Custom Glass Ideas/Designs Thread

I do not see the perc ball moving in that first video and it's missing from the second video..... If I'm not mistaken, the whole point of the ball is to act as a check valve of sorts....

Check out Stevens, the ball doesn't act as violently as the american cans I've seen however.

I imagined Stevens Rattle Can perc would be fine, since the FC-710 has a positive reputation. I'll report back on fuction when mine shows up, if nobody else gets to it first.

The CCG Rattle Can prototype was made with the bottom of the perc totally sealed. They couldn't figure out how to keep the ball retained without sealing the bottom completely.

If the bottom of the perc is sealed, then the ball is totally useless, so the Coil Can prototype was made with an open perc bottom and no ball.

If anyone has any tips, info, or encouragement for CCG concerning the perc issue, I encourage you to contact them and let them know!

I just heard back from Steven about the cobra can and all Jane said "we are ready to produce." And that's it. So I have no idea what that means.

Sellers on dhgate are brief and vague, almost as a rule.

Interest in the Cobra Can seems to be increasing, hopefully there's enough to get Steven to put it into production now.

CCG have been trying to build a Cobra Can prototype for a while, but haven't been successful yet.

CCG still needs to figure out how to make the check ball, which is even more important for the Cobra than for the other Cans, because of the horizontal orientation of the tubing in that design.

Have you attempted to work with Sunshine store? I've been in talks with them trying to get their solo gong right, seem very receptive to feedback and have a great translator.

Sunshinestore received the designs at the same time as CCG, but didn't seem to be as interested in working with us.

If they seem like they may be a good option, then we might as well ask again.

In fact, I just sent a message to ask if they would produce the Cobra Can. If you already have a good rapport with them, @nondarb , it would only help if you asked as well.

Here's the link to the designs, if you need it: http://imgur.com/a/KSGTy

I'm about to send some feedback on their solo gong v2, its not much of a rapport but ill link them the design. Frankly I'm not as knowledgeable as most of you guys when it comes to glass, so I may not be a very good asset!

However they only considered the gong because so many FC members asked if they could make them, putting another bug in their ear may be what gives them the push to realize these designs are worth doing.

That's exactly what I was getting at- you don't need to be an expert, just letting them know you'd buy a certain design gives them incentive to produce it.

It seems like nothing gets made without a number of people asking.

Edit: I was way wrong earlier!

Sunshinestore was working on the Rattle Can for a while, but I hadn't heard any news for about a month, so I forgot all about it.

They didn't forget about it though, and are still planning to release their iteration of the Rattle Can sometime soon.

Also, Steven seems to be starting in on the Cobra Can- here's hoping that work goes quickly!

Lol missed that last part and sent them the link and explained they would be popular, I also linked them this thread more the merrier eh? Finalized solo GONG input as well, they should be in production soon. I had a few other questions so I should be hearing back from SSS (Mike?) soon.

I don't want to overload them but I'm really keen on someone doing some improved HT's!

This is the idea I've had since I got this tube. It functions great, but it was too tall, especially adding a vaporizer onto the bottom. Pushing the 18mm female joint into the base and bending the neck gives an overall height of 9.5 inches instead of the original 14.5 inches. Also, leaving the 18mm joint slightly out avoids the problem of can style joints not fitting all vaporizers without adapters.
-The mouthpiece glass was a good thickness, but the joints and globe section were thin and that should be corrected.
-The recycler return joint needs to be below the perc, which is apparently not the case on all the originals, as pointed out by @Cannabis Connoisseur

Any other suggestions? I am not set on this idea and would change anything. My goal is to get something between the size of the PNWT and the original piece. If anyone wants to redraw this better, with any revisions, I would appreciate it.

Have you asked to see if anyone will make this yet? I'm really missing mine.

@Likes2vape yes I have written sunshinestore, cleanclearglass, and Steven. Here is the link again if you want to write them.

I noted that the perc needs to be as low as possible but still above the recycler return, the glass needs to be thick, and the compactness while still maintaining a good amount of water. I encourage anyone even kind of interested to write the sellers and ask about this hydrotube.

I've only contacted Steven/Jane through the dhgate message system.

If Jane recommends you use email to contact Steven, then that's probably your best bet.

Please report back here if you learn anything relevant to this thread, that way we can all stay on the same page.

I heard back from Steven, Kathy, SSS, and CCG about the recycler hydratube.

Seven/Jane said they will work on a sample today. Kathy and SSS said they would work on a sample and CCG said the MOQ is 50 pieces for custom work so I guess that leaves them out.

Hopefully we will see some more hydratube options soon!

I wrote CCG back and explained who FC was and their tune changed. They said they sent the drawings to their factory. They also said the FC rattle can is in their store. I asked them if they could make the rattle can a little bigger and with a 18.8mm joint next time around.

Edit: CCG responded back and said they will "consider suggestion seriously." So they seem to be open to working with us.

@Likes2vape i think it's bent that way for balance. I'm not really setting it down like the pic so I could see if it's bent the other way it might not stand, but you might see the clouds better. Maybe even 90 degrees from what this is might be better. I'm wide open and just happy at the compact size and how fast it was made.

The joint above the main perc looks much thicker then the original, very happy with that.

@Likes2vape any comments on if the bottom SG18 join is flush with the base?

I feel like a production piece could use a chamber below the perc for extra water protection, like on Stevens hydratube, though perhaps it would make it too big? It would make it easier and less risky for it to recycle though.

I feel a solid line up of gate hydratubes is well over due.
