thanks for the reply! im trying to trade my firewood 3 currently for either a vapman, or money to buy a vapman! it is such a unique and interesting vape im just really drawn to it lately

im kind of torn on the firewood, I like it alot, but I have a nano for home and and air as well and the air is easier to get a fulfilling session out of. the firewood is not living up to my expectations

TBH, I dont know! I just really like the concept of it, And I think it would be good to take on the go for when I hang out with friends and I dont want to risk braking anything like a glass air stem, or the electronics in the unit if my friends drop/misuse it. Its a very nicely designed, very small, and aesthetically pleasing vaporizer

I own both an Air and a Vapman, I'd say that once you get the right technique with your torch the Vapman can be more efficient but there still is the risk of combusting. Paired with the Station it outperforms the Air in every aspect. Only case I would recommend the Air over the Vapman is if you want (or need) to vape at low temperatures and do not want to buy the Station because I find difficult to achieve this with the torch. If you vape through water Vapman is also better.

Yes it is good for all of those things. Tbh, I share the vapman less than other vapes...I'm getting a little better since I have been using it as my daily driver, but still...the small size and build quality almost unconsciously promotes pampering of the unit.
The thing that might annoy you with your friends using it is their ability to scortch your wood when uneducated about the device. (Therefore I never let alone else torch it.)
I exclusively owned electronic vapes until the lily and the vapman, I'll tell you this...flame powered vapes are their own separate beast. Definitely a lot of power...less brakes, if you catch my drift.
Alot of folks praise the station.
If I had the money, I would most certainly buy one to try out, but I dont.
Therefore I have almost mastered my flame application technique. And let tell you, there is a ton of control. I can make a load last 10 hits or 1.
The lower the temp desired, the shorter my bursts of flame to the bottom of the pan.
The thing I personally like the most about the vapman is the ceremonial feeling I get when using it.
You get it out with your torch and have an intimate personal experience where you play with the flame sizes for different effects.
The small pan allows you to refine your technique without blowing through a lot of material. When your technique is mastered you get surprised at how much one pan can medicate you.
I love my electronic portables don't get me wrong...but they just have a robotic lifeless feel when in use.

^ awesome, thanks so much for the reply. I like my air because I use it one cycle at green and one at red (410F) to get the higher temps for pain, but I would like something that could go even higher, as pain is the reason I vape, not that I dont like the heady effects as well 
Had a heap of mates try it over the weekend and everyone loved it, some were even lining up for it instead of smoking mixed green. However my wobbly bowl is now super rattled! Still functions fine, but noobies aren't allowed near it any longer! Might buy a WONG for my next one, as since the 14mm connection is not great, you kind of have to "snap" it out, which is perfectly fine if you do it from the base!.... Idiots doing it from the top is not not not gooood! But we live and learn and on the grand scheme she's pretty inexpensive (still next party the coil is coming! Can do what they please with that!) and its copped absolute abuse, and still working perfectly fine!
Ordered two defect units today, had to make a paypal account, and then verify an account and wait for funds to clear, been drawn out but rene and the team have shown great patience with my slow joining of the 21century!
50/50 chance my mate who only on NYE thought that vaping was inferior in every way to combusting a tobaco and MJ bong may be buying one of the new units. Pending funds not want.

I think I WILL be buying this but im going to hold off for another month or so before I do, That way with all the $ I save by vaping instead of smoking, I can justify the purchase

What model did you get? Let us know if you have any questions! The VM has my heart right now. Not sure if it's cold where your at but I do enjoy vaping with it in the cold air. ..it makes the hits retrain flavor for longer. You have to hold it a second or two longer per blast to compensate temperature, but it's a nice switch up.

Just had two mini jet lighters taken at domestic airport screening, apparently you aren't allowed, but I have never had a problem before just putting them through the scanner like you would a bic. Lucky the vapcap works with a bic until I can get one for the vapman!

