Dear US Customs,

Get your dickbeaters off of my vapman, I know its a marvel of swiss engineering but I'd really like to have mine already...

Fuckers have had it 4 days, made the trip from Switzerland to US super quickly though!

If it is any consolation Italian customs held my Station for 26 days. If you need to send anything here from outside the EU in a reasonable time frame better use an express courier as our postal service is utter crap.

Hey folks,

I have the heating station and i love the device. The heating station have a perfect design and execution, a piece of art. i sadly made her a scar on the up side.

Thanks to her, i discovered the potential of the vapman in term of spreading your load. I had the torch very heay so vapman was kind of onehitter and was very effective on the concentrates.

Congrats for your work @vapman

None of my other stuff has had any issues with customs. They must be keen on the VM, it took barely over 24 hours to arrive to the US border from Switzerland so kudos to René!

that's really annoying. did you have to pay any customs fees? if yes, you probably came out with the same price as if you would have ordered from a vaporizer shop inside the EU. Rene gets your money anyway. :) one other thing a read somewhere is, that there seems to be a flourishing "duty free" mailorder business going on in towns near the border. small byuing agents buy goods in switzerland and shipp it from the other side of the border. saves import taxes and trouble with the customs. :) but on the other hand the prices in switzerland itself are usually high. so, i don't know if that makes sense. maybe on a case to case basis.

Yes I had to pay customs fees and import taxes but despite having to pay around 290€ for my Station I'm glad to have bought it directly from René himself. Unfortunately for future Vapman related purchase I'll have to try buying from someone else before. I was thinking about getting another midsection and sand it to make it sit deeper in my glass 18/14 reducer to cover the three holes when hitting through a bubbler.

my bad, didn't see it was about the station. i belive you could only buy them from Rene directly at the moment. still a pita to have it stuck for almost a month at the customs.

On page 206 I did a post about worn down middle sections and means to extend their usage.

The problem with worn down middle sections is the lowering of the spring action on the locking system.

Yesterday, I received some mica washers I specially ordered for that task.

Here they are, one is already placed in the filter, just the right size to keep the holes free.

This is the patient, a worn middle section with an uneven rim which is not sealing anymore.

It needs sanding down in order to get it flat again.

ricavp.jpg

After a few strokes on a piece of sanding paper it looks like this. I only sanded as much it needed to get a good spring action together with the mica washer, which is a spacer at the same time.

It works really well and may be, that middle section will last for ever because it is sitting on the heat insulating mica washer, it is a win, win construction. Soon I will see how the cleaning goes and if it can be used several times. I think the residues and the heat will bond the mica even more and make it last for a long time.

The moral of the story is: I will be out of business soon because I am making things which last forever.

As no one responded to the last post about the mica washer, I am not sure if this is of any interest and if I should order such washers? I myself think that it is pretty cool.

those washers are perfect. I recently sanded my VM and noticed a slight amount of looseness in the locking mechanism. I was contemplating using a small bead of silicone in the same way your mica washers are used. I for one would be very interested in acquiring some if they become available. thanks for always looking at ways to improve or service your product.

Very nice!!! I Am definitely interested. The mid section of my Vapman has had a slight wobble ever since I gave it the "Charr" treatment. I think I may have "burned" off too much of the bottom on my mid section. I have considered sanding and re-drilling screw holes but this looks like a much better solution.

I was experiencing the same thing and fixed it this morning.

My problem was that one of the legs on the pan wasn't screwed down as tight it should have been.

I thought it was my midsection for a while until I noticed the play in the pan when rocking it.

My legs are getting loose about every month(usually only one or two). I am almost certain this is happening because of the normal expansion and contraction of the metal parts. So for me this is a part of the standard maintenance procedure that i enjoy doing a lot, of course the rest is mainly cleaning middle the section.

Of course it is very cool and an excellent idea especially for anyone that likes to "play" with their toys like that ;). Vapman is being boosted higher and higher through this forum!!
We can find a normal metallic washer but a mica one not so easy. So i am definitely in for having some of these for later use and make my first vapman last for a looong time. My gold platted bowl is still in an excellent condition and i love that :brow:

Very elegant solution @vapman. If it works well to insulate the middle section will you start making them like that?

