Rosin Technique....Easy DIY Solventless

Here's a new parchment technique I've been trying out, really squirter from this purple princess I got the hookup on. Helped but like you said, leaked out a bit still @iDRINKBLEACH
That's @280 with hair iron and body pressure, 15% yield. Did an eighth run to see how it'd taste (amazing). I believe I'll get a whopping 20% with @Joel W. Plates I have coming in.:brow:

So as far as yields go... If I get a t shirt press & some micron screens what kind of yield am I looking at?
Dont get a t shirt press for the same if not less you can get a small vice(you can find some more helpful then a shirt press for $30, glue in plates from @Joel W. ($100) and two cheap 60 w solder irons ($10-$15) each. Unless your recycling your chips (and who prefers edibles over dabs any who?) You're going to waste more money in loss of yields then you will save with a not so great setup. Thats just my opinion coming from my experience from a straightner and all 130 lbs of me to smashing bubble hash n hitting around 70% on my higher grades.

I am actually not real comfortable with the liability of glue in jaws now, knowing that some of you leave your irons on 24/7. Sorry, but bolt in jaws only for now on.

I applaud this move, but I'd go further and publicly advise people of the risks of leaving equipment of this nature on 24/7
Besides, think of our poor environment :|

If you're squishing every day, why not just do 2 or 3 times more and avoid the need for daily pressing?

I'm not trying to tell Joel or anyone else what they must do BTW, just my :2c:

. Yes, this is one of the reasons I do not include the soldering irons. I just found out the other day and it's been on my mind ever since. I will be posting something soon to my thread.

Edit: I am also thinking of using a set screw to secure the irons in place.

Oh thats a bummer, I never need mine on longer then 30-45 I went 3 hours once and didnt need to turn it back on for a few.
I need to screw mine into the plates i had a solder fly out when i caught the cord n gave a little tug.

whoa...

wouldnt there still be a decent amount left in the flowers...? all smashed in there?

i suppose a you could always wash the leftover. looks like ima have to try this out.

you could do this with Slick Sheet instead of pachment.... hmmmm

@darkrom, not to be a pest, but when will you be trying this?

what about grinding the material first?
I wasted a quarter pound trying to do this rosin-tech shit not once have I got a yield, I've tried every temp that people recommend from 100°-280° I've done the 1-3sec press the 3-5sec press some even say wait 20secs I dunno but it's honestly a waste of time, I'd rather just use my extractor and get 35-40% yield back than to do this and so far I've gotten all together maybe 2 taster dabs

Sounds like your doing it wrong I'd have somewhere near an oz(most likely under). 40% yield bho you would have to be blasting kief? What's your tech ? How dry is this weed you've chipped up a qp of? How much do you weight? Im guessing your using body weight and a straightner? Have you tried a different strain with the same tech?

Edit*** if you only pulled a taster from all that. You can blast it still and get return. Or looking into the upcoming thread in portables the ELO uses chips of herb in its chamber to vape. You would be set for quite awhile :p haha I only kid

Press some hash. If that doesn't yield idk the Universe must have it in for you

But have you read through this thread? If you follow the advice on here (best online source for rosin info, honestly, and I'm not talking about my noobish posts here) you can't go wrong.

Good luck :)

Yeah I don't have a clue like when I make my budder from my bud I don't both with trimmings unless it's edibles, but from doing rosin-tech I never get anything. With the same bud I get about 11-13g from my 30gram glass extractor

And the weed isn't dry I don't smoke dry stuff, well stupid dry weed obviously it's "dry weed" otherwise itd be a waste hahaha but I just don't get it. I usually use ether when I do my blasts

Jadetheduder,

Great Scott!
I haven't pressed anything in so long. Came across some bulk CO2 and flowers were too expensive lately :(

Are there any new cheap commercially ready to go presses out yet? Or am I honestly better with a hair straightener considering its 100% personal use.

This thread has come full circle, now I'm asking you guys whats up lol.

Also, where did we land on the fact that some people were re-hydrating with a drop of water. Got me thinking lately, you can get pure terps pretty easily these days. What if instead of a drop of water you were to use a single drop of _____ (insert various terps) to hydrate it? It would still be organic, but I imagine the resulting oil would be heavily flavored which could go awesome or terrible.