Our supplier just told us, that the mica washers will arrive next week (January 26th) already!
This afternoon I will post a picture of my vapman with the mica washer and I will do a test about reusing the washer after cleaning. I am very excited about that small washer, it will make a huge difference on the lifespan of the middle section for very little money!
The magic goes on!

fantastic !On page 206 I did a post about worn down middle sections and means to extend their usage.
The problem with worn down middle sections is the lowering of the spring action on the locking system.
Yesterday, I received some mica washers I specially ordered for that task.
Here they are, one is already placed in the filter, just the right size to keep the holes free.
This is the patient, a worn middle section with an uneven rim which is not sealing anymore.
It needs sanding down in order to get it flat again.
After a few strokes on a piece of sanding paper it looks like this. I only sanded as much it needed to get a good spring action together with the mica washer, which is a spacer at the same time.
It works really well and may be, that middle section will last for ever because it is sitting on the heat insulating mica washer, it is a win, win construction. Soon I will see how the cleaning goes and if it can be used several times. I think the residues and the heat will bond the mica even more and make it last for a long time.
The moral of the story is: I will be out of business soon because I am making things which last forever.
As no one responded to the last post about the mica washer, I am not sure if this is of any interest and if I should order such washers? I myself think that it is pretty cool.

I got the basic pear, however I disassembled it (save the tubes that are pressed in?) did a light sand and put a coat of BLO on it the day I got it. Will probably buff the middle ring with beeswax at a later date.
The ring section has got a nice natural darker color to it, almost looks like walnut. Was a pleasant surprise.
I love this thing. For a butane vape the temp control is surprisingly easy, 2 days in and I can finish a small pan in 2 hits or 4-5 tasty puffs. I've only managed to scorch once, everything since thens been copacetic. Very even AVB, stirring seems to be a non issue though I fear for the springs health! Checking out what's going on every puff must be hard on them.
I'll make a .gif or video through glass later, I'm getting some solid rips. This little guy was a very pleasant surprise.
My included lighters piezo goes through inexplicable bouts of not wanting to work sometimes, its very weird. However my package was handled and inspected by customs on both sides, maybe trying to ignite it empty of butane caused damage? At any rate I'll need some smaller torches, my others are a little large/bushy for the VM. Shame, I really like the easy piezo on the vapman torch.

To remove it, I placed the filter on the bowl, heated up the bowl for two seconds and could lift off the washer with the aid of a needle as shown on the picture below.
This inexpensive washer will be a great accessory for vapman, I am sure about that. We will carry the washer in our online shop, it will cost USD 3.--/6pcs. (50cents/washer)

@nondarb Trying to ignite an empty torch does not lead to any damage. On single orders I test each lighter by filling a tiny bit of gas in to the tank and igniting it a couple of times. I also check out if the volume valve is working, therefore I know that your lighter was working fine. Did you try to adjust the valve, this has to be done frequently sometimes as the pressure of the gas depends on temperature, atmospheric pressure and on the filling stand in the gas tank. Of course I empty the tank before shipping.

Seems like the plastic is flaking off my vm torch.
Has anyone else had this happen & do u think its dangerous. Works fine.
I might have dropped once or twice max.
But i noticed before hand.
The best pics I could get and there not showing it very well.
Guess could just be old age march will be a year.

While 'dry firing' shouldn't cause a problem past wearing it out a bit, the fact it was empty can be a problem. Air in the tank (until it's all purged out) can dilute the gas too much to burn. You can hear a hiss, but it won't strike. You should never let it run dead dry for that reason. More importantly, should it gulp some moist air into the tank a tiny drop of water can really foul it up. Best avoided.
A purge might in the end be necessary.
Assuming that's not a problem, the usual issue with fail to light is incorrect gas flow and/or weak spark. Carefully inspect the burner for fouling (like a piece of lint even) and watch the spark. It should be strong, bright, uniform (same each time) and always hitting the same spot (usually the tip of the burner). Also listen to the hammer, it should sound the same each time (sometimes the problem), all strikes that 'sound right' should produce the same spark, if now, find out why.
In used units, consider cleaning the soot out of the area (it's carbon and conducts.....) with a bit of cotton on the end of a toothpick (kind of a mini Q-tip) and some ISO.

I have not seen this on that lighter before but I have seen something similar on an other lighter and there it was solvents like methylated spirits causing this problem. Any chance it got in contact with some solvent?
