Thanks so much for all the information! The built up oil makes sense as oil/wax is known to cause my COPD to act up (especially resin/reclaim dabs) , thus explaining the chest tension I get and light headedness that goes alongside these high temp sessions.

I cleaned out the CU a couple days ago, but I didn't really notice much gunk built up. I'll go examine it closer in bright lights to see what I can find. I'll probably try heating up the Crafty to warm up the CU before scraping it.

I'll report back when I can, thanks again!

No problemo mate.

Although, if I were as sensitive to reclaim as you have described, then I would suggest getting 99.9% isopropyl alcohol, disassembling your cooling unit and submerging it in ISO for 30mins.
Then rinse it in under tap water for a minute or two and reassemble.

I also do this after every scrape.

My heat and scrape technique is more applicable when you have a decent oil build up and you want to use reclaim (which you obviously don't). Otherwise if your not going to use the reclaim, just ISO bath it without scraping.

Remove the screen and make sure the shelf under it is completely clean. It gets a hard build up on it that affects the airpath.

Hi all,

First time poster. I'm very close to buying a Crafty, with two caveats. The battery issues are somewhat alarming. A $340 vaporizer should not have any problems like that. What the fuck? Has this gotten any better yet, or can I expect to need a replacement every 3 months?

And second, I'm wary of buying one only to find that a newer model or a price drop is coming soon. Has anyone heard about either of those? Or is this a great time to buy a Crafty?

Thanks.

Have you considered a Mighty? Yes, more $, but I am much happier having "upgraded" when Crafty #3 failed.
There are certainly lots of happy Crafty vapers, to be sure. I do believe that if you will use it, say, multiple times per day, the Mighty is more robust and better suited to that kind of use.
Both work great!

Many here say that Puffitup is a good shop to purchase from, ask Randy what the best he can do is... (just repeating what I've seen here)

I went ahead and bought a Crafty from Lighter USA for $304 with a free four-piece grinder.

Went with the Crafty over Mighty for more portability. I vape about 30 minutes a day, 4-6 days a week. I also have a Pax 2, so if I do need to send in my Crafty for a replacement, I won't be without a decent backup.

Bickel & Storz have changed their policies and now have an 80 hour limit for the battery where the customer has to pay to have it replaced if it fails past this point.

Puffitup offers a 15% FC discount. Their customer service and assistance with warranty replacements make them by far the best option to buy from.

Hey guys,

I'm contemplating cancelling my Grasshopper order and getting a Crafty instead but have a couple of Q's:

Is the battery life really only around 45 mins?

Does it seriously have an auto-shut off time of 1 min?

Thanks

The Crafty has about a 40 minute run time between charges so you will get about 4 sessions per charge. It does have a one minute auto shut off, which means if you do not take a hit within one minute, it will shut off. I find this feature useful as if you forget, your meds aren't getting wasted.

I was concerned about the auto shut off but it's really not an issue for me. I just tap the button when I feel I'm getting close to the minute mark and the timer resets. It vibrates when it shuts off so you'll know to turn it back on immediately if you forget (unless of course you turn the vibration off).

Had my crafty 7 or 8 months now. 40+ hours V2.06 with the old moulding. No cracks, no performance issues, no major battery degradation (not that it was ever great), no complaints. I actually want it to die so I can get the updated version but no signs of being close to that point yet.

I should also add that I don't baby it. I charge it whenever I want to, even when it's still warm and leave it charging overnight quite often. Sometimes I drain it and sometimes I charge after each use. I've never cleaned the oven. It gets chucked in the bottom of my bag with no case or anything. It pains me to see you guys babying them for them to still die after a few hours. I appreciate that mine probably isn't used as hard as some of yours though as I'm more of a dab guy these days. I'm gonna have to put in some hours if I want a replacement before the warranty expires, not that I mind :D

Am I right in thinking that the main attraction of the crafty is the built in water cooler?

Could this not easily be replicated with any vape by just buying a simple bubbler?

No. There's no water involved with a factory Crafty. it's basicly air-cooled. Some people run it through water.

There is no built in water cooler. The mouthpiece attachment is sometimes referred too as a cooling unit, but it just puts a bit of distance between the heat source and your lungs allowing the vapor to cool a little. It does work, obviously not like water.

The selling point imo is that it's a little powerhouse. There's a reason the battery doesn't last long, not just that there's only one lol. Thick vapor on demand however you hit it, imo.

Buy it from Puffitup with the FC discount. Puffitup are better to deal with than Bickel and Storz when it comes to warranty replacement issues.

Just curious, but why? Does Randy ship you out a brand new unit or something and do the warranty work for you so you don't have to send direct to s&b?

Damn, have had my Crafty for a while now, and have only TWO hours on it! Which is perfect, because it means that i'm using it for its intended purpose....portability! Just haven't had much need for on the go, usually don't in the winter. Still wanted to make sure it worked ok, and I haven't had a single issue with it so far (no overheating, BT issues, etc. like my OG Crafty).

My biggest issue is battery management..... since I don't use the Crafty often, it's not really healthy to keep it stored ready for use at a full battery, but catch 22 when I need the thing I don't want it only 40% full. Ah well, vapeworldproblems!

Dude, PIU is ONE OF A KIND! Some try to imitate, but can never duplicate! With that being said, maybe try Vapefiend?

Is there a Puffitup equivalent in the UK?

Yeah vapefiend is really the only choice imo. Thankfully it's a great choice. I'm almost certain that I read VF were handling another members crafty warranty in house but I could be wrong.

Puffitup look after the customer by sending out a new unit and then deal with Bickel and Storz themselves. Since changing policies Bickel and Storz have been even more difficult to deal with for the customer regarding warranty replacements.

I had a terrible experience with Vapefiend and would never use them again. They sent me two defective items and were very rude to deal with during the refund and return process.

i ordered a alpha by goboof from owl vapes on the 20/12/2015 and it didnt get sent site went down and i assumed i would need my money back via bank and contacted them but the seller contacted me recently apoligised and after a short convo offered me a pax 2 i didnt know anything about it but liked the idea of convection so requested a free upgrade to crafty and he agreed what do you think is crafty better than alpha?i wanted alpha primarily for he fact that i have read that you can take shorter draws will i be happy with the crafty what do you think ?im from the uk so paid 129 for the crafty?