Anyone got some to try it?

Fuck I forgot I have a new folding tek to impart to you guys that minimizes parchment damage at higher pressures and also ensures that your nug is kept inside your plates (even if using smaller 2" round plates like me :D).

This tek has ensured for months that I get perfect squishes first time, every time! I am yet to need more than a second squish of the same 1g nug using this tek :D

Picture walkthrough to follow!

EDIT: Here's the pics:

So I call this the Dodgy Paper Plane Tek (yes, everything is a tek so I decided to take that motif and run with it lol).

Basically, fold a square of parchment in half (ensure that final pouch is wide enough for your chosen nug once squished!).

Then fold the start of the nose of a paper plane, but broadly (as pictured) and not to a point.

Then take the 'wings' at the sides and fold them back behind the parchment. This is easier with Oil Slick's Slick Wrap, pictured here :D

The final pouch you are left with can have the broad 'tip' at the bottom shaped narrower or broader to accomodate size of your bud being squished (narrower for smaller amounts). This will ensure that even if you are vertically placing your bud in-between plates (for example in a vise setup), you will have no problems with the nug falling out of place :)

Bonus is you can keep the top unfolded and watch the rosin ooze out :D

Can't wait to see this! My biggest issue is using a bud that is slightly too large for the 2" plates. I hate when I see a little bit of herb poking out of the roundbar :rant:your tech sounds perfect! Thanks man :D

That is actually the first wrapping tek (tek tiggedy teeekkkk) that I can wrap my Head around!
lol glad to have helped! :) Now just remember not to accidentally finish the folding by rote and make a paper aeroplane instead out of your expensive parchment!

So I have some DMT the strain. To be honest don't know if its copying the other acronym or if it stands for something else but any ways. I do the same amount as @herbivore21 and near same setup. When I squish this DMT it expands like no other strain I have ever seen 1g comes spilling out and around the plate making a horrible mess of the herb n rosin. Any one have strains that expanded like crazy? How did you prevent it. This herb was really stick and not dry at all blew two small holes in my screens when I tried that route...

Give my above dodgy paper plane tek a try bro. Make sure to accomodate for the size your buds squish out to. I am working with a strain that is also very dense, and really puffs out! This is what led me to develop this technique ;)

@herbivore21 some busted out of the bottom. Maybe I shoved it down to far? I might double fold the bottom to make it thicker.

This bud is pretty airy like @iDRINKBLEACH is experiencing so maybe I'll pre squish it into a tighter ball before putting it in the parchment.

One more try for tonight :D

Definitely bro, too far down, you want it to sit in the middle, and should shape the point at the end to prevent the nug from being able to sink to the bottom, this is the aim of the plane nose at the bottom ;)

I would suggest a slightly lesser amount of bud or slightly wider pouch too, finer point to the nose to keep the nug higher up and I only hand pre-squish (using a nitrile glove) into as perfect a ball shape as I can get as small as I can get. Ideally you want the pouch 1.5 times wider than the nug will squish out, with a 'nose' tip angled such to keep the pre squished nug centered and 2 times higher than the nug will squish out to account for folded inaccessible area below the nug as well as some leeway above to stop rosin from spurting everywhere.

Glad you're loving the thick oil pooling too, it is my favourite part, you can usually see in either side of the top opening of the pouch while squishing a beautiful sea of rosin rising!

Second try was better! No blowout but a small corner did peek out of the roundbar (but that is just solved by getting the hang of placement or using slightly less).

Thanks for the more detailed info @herbivore21! Can't wait to try this again tomorrow night
Glad to hear bro :D Yup once you master pouch size and placement and nug placement inside the pouch you'll be consistently getting nice big squishes with no leaks or breaches of the parchment :D

@herbivore21 nice fold tek mate. Thank you for sharing. I started folding mine like that about 3 or 4 weeks ago.

I use buds that are about .3 and roll them into a sausage. My squish rig is a HMK clamp.

When I fold my paper I actually make a point at the end. This means I have a collection area out side of the plates.

The next folds are made so that the parcel is about 2mm wider than the sausage.

When I press the bud sausge ends up in a long rectangle shape and most of the rosin ends up away from the heat.
