The Herbalizer

So @sch15m i read all the past convos for herbie repair and it seems they said they will charge me for the repair but never did. I think i benefited of PV customer support (ty robert) as an early customer, they did link me to herbie team to repair.

Just an FYI, i always unplug Herbie after a session.
Ever since the first day of hearing the buzzing converter i decided to do this.
Anything that buzzes kind of worries!

I had the buzzing when herbie is plugged in. i stopped to let it plugged.

I remenber Herbalizer claimed international units (outside CONUS) was not covered in warranty....that's why I never think to buy one, too expensive to buy without warranty! Isn't it true?

I am going to word it by inceptive quote:
"Herbalizer LE is such a well designed vaporizer and mine have seen such use that it is worth any penny. Even if i had no warranty i would have take it with my informations now."

It made me rediscover bags and dry vaping, precise temp, pure convection, slicing every load like a fine spanish ham, not eating it by 5cm pieces and spitting the major part of it blowing your hits.

My bowl is used as intended minus upper black rubber and plus tube+14mm male small glasspiece, the stock big threads assembly is not very strong but if clean, you close it 100% of the time, keep closed. brush every time, collecting honey and switching screens to maintain, ISO bath every month or so.

The dark sides of herbie are still here to discuss, bags, valves, aromatherajoke, whip.
And future, I doubt there will be any herbalizer further version but this one is really really usefull.

Almost there...
@MinnBobber

I am in Canada, so running Herbie on the correct power.

With the lid closed and Herbie plugged in, turn her over and put your ear to the grill.
You will hear the buzzing sound from the transformer.

I'm not sure if it was from the 1st or 2nd drop. I ordered in July of 2014. Would that fall within the range of the first or the second drop?
That was the drop; that's when I got mine. But it wouldn't surprise me if they changed their stance. That's a bummer if that's the case. I hope Massdrop takes care of you. It is a bit worrisome that Massdrop stopped selling vapes.

When you bought it did you have it shipped directly to Europe or did you get it sent to a us address and then forwarded to Europe.

If it makes you feel any better, I had bought mine through Massdrop and Herbslizer won't look at it either. Awhile back Massdrop had sent me a prepaid label to return it to them, but has not responded to my latest email.

I'm thinking about just printing the label and shipping it back anyways to take the next step in the process, as there is no expiration on the shipping label that I see.

I used to live in the US. I got it directly from them. Then I relocated to Europe and took it with me.

Really sucks about the massdrop thing. Hope they help you out.

@Vapodudule

thanks for all the info man. I think they are charging me, Carissa from Herbalizer emailed me back and said it might cost somewhere between 50-100 USD. I think it's not that bad considering there is nothing out there close to the herbalizer. Just waiting for my RMA form, impatiently.

In regards to the herbalizer vs volcano I can say this...having used the hard valve on both heavily, the volcano gets gunked up with resin and bits of ground flower. The herbalizer leaves a clean almost resin free path through the valve. It's much cleaner than volcano hands down. You also get milkier rips with much less in the bowl. This is coming from a reformed volcano owner.

I never noticed my Herbie buzzing when plugged in. My Herbie and cloud and some cool LED lights are all plugged into a WeMo and most of the time there is zero power to the Herbie. I guess it is good I don't keep it plugged into an active power switch all the time.

I'm still loving my Herbie, but I'm finding the vapor a little too irritating on my throat at the higher temperatures that I prefer 420F +.. I've avoided all water filtration options in the past, but I think I'm ready to take the plunge into water world! I like short, yet potent sessions, so if I could use glass and clear a .2g bowl in say 5 or 6 hits with little harshness vs vaping the same load dry with 12 to 15 hits then I'm in!! That said, what the fuck do I need to get rolling?

Do I need the Ratchet V2 SonnG or that other universal adapter?

What type of glass do you guys recommend? I'm thinking something simple like the VapeXhale hydro tubes that I could simply place on top of the bowl. Which model I have no idea. I want to minimize harshness without loosing too much in the flavor department. I imagine I'd want to go with a regular size hydro tube vs the mini tubes especially if I want to take large smooth milky rips.. Right?

I don't want an elaborate set up that looks like a kids science project. I just want a simple functional setup to enhance the enjoyment of my Herbie..so what should I get FC people??

I just talked to a representative at Herbalizer, wow. I am very disappointed with this company and I will not go anywhere near their product. What kind of "high-end" decides to lie to their customers? I know she was lying about lots of the stuff she said, she had no proof of certain things she claimed and was doing nothing but bashing other vaporizers and claiming that the herbie was superior in every way. What a joke of a company, when I told her that she was spewing false information she ended our chat and linked me to the email.

If this company isn't able to take a bit of questioning as to why I should spend an extra 300$ on a herbalizer instead of a volcano or a evo then they don't deserve the status they seem to have here.

Then too, maybe your requested info was beyond the scope of the "phone person" you talked to. They might have tried to answer your XX questions but it was beyond their knowledge of the product.

Many on here probably know more than she does about the product and history and comparisons to other vapes so you might ask here too....

If the cost of a hydratube does not put you off, then I would grab one along with a Ratchett V2. I love that combination, personally.

For high temp vaping, I find the larger tubes to be preferable, especially if the vapor seems harsh through a bag or whip. The mini tubes don't cool quite enough when you get above 410, IMO.

Yes, the @Ratchett V2 Song will get you set for a hydratube.

The VapeXhale HTs are hard to beat, especially since the price dropped. They all do a great job of moisturizing the vapor, IMO more important than cooling. Much smoother with a little moisture.
I love the Turbine but they are all good.

