At first I got "the fourth estate" confused up with fifth column.... or did I? :ninja:
Not really, the fourth column has gotten lazy and is leaning on the fifth column for credibility. :D Or I've poisoned my mind with fifth column propaganda. Or purposefully with comic books.

So I was about to go off topic in another thread, thought I'd just keep that one on point & post random shit.

I used to do some customer service work. Hated it. Best one ever though: Manager puts some paperwork on my desk at the end of January. He just says "Whatever you have to do, make it right."

No ball had ever been dropped worse than this. A woman had written an email asking about her order. She had ordered a coat for her son as a Christmas gift in early December with 2-day shipping. She had called several times & had gotten the holiday help each time and had basically been told each time that holiday delays, blah blah blah.

Problem 1. For some reason, we never shipped it.

Problem 2. It had been re-stocked, sold & shipped. Stock count was -1.

Problem 3. It was a discontinued item on clearance. Even the manufacturer was out.

So I have to tell this to a woman her son's Christmas gift isn't just a month late, that it's never coming. That coat to keep her child warm in a cold & nasty winter. This call can go really badly.

It didn't. My manager did say "Whatever you have to do, make it right."

I called and told her that we really dropped the ball. It is all our fault. I am going to make it as right as I can. I explained what happened and that we had no idea how it did. Every safeguard somehow failed. I found a similar, but better coat by the same manufacturer that was available in the same size/color. The wholesale price was $20 cheaper than she had previously paid. Newer version of the coat he wanted, $20 refund and I threw in next-day air (and made sure it shipped that day.)

She accepted and was quite happy.

What the hell is going on. $1.3 billion jackpot is absurd. I mean I'll probably spend a few dollars on a ticket but no more than that. What a mixed up world we live in. They said they were going to make it harder to win but it's as if its unattainable now.

But I like it!
So in Canada I'm a med marijuana patient, which means each month I order my monthly limit of 5g/day equiv, and it gets delivered and all is well. But if I grow a plant and get caught I could go to jail. Where they will have to provide me internet access to order my 5g/day, as well as the ways and means by which to consume said meds in a safe environment.

Is it just me or are all politicians everywhere totally corrupt and delusional? And if this is true does it then make every single civil servant that works at the behest of said politicians guilty of general asshattery?

The reason I ask is we've recently seen a German language film called 'Labyrinth of Lies', about the war crimes trials of '63, but from their start in '58. I don't usually go to these types of films, but we are members of a local film club and this was January's contribution. It was quite simply a great movie, and highly recommended for fans of intelligent film. And a couple of days later we trip over a National Geographic documentary about the Waffen SS, which was the point of the afore-mentioned movie. There is also a family connection, in that a close relation's maternal grandfather was an SS officer, who went out to work suddenly one evening in Berlin and was never heard from again. The family has lost anyone who knew anything about this, so it's been floating around as an unanswered question for a great many years.

The biggest thing I learnt was that the SS had 2 branches, one as prison guards and one as the countries police force. What they did in Germany during the war was nothing short of crimes against humanity, and this is never at question. The interesting point is that the average German, civilian or non-SS military, had no idea what was being done to people at the bequest of their government. All this due to the fact that the SS was selected to be the creme of the creme, and didn't answer to anyone outside of their own direct chain of command.

The reason all this is winding up in a 'random thoughts' thread is that I just read an article where the new Canadian Prime Minister has agreed that their pro-legalization standpoint may take some time to bring about due to a number of 'international treaties' that previous governments had signed. Why on earth would any country agree to a binding agreement of any type that goes against the will of it's citizens? And if these treaties and negotiations aren't being done in an open and transparent way that is available to all, then it's not being done on behalf of the country at all, and is likely invalid as soon as it's signed.

Are any of these linked? Or are they a bunch of random thoughts? Should I add a *bump* to the end of this post? Does this sound like the end of an old Batman episode?

It seems like in even the legal states folks will still end up in jail due to our fav flower. In WA state come July 2016 the only cannabis basically can be grown is by legal state authorized farms.

Some medical patients still can grow some plants. No growing for yourself unless you are a medical patient if you qualify and if your family doctor agrees. I don't know if my doc will?

We aren't suppose to go to a doctors office that strictly gives out med certifications for cannabis. That's what we have had here, similar to CA. If a docs office gives out more than 30 certifications in a month they need to notify the state. I'm not sure what happens after that?

