Since we are measuring the temperature inside the bowl, I wouldn't expect that temp to necessarily match the temp on the readout. The reason being that any temp sensor being used by the device is located on the outside of the heat chamber. The temperature in the middle of the bowl is getting blasted by thermal radiation from all sides, while a sensor outside the chamber has heat being applied from one side.

Well @Stu, of course, but it the designer job to measure, calibrate and find the correct compensation offset curve to have the sensor readings match the reality of what happens at the middle of the bowl. I love to summon @Hippie Dickie in those cases, because his design is fundamentally a digital portable vap2 with the exact same 100% all glass vapor path (did you face similar issues my good man? please share your comments)

From the few reports we had previously it gives the impression that you can get a very black load at certain set temperatures where it shouldn't happen on a digital vape with active temperature control, and *especially* when you guys claim it has a lot of conduction/radiant heat going on. ABV color is not necessarily tied to extraction level *BUT* it is definitely a visual marker of the temperature that the load was exposed to. You can see it clearly using a precise "conduction" vape like the Ascent which is able to output the entire color palette from green to dark brown (can't get it black tho) with perfect uniformity and without stirring.

Temperature control on mostly convection vapes is trickier as you can get pretty easily hotspots and it involves very complicated fluid mechanics analysis to really understand what your hot air flow is doing etc. But with a mostly radiant (@OF will disagree so let's say "conductive") heat like what you describe, it's pretty straight-forward to attain a state where your bowl temperature is always "at or below" your setpoint (vs often "at or above" your setpoint in some convection designs that overshoot)

It might really be just an impression but I think your units are running much hotter than what they display... No big deal, might just have to tame them down.

after reading the FC forum for a few years, it's a matter of designer's choice, for sure: i avoid the calibration issue entirely by not having a screen output ... i went for repeatable and consistent, not precise. temperature control turns out to be easy, much to my surprise.

[sidebar: i use a BBQ thermometer ($3) to show the hottest part of the glass oven - i think of this as the "fair witness", this is the real temperature. i know from inserting a second BBQ thermometer into the herb, that the inside temp = outside temp during the first 5 seconds of the draw - rising 50°F from the start of the draw. the heater temp sensor is on the hottest spot of the heater coil for fastest heater control, while the sensor on the glass shows a time-delay average temperature ... with decent herb, i rarely go above 395°F.]

I like my VAP3, but my h2.2 takes the cake for me - the signature is much more conducive to creativity and very cerebral whereas the VAP3 reminds me of a smoking high. Incredibly powerful, though - I bust it out when my buddies who smoke come over and they love it.

Hey folks some news from the most bitten it seems.

VAP3.0 keep the crown of the vapes in here.

I puff it like a cigar with a simple 14/18 adapter. Every 3 hits the stem is removed to produce a last thinning puff.

When the stem is not removed and the vapes become very heavy, the water percolation enters the scene.

Funny facts:
-i combusted at 202°C with a very long extraction of a big load.
-New 14mm straight stems are coming, some with a bigger bowls and some without dimples.
-i shaved the upper part to be a bit loser on the inner tube. Tolerance were a bit tight.

I've always been a huge fan of Vapolution since their first model. Best vape ever.

However, I had some really bad experiences with the concentrate bowl. Bought 10 of them, not even one satisfied. I couldn't get a clean hit of concentrate out of any of the bowls...

So I'm wondering, is it bad to just mix the concentrate with flower and use the regular herb bowls to vape?

ALSO just received the VAP3 hydro package in the mail today. Can't wait to try it after work.

Concentrate bowls give okay results, I've used the default flower bowl with just oil and noticed it definitely isn't as good as the conduction method they intend oils with. It does however work if you don't want to deal with the concentrate bowl. My biggest gripe is how dirty they get.

Right, I hate how dirty the concentrate bowls get too which is why I don't think I will be using just straight concentrates with Vapolution anymore. I will just sandwich the concentrate in between two pods of flower and vape it that way in a regular bowl.

