!

Magnetic attachments, 3 differents attys and a nice looking body...this is a pen I could buy...although I'm actually not for a wax pen search.

Great job Doc!

Do you have pics of the new atomizers for that?
Vape critic took some. Deep dishes, all Quartz walls on all 3. Curious if airflow vents are high on those deep walls, or if the atomizers stupidly have holes beneath the halo/coils, which will inefficiently sink reclaim down into battery land.

Only thing missing from the aura, seems to be a cap on the atomizer to prevent leaks like the yocan evolve.

Super excited to talk a friend into buying this Aura so I can try the coil-free halo on the aura's lowest heat setting.

I'd like to see a side by side review between the Kandy Galaxy/Donuts and the Aura. They seem like similar pens in many ways. I like the stealthiness of the Aura due to a neutral non attention attracting color. The Kandy Pens are more for the bling seekers with the bright fluorescent colors and shiny gold mouth pieces. The Galaxy's dual Quartz rod atomizers get rave reviews, but the Aura's seems to be basically the same. Moreover, the Aura comes with three different atomizers: quartz dual, ceramic dual and the ceramic Halo..but isn't that too many choices? I've heard the dual Quartz offers the best taste and produces large clouds of vapor.. @Dr.Dabber what are the pros and cons of each atomizer? Which one is the best for high end shatter? Which one has the best flavor with no burnt taste? Which one produces the largest amount of vapor? Etc..

Is the Aura's mouthpiece plastic?

Both the Aura and Galaxy have 3 heat settings, but the Aura has the no thread magnetic feature that I've never seen on any other pen. I think that is a major plus:tup:. I think Kandy has a lifetime warranty on the battery while Aura has only a one year.. I think?

The Aura is definitely a big improvement over the Ghost. Nice pen Doctor!

It's been said that Aura's three heat settings produce slightly less visible vapor/combustion and slightly more pure/raw flavor than the corresponding three heat settings of the KandyPens donuts/Galaxy , so aura seems perfect for low temp/less-combustion types.
(I am firmly in that camp)

Also, the dual ceramic rods are best for thin oils, the dual Quartz rods best for thicker oils, and the halo/donut is best for waxy/firmer concentrates.

Im most excited for the Quartz-walled halo, as this type is likely the most efficient with wax/shatter, since reclaim won't stick to the deep dish Quartz walls when it bubbles/splatters, it'll slide right down back to the halo/donut, which has no exposed coil, and bubbles wax slowly and vaporizes it more than combusts it.

I have the Yocan Evolve, I don't see the cap as a plus. It traps the heat in the attomizer that already gets a little too hot. That makes your concentrate puddle real quick on the floor of the atty. I noticed immediately how little vapor it was producing for the concentrate applied. They get an A+ for effort, but their atty needs variable power and titanium. I thought the specs on the Yocan were going to blow everything away, not even. Currently, I have the Dr. Dabber Ghost & Light, Yocan Evolve, and Puffco. I am the odd ball and think the Dr. Dabber Light is the best, but I only get about 2 1/2 hits out of the atty, which most folks might find a pain in the ass to reload. All good, I like the taste of the Dr. Dabber Light the best.

The Mouthpiece is ceramic.
-The ceramic rods are going to be the hardest hitting for those who are willing to sacrifice some flavor for massive hits.
-The quartz rods are going to be the most balanced hit, a perfect mix of flavor and hit size.
-The ceramic halo is going to be the lowest heat and best tasting, minimal visible vapor produced but very efficient.

yeah, of course I'm not saying the whole pen is good, they use nichrome coils, no temperature control, and the bottom is rounded so it won't stand up. Glue and solder likely all in it.

I just thought that having a cap to keep thinner viscosity oils from seeping out when we are out being active was a good idea. Others have screens or other methods to prevent splatter onto our lips, but I was more concerned about the pen flipping around in my pocket when running or biking and that causing it to leak out of even a deep dish atomizer.

Thank for the information on the three atomizers. It seems like each one has its place depending on user desires. Variety is always good! I just have a couple more questions:

1) these are deep dish atomizers. My tolerance is such that a.1g of prime oil gets me pretty lifted. Do the atomizers work with a small amount like .05 to .1 or do you need to place a larger amount.. .3g?

2) if you load .3g could you hit it 3 or 4 sessions over 2 days, or is it designed to finish in one session? I guess I'm worried about leaking oil when set on its side in the storage case or perhaps degradation of flavor. I would think the oil would harden up and not cause any problems when stored. Is one atomizer better than others to use as I've described or will they all work just as well?
For me It would be nice to load a large amount and hit it over a day or two.

@AVENTUS so I'm not the only one concerned about the potential for leakage Lol...I've never used the deep dish atomizers so I'm used to loading a small amount in the regular atomizers and finishing it all at once. I too wonder if caps are needed..

Dr. Dabber recently got in new tops for their version of the H-Enail it has a ceramic base instead of plastic or whatever material the original was and the nail is screw on instead of a pressure fit because of the complaints of melting around the heating element/nail.

Reason I emailed @Dr.Dabber my new top they sent me has incorrect threading and doesn't seat completely on the original bottom part.

I had the connection working sometimes but I have to get it tight and I am worried of getting it stuck on, so please @Dr.Dabber get back to my email about this issue!

*Edit

The new top doesn't seem to get as hot as the first one (It could be because my threads don't go down all the way/incomplete connection waiting on @Dr.Dabber to respond) and although the ceramic base gets way hotter than the first one it seems my material just puddles up instead of vaporizing.

It could also be that because the nail screws it looks like to me the heating element doesn't go as fair in the shaft as the pressure fit nail... Here's hoping it is just a faulty connection with my old bottom piece and the new top!

It looks like an improvement from the first and I love the ceramic base/screw on nail aspect makes it easier to swap out possibly for that ceramic one!!!!... but it just isn't functioning like I think it should at the moment.
