FC Meet Up, 2016 Cannabis Cup, somewhere in CO

@Silver420Surfer you just answered questions I didn't even know I had. It would be awesome if this thread started up again (not particularly now) before the cup. Meeting other FCers out of the blue would not just be fun, but it would make connections between smart people that need to be made. The heavy money is coming to squash us soon- meet each other quick!!!

Btw, to keep this thread's topic on the slide, if you are wondering what cup to go to next year, consider the Chalice Cup in california. Nothing is bigger, more easy going & down to earth, b.s. free, or well ladie'd. I had a great time, when usually I'm stressed about the failings of jackasses. Maybe it was because I was a guest instead of a booth. But it was time very well spent.

@vaporbrothers --No doubt, Chalice has become the go-to fest, pretty quickly I may ad. I may try this coming year. I haven't even heard if the 710Cup in Colorado is even still on. Website ticket info still shows July 10, 2015 lol. I have been less impressed each year I go the Cup. Not always the best representation of our culture/industry/passion. I have enjoyed talking to folks at the booths when the crowds die down for the day, and things aren't so hectic. But you never know when that'll be.

Agreed, we need to know the good peeps before even more big biz money enters the game. Trying to make a name for myself in a new state, and "new-to-me" industry, I know I can use all the industry friends I can make.
Lots of folks still operate very "clicky", just like when all this was illegal. Then, if you work in the industry you have to deal with all those not in it, that know how to do it better, grow better flowers, make better extracts, all because they still do it "clandestine", if that's the right word. Do they call them "wooks", maybe. Or are those the acid guys? IDK.

Keep in touch thru here or PM, @vaporbrothers ...and if you're in Colo prior to the Cup or whatever, you let me know so I can get you some of what I post in the "Share that dab stash" thread for your VB2/2.5!! I'll help you put that thing thru the wringer! lol

I wonder if we could get a Fuck Combustion booth at this year's Cup? Make up some FC T-shirts,dab pads, etc., all proceeds going to costs of running the site/mods fav charity/mods or something. Maybe a couple vendors would be willing to share the booth, selling their wares like @vaporbrothers , @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd , @Ratchett etc.

Just spit-balling here. Obviously @pakalolo would have to sanction it.

Sorry to jump in before Pakalolo gets here but I'm pretty sure FC doesn't allow forum members to represent FC!! although an "FC Appreciation Booth" sounds like anything goes! Personally, I don't mention FC at trade shows or online because the info I share here is a bit raw, more reserved for enthusiasts who find this forum on their own. If FC ever needed more members or publicity though... sure many of us would lend support. It's such a unique place.

This is still on the topic of FC'ers wanting to meet up somewhere somehow.

ok, the wife and I are ready to start planning the 2016 iteration of the Denver cup, but I have been unable to find any dates as of yet. any Denver locals heard anything? I want to reserve a hotel downtown, but I need dates to do so.
TIA!

So with the 20th falling on a wed, would the weekend prior or the weekend following be best? Trying to lock up a hotel downtown asap, but hard to do without knowing dates yet. I am looking at coming in on the 15th and leaving on the 21st as of now...

Also thinking of coming out with some friends, but I have serious hesitations...

Cant figure out if I want to deal with crowds, overcrowding, waiting, etc. or if I might enjoy my next Co trip more if I go another weekend when I can get into all the dispensaries and restaurants I want.

@FlyingLow From my experience last year, the crowds are only at the actual cup or other gatherings where you would go to find crowds and the only waiting there was in the lines for free dabs (and even that was minimal waiting). Never really had any exorbitant wait to speak of at any of the dozens of dispensaries we visited. I cannot wait to get back out there this year and every year thereafter!

High Times is pretty late this year with their announcement, hopefully this means something new, like a new location perhaps? I know last year Denver was not so kind to them.

I just read in the Denver Post that the Merchandise Mart (where the cup has been held the past 2 years) had their permit denied for the cup this year. Not sure what they will do for a venue this year.

Yeah, the Cannabis Cup is just too dangerous! What with a track record of 3 years with no deaths, shootings, fights, hell.. any problems except lines and crowds.

I mean, the 420 rally held right in public open space in front of the state capital is the event that had a shooting, yet they still gave them a permit the next year.

So which event is really unsafe, and what's the real reasoning for the lack of permitting this time around?

It was only a week or so ago that drunk buffoons were rioting in the streets over the outcome of a game that they did not participate in.(super bowl) But hey, that's football and booze, so it's clearly not a problem! But one health issue and an idiot jumping out of a moving car near the cannabis cup is just too much!

I do find it exciting that they applied for the Cannabis Cup to take place the 16th-20th. 5-day Cannabis Cup? Wee-wow!

Well it can really go either way, it seems.

This event makes High Times a healthy amount of revenue, and any county/city that wants to host such an event will also benefit greatly in the same way.

Adams county made their decision, and High Times usually isn't afraid to say "fuck you" back and move the event elsewhere. I mean, they don't even do a cup in Amsterdam anymore because of that type of crap, and I also believe they moved a cup from WA down to OR recently too. If you don't want them and the revenue they bring, then they seem to be willing to find someplace that is.

The problem is that at this point time is not 100% on the side of High Times. But then again, this event is always huge and keeps growing, so I know people already have plans around the cup, as does High Times, and they want that $$$ and to keep the prestige of their event. Not like they need to advertise, just send out an email to everyone who bought a ticket to past events.

Bottom line, cup or not, if you are in Denver the week of 4/20 there will be a shit ton of totally awesome cannabis related gatherings, parties, and events. You'll have a blast regardless. And the mountains.... that's what it's all about.

I know for a fact if there is not cup, we all better go downtown to the rally on 4/20 and force the public to see us getting stoned because they do not want to give us our private, ticketed, space to enjoy it. I'll take the $100 public consumption ticket if need be. I hope I don't get shot... thanks Adams County!

This would not be such a problem if they actually treated Cannabis like Alcohol and allowed us to have clubs to socialize in and vape in.

Well I say fuck all this commercialism anyway... booking my trip for the weekend of April 9th. I expect none of the lines and fees and other bullshit that comes along with the cup.

Will likely be based out of boulder to be with family.