My new walnut basics middle section wobbles on the filter too. If you put the filter on a table it will sit flat but the middle section rocks around. I think one of the screw holes in the wood is a tiny bit low? Or the hole in the filter is too high. If I don't pay attention when I'm locking the middle section in it will jump up above the spring. I'm thinking I will drill out the hole in the filter .5mm and see if that fixes it.

My station has been getting as much love as it deserves because another vape entered the line up at the same time. I'll be giving it a work out this weekend though with some super yummy rosin I have :D

Mmmmmh with the products you make I don't think so... since when I got mine two of my friend ordered a Vapman and the Station is convincing someone else.

As I DIY'd the hell out of my first middle section in order to make it work for much longer than it should, I am thrilled with this idea!!

The fact that the design becomes even more sustainable is also a huge plus for me. If every manufacturer thought like Rene, our precious earth might not suffer so much now!!! Build things to last people, then maybe we last and prosper as well.

Thanks for the echo about the mica washer!

Have to test it a bit further and see how the cleaning goes before deciding to bring out vapman with the mica washer as a standard version.
As for now, I think that adding some washers to every sold vapman would be a good idea and very helpful to the user as he can use the middle section for much longer.

A first series of these washers has been ordered and they should be here in 3 weeks! The good thing is, that they can be sent in an envelope for little costs all over the world.

Talking about the middle section: Did I ever mentioned, that the filter should be loose a little bit in order to adjust to the shrinking and expanding wood. When mounting the filter I leave the screws about half a turn loose.

I will keep you posted about this project.

That's good to hear, especially given my recent postal service odissey! Looking further to order some spare parts as soon as the washers are available.

Thanks for the info, very useful to know when reassembling our beloved Vapman.

This is awesome!

Lately I've had too much going on and I haven't had much time to get on the thread.

It's so cool that René is always inventing ways to improve the already perfect vapman!

So cool to see everyone enjoying their stations too.

Beagle's video is awesome:

The ss filter's holes are bigger than the screw. This gives you a bit of wiggle room to adapt in case it's needed. Sometimes it's enough to loosen the el screws, reposition the screen and retighten them.

Maybe not work in your case though.

For those with loose air tubes:

Check on the air tubes about every month, depending on use, and retighten them. Don't over-tighten or you could strip the wood's threads.

Peace :peace:

I'm willing to bet that the new VM station is on everyones wish list
And what the inventor keep secret is, that every lady loves the station as a hand warmer in the winter! Now René is in the phase of development for a device against cold feets.:D

i had exactly the same thought in my mind::tup:

In our days of such a lot crap-products, undesirable developments and planned obsolescence it's a wonderfull and rare thing to have such manufacturer like René!

Have to test it a bit further
Here, here! I' m the perfect victim for a long term study! :D

In fact, my oldest VM, which I use only for bigger heat jobs like hash and other extracts, the middlepart seems to wiggle a little bit on the pan.

I will phone you within the next few days And I got also a new tasty treats development out of my kitchen for you! But I have to warn you: my products last normally not a long time and they seems to evaporate without a VM!

so I am thinking of getting a vapman, and wanted to know what I should expect performance wise compared to the arizer air and E-Nano. Those have been my daily drivers, but the vapman has been really appealing to me lately, the only thing holding me back is the butane factor. anyone who has used both types who could give me a rundown on what to expect?

thanks!

No butane taste whatsoever.

The main difference is the vapman is a two handed vape and the air is a one handed vape.

There is a slight learning curve. But it is very easy to figure out.

There is no temp control like the air of course, but you will find that your flame application technique will be key to achieving flavor hits or big clouds with less taste.

The small pan is very conservative.

I own numerous electronic vapes, including the mighty...and I have been using the vapman as my daily for the past few weeks.

Get one. Great service. Superior build quality.