Tried the vapo 3 hydro last night... wow.. totally cut through my tolerance and put me to sleep 4 hours early.

curious as to how users of the vapolution 3 are doing with it...Just got back from a trip to Colorado where I had to use my vapolution 2 as it was easier to travel with. When back home I realized the flavor I get with the 3 is unbeatable.

If I had one gripe it would be that the bud doesn't always stay in the tubes well. Being here in Norcal get spoiled as to always have fresh sticky bud which sticks in the tubes better. The Colorado commercial stuff isn't always fresh as what we get here in Norcal and falls out very easily. Sticky bud yes, dry bud bad

I run into the same issue myself. Need a better nug plug at the end, and I don't load it all the way, guess I'm a light weight, but I think when it is crammed full, it's too much to finish in one session, even between a friend and myself. I'm up in the air on taste, need to do a side by side and break out my 1 or 2 again for some "research".

In all honesty, I think 3 is smaller than the 2.0 in volume. I fully understand your NorCal dilemma all too well. Vermont's dispensary system is not so kind and I miss the access from Santa Cruz up into Humboldt.

Last time I wanted a smaller load in this thing, I got a short, stubby nug and crammed it up in there so it was tight, but didn't fill the whole stem. It stayed up in there for the whole session.

my unit shorted out today unexpectedly :-( the temp was kept at 190ish. sad.

Here some pictures promised of the custom stems i asked Vapolution LLC to design for my use.

You can see few things on the photos:

-A stock straight stem covered under its dimples of a dark ring of deposit which can be torched,
-The first two enano basket screens used with the first stem,
-A "no dimples" straight stem with enano basket screen,
-A 35mm dimples wide stock stem
-An heater sleeve broken at the height of the plastic upper ring which can stress the tube and this break is the systemic consequence of it. i had 3 same break like this so, this is no bad luck now.

I still use VAP3.0 exclusively at home. I downed my temperature to 171°C and it is cloud train and flavor city!

My VAP2 taste so amazing!

?Does the V3 taste as good?

The VAP2 is kind of the standard for flavor chasing!

It does, but the flavor doesn't last as long because the 3 gets going fast and gives a faster, more potent session with a bigger load.

Hey all, been sneaking around for a while. I've been loving my flowermate v5.0s but miss massive hits from a bubbler, so been looking into a desktop unit, and the vap2 or 3 is hitting the biggest requirements for me.

I am incredibly new to both smoking and vaping though, and the size comparisons/matching stuff is beyond me at this point. Attempted to read through a bunch here but still kind of lost. Does vapolution sell what you need to connect it to a rig or would I need some 3rd party adapters as well?

I am not a fan of the stand-up hydrotube you can get (I am a mazzive clutz) and want to lift the herb out without having to disassemble everything to do it. I saw the Cloud Evo with a little qhip converter, I guess I am looking for something like that?

Just enjoying my 2 and decided to peek around, the 3 sounds really nice. A little more looking reveals an ebay seller at $170, too. My experience with the Vapolution staff on a small warranty issue was nothing but positive and they never hassled me about the provenance of the device, so I wouldn't sweat getting it from the lowest seller available.

Well Volcano is like 2 or 3 times the price depending, is much better for groups but less satisfying IMO for a solo experience, with the Vapo providing much better flavor (all glass). They're quite different vapes. VapeExhale is absolutely wonderful but failure rates can be high, it has an exposed glass joint which is not easily replaceable if broken, and it again much more expensive. I became nervous sharing my Cloud with others, it is a nerve-wracking combination of expensive and delicate. I sadly cannot comment on Firefly.

Vapolution doesn't carry them directly afaik but you can find them easily, just search "waterpipe adapter" in any number of places such as Ebay, DH gate, ali express, or your local glass blower's order form. It's very easy to hook the vapolution to glass, you could even just jam the silicone tubing into/over the opening or glass joint if you didn't wish to wait, or drill a hole in a cork that fits it perfectly - most Italian wine corks fit perfectly into a 19mm female.