Go on VapeXhale site and decide between the two style---mouthpiece is in top middle of can and curves outward OR mouthpiece goes out from side of can (sidecar style). Both are available now.

Note: that fc member @stickstones has a discount code, good on even their sale pricing. Code might be "sticksones" but sure ??? Check his posts, link in there.

Just saw the ratchett in action with a HT, looks amazing. Gotta try that combo!

Does anyone know any good European sites that sell hydratubes?

Thanks.

I would love to hear more about your experience. Professionalism is important, and a lack of it is disconcerting, but given how many problems I've had with all of my vaporizers, the Herbie's simple and consistent brilliance has been a blessing.

I've owned all three of Vapexhales latest HT's due to some shipping mistakes. I originally ordered the Hydrabomb and they sent me the Turbine by mistake. Then they sent the Hydrabomb a week or so later. I compared the two and the Hydrabomb was a clear winner for me. It is ultra smooth and has very little resistance. Awesome flavor and diffusion. Superb perc action. They also sent me a Hydrahoneycomb and it is pretty nice too. I do prefer the way the Hydrabomb hits though. The sidecar is really nice and comfortable to hit. You really cant go wrong with anything they have to offer. Once you switch to a HT you'll wonder how you went so long without one.

That's what I was thinking..A bigger piece would be better if my goal is to kill a bowl in the least number of hits possible.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know the VapeXhale tubes were even on sale. Now I'm motivated to buy for sure..so I'll go with the Ratchet SonG V2.. Btw, what is Rachet's universal adapter for then? Is it if you wanted the whip to attach to water?

Vapefiend carries Vapexhale stuff. I'm not sure if they have hydratubes right now. I'm in the US, but I recently picked up some Vapexhale glass from them that was not in stock anywhere else I could find.

@Chill Dude ,

@Ratchett Nearly Universal Adapter is for many vapes --to connect to a hydratube or for inverting onto a water bubbler. Mighty, miniVAP, Crafty and many many more that have a mouthpiece with an oblong end.
IMG_7059__64154.1441280375.100.100.JPG

I think it is too small for the Herbie bowl connection.

?? Universal Adapter with its oblong intake connected to Herbie round whip might still work, mating round to oblong BUT silicone is very pliable. It might work as a whip to bubbler connection...

EDIT: I have the Mighty adapter----but probably functionally/size equal to Universal Adapter?? Same oblong end
- The Herbie round-end whip will fit into the Ratchett oblong adapter end and get airtight seal-- tested it.
so this could be used to connect to a bubbler or HT

- The Herbie bowl + adapter: exit nipple will also fit into the oblong adapter with a caveat, it's like trying to stuff Dolly Parton into an A-cup ;)
It can be done but it's under some serious pressure...... you could use this to connect to a Hydratube. It would work BUT not be nearly as secure as the bigger Ratchett Herbie V2 Song that wraps around most of the bowl/ fits perfectly

Okay ordered the Hydrobomb tube and the Ratchet V2 adapter.. What's the best product to clean the Hydrtubes? Just ISO? And how often do feel the need to clean? Every 15 sessions or so? I'd imagine that vapor won't gunk it up as much as combustion..

I use ISO and salt. Works pretty well. There are a few places where it can be hard to get the residue out but I imagine something like a toothbrush would really make that easy. I just clean mine when it gets bad looking. It does take a while to get nasty though.

I've been wanting to try glass for a while. Being an old fart, and mostly hangin' with non-users during my working years, I've never had an opportunity to try glass, aside from bongs in the 60's and 70's (do bongs even count?). I read some of the glass primer thread on here, but I was overwhelmed. So, based on the recommendations above, I've ordered @Ratchett's V2 and a Hydrabomb, and am looking forward to giving it a try. Thanks for the info, guys.

On another note; I've been using the whip exclusively, and it's tendency to become kinked near the bowl has been a real nuisance. It occurred to me that inserting the whip into a spring might help. My wife found a product called "Cable Twister", that is (obviously) intended for organizing multiple cables. It turns out that it is the perfect size, and is easily wrapped around the Herbalizer's whip. My whip kinking problem is now a thing of the past.

She said that the volcano was unable to keep the temperature consistent, that it would change by 100 degrees. She said that they are working on fixing the problems with the bags but when I send them emails about it they don't say much so I'm not sure it could be true.

I asked her why they couldn't support overseas just cause of the difference in the power plugs, she couldn't answer which is fine but I just don't understand why they can't support overseas customers anyways it just seems like they're trying to save money any way they can.

It does sound rather unprofessional. I'll bet that senior management wouldn't be happy to hear that.

As to the issue of supporting overseas customers, I think they have valid concerns. Quoted from another site;
"The utility frequency, (power) line frequency (American English) or mains frequency (British English) is the frequency of the oscillations of alternating current (AC) in an electric power grid transmitted from a power plant to the end-user. In large parts of the world this is 50 Hz, although in the Americas and parts of Asia it is typically 60 Hz."

Cool idea. That does not look like a standard whip to bowl connector though.

Here is how I do my whip setup. I have used it with Ratchett's Hydratube adapter (original) and have used it with a glass adapter that I use funtac to keep stuck to the bowl. The custom glass piece I have there is just so I can put a hemp fiber in there to smooth out the hits a bit more, capture reclaim, and reduce the amount of vapor haze that builds up on my glass. Those hemp fibers are especially good when doing oil because all of those oil droplets that build up on your glass get caught by the hemp fiber and are easy to vape later. I hate wasting oil.

Because I use that right angle adapter it makes using the whip great. I never get a kink.

v1mzwzY.jpg

I came up with a new way to use my pieces that I will post later today or tomorrow.
