A very noble task making an unbreakable steel Solo stem @ataxian I think it's a great idea. I'm surprised that Arizer doesn't try making some sort of unbreakable mouthpiece. The stems are so fragile and made with such thin glass. The Nano stems are thicker. They don't break every time you drop them unlike my Solo stems. 
It's really my only complaint.
I like the all glass air path. What about unbreakable glass.

tl;dr: Solo beats the pants off volcano, plenty and davinci in terms of THC/CBD extraction efficiencies in an objective mechanically ventilated test.

Interesting quote from that journal article:"Best recoveries were obtained for the Arizer Solo® with 70.0–82.7%. The better the recovery the less drug (cannabis or cannabinoids) is needed to deliver a defined therapeutic dose to a patient. This is an economic issue in terms of cost-effectiveness of the therapy with medicinal cannabis."
So all our anecdotal evidence here on the forum has been validated.

Sorta. I've been thinking about this for a while off and on. Yes, it does back up at least some of the anecdotal evidence/experience it comes way short of the total picture I think. We also very much agree that 'conversion to vaping cuts your weed consumption to 1/3 or even 1/4 of smoking', yet this study fails to show that? A much more modest improvement there......
I think there's a flaw in their science. They claim "deliver a defined therapeutic dose to a patient" but have no actual blood level tests to prove that assumption. They make the assumption that if it's captured in the methanol that tells how much is effectively delivered........ Bad science.
I think the missing factor is particle size. It's been proven in other research that there's an 'ideal size range'. Too small (micron or smaller IIRC) and it passes in and out again without absorption. Too large, many microns IIRC, and it never makes it to your lungs (but would still be captured and counted in the above study).

I have session's all day long and my glass is clean.
Just because somebody has dirty paraphernalia does not mean they vape like a chimney!
Were all different in regards to clean?
I don't like any yellow in my garden?
So I must be a green freak?
Speaking of green it's time to activate the SOLO and have some CALIFORNIA FARMS OG before I clean all my glass.

Notwithstanding the validity of some of the parameters of the study, the Solo compared very favorably with the other vapes.
An interesting side note was found in this quote:
"Additional 9.8%– 13.6% of THCtot and CBDtot were adsorbed onto the glass tube and the sample chamber of the device, resulting in an overall recovery of 79.0–98.1%. The sum of the cannabinoids found in the various fractions was highest for THC vaporized from cannabis and reached 88.9% in CBD-type and 98.1% in THC-type cannabis. The relatively simple design of the device consisting of smooth surfaces and inert materials such as metal and glass may be responsible for the high yield."
Studies like these are not meant to answer all the questions at once. Many make some rather obtuse assumptions. But they do put another piece of the puzzle in its' place.
Is it any wonder that a Solo stem in hot chocolate works so well?

Enjoying that pure oil from the Solo wand this evening. Got it out with a small knitting needle. Goes nicely into a Kiss Cartridge on the Persei for an unbelievable dreamy experience. Easiest way to get good quality oil. As a by-product it is basically free.

I don't take T-BREAK's and find them to be counter productive.
I told my kids about my Medication with CANNABIS after I told my wife.
My family in general think I'm straight as a arrow.
Like you I assume I have not yet came out of the closet on this issue.
My MOM thinks CANNABIS is a slippery slope?
I only have found good about CANNABIS.
This morning for WAKE & VAKE I pulled out my first bubbler.
I was having trouble using the stock GonG's I have.
By reducing the volume demand I made them work fine.
TKO = TORO Knock Off + STOCK GonG Level 4 in my case.
Medicated and Dedicated
SOLO all day!
Everyday (no T-Breaks)
D020 with a 18mm PHVES is my next setup with the SOLO.
My SOLO is old however still works well?

Your assumptions are nearly correct. I have no family left on my side, plenty of em on the wife's side. All the older ones very anti drug (and by older i mean younger than me). The laws here are very strict, cannabis is looked at the same as heroin etc. Still brought my Air with me just in case (The Solo was left behind because of its size)
Religion ppffffft.
Anyway had a good session when i got home.

Well 30+ years later we're still here. We're all getting a little older is all. Maybe a little slower. Using the medicine that works for us.
Lounging on the couch with my Solo and some BlueMagoo strain. I picked it up at the medical cannabis farmers market on Saturday. Using my Vortex stem and I'm able to use temp 6 at the end of my session.
Watching the local news. It didn't rain today and it won't rain tomorrow. But it will be back, so tired of the rain. Glad we're not experiencing what's going on, on the East Coast. Hang in there friends.

I use a SOLO all day because I don't vaporize outside of my home.
The SOLO makes me read fast so I love it!
Sure I can buy more expensive portable vaporizers however basic it might be I love the thing!

Tomorrow time to go CANNABIS shopping for more strains.

If I'm out for too long a wax pen full of shatter easier to maintain stealth.
Outside I use a SOLO.
Indoors a plug-in!
If you ever vaporized with me you would loose all you neurological functions!
For I love the SOLO because it works well and it's simple!

My dispensary has a frequent buyer plan for their medical clients who have them as their "center of choice" in which I get points (1 pt for every $10 spent) that be accumulated and applied to a future purpose. I saved up my points and got myself a free oz. of "bomb" shelf herb as a Christmas present. THAT is something I never thought would happen, back in the day.

I was watching review's today looking to buy another portable.
How disappointing!
Some reviews were truthful.
However most were lame.
I got 10 hits of flavor my last SOLO session.
Most portables after the 2nd rip the flavor is like burnt popcorn?
$120 for a SOLO
$269 for a 2 hit wonder?