You can't tell me that all these old timers that have been growing for medical all these years won't stop growing. You know folks will get arrested and have to pay large fines. A lot of these farmers are on fixed incomes and have been supplementing their incomes growing medical cannabis mostly as a cottage industry and out of the eye of the state or the Feds.

WA state had been really laxed with the med cannabis and that was OK with me. The state legislature has imposed rules that restrict the rights of the people. Folks should be able to grow for themselves.

Or want to get entangled with the affairs of another countries problems with some of these treaties. Why are the US National Parks being handed over to the United Nations? What If I'm in a legal state and want to 'recreate' at a 'UN' park. What is the legality of that?
Or why would a country agree to a binding agreement with a dirty corporation? Yes you. Monsanto.

Are any of these linked? Is anything really linked? (false :whoa:)

I think I'm moving to Canada, get a med card, get arrested on purpose, and then have govt get me my meds every month ;) just kidding
Seriously, it makes no sense whatsoever that med patients would get arrested/jailed for a plant. Idiotic.

And Canada having to delay cannabis implementation for a treaty--same thing--makes no sense whatsoever. Unfortunate fallout for cannabis being "bundled" with coke, heroin, meth, etc in that United Nations treaty as now we're stuck with bad bad decision. Same deal here in US when cannabis got bundled here as a Schedule 1 Drug and now we're struggling / having to deal with that monumentally bad decision.

I don't know how to link but yesterday I posted in Fuck You, to "fuck you United Nations" and your stupid treaty

Back when the Donald was a Democrat.:disgust: Then to hear people talk as if he is some sort of bonifide Christian Republican. They haven't even bothered to look behind the curtain.

Not being critical at all. :D But, I was starting to see that crossover.:hmm: Some cross contamination was bound to happen. But I really would like to see some truly RANDOM SHIT :freak: that makes me forget about the donald for like say perhaps an hour of my life. I wish we could ignore him and all forms of politics, discord, and celebrity worship on this thread an go full, surreal, DADA, confuse a cat, break me from my catatonic state for a while. Then I'll recharge my batteries and perhaps take a swan dive back into the minutia for my people and countrymen. :ugh: Or I should take someones sound advice from a fellow poster ;) and walk with the trees and refocus with natures schedule.:peace:

@CuckFumbustion you will reach your goal when you can hear the trees breathe.

Re crossover with the FU thread... I read that one a few times, but it pains me to read about people in pain. So I stopped following it. I'm much more random than a simple FU :)

Edit - random shit alert : does anyone know what an operculum is? Without looking it up?. Because I do. Someone told me a long time ago, and its still stuck in there...

I'm not sure why this came to mind which is why it probably belongs in this thread....

Old Fart Alert!!!!!! Back in the late 70's I was in the Navy and two of the boatswain's mates were looking for trouble so they bought some kind of plant (ginsing?) that when smoked smelled like MJ. One night they just rolled this shit up and smoked it in the hallway leading to the galley just before the nightly movie was to start. They were passed by all manner of commissioned officers and enlisted folk and nobody did a thing except complain about the stench. The next time they played this joke they did it on the aft deck, in pitch black night and it only took 30 minutes before the master at arms rushed out with several others and busted them. When it became evident the stuff wasn't real they let them off ..... and gave them every shit detail possible for the next few months.

Yea I don't want to form that 'simple FU' prejudice about myself and others and offer anything when I can and keep it in perspective.
I cheated and looked it up. But it was random enough for me today. thanks @killick! I have heard of people leaning on trees and getting rid of their chronic back pain.
When I rest on a hike, I'll place the square of my back on a tree. There's something more to it than the muscles taking a pause. Now for a short walk. :peace:

To summarize the insanity; the new regs are good for recreational purchasing but not growing, while they are good for medical growing but not necessarily purchasing (as in no discounts or special products)?

I've gotta say (to conform to this thread if nothing else), that seems pretty random.

Hunh? :hmm:Conform to being random? (fake :whoa:) I only have one criteria for a random post to fit this thread, if creativity fails you or you are simply exausted.
How about a fish reference?

@His_Highness back in the mod 80s one dark stormy North Atlantic night I wandered out onto the quarterdeck for some fresh air only to discover a couple of boat swines sucking on a doobie. Not really wanting to get anyone in trouble I had a quick puff when offered, then went for a couple of beer. Yes, we had a bar ;)

Interestingly enough I don't think I've ever mentioned this story before...

@killick - I myself am grateful for the one time I got 'noticed' by a young officer who quickly turned his back and then turned me in to my enlisted 'chief petty officer' who then grabbed me while sleeping, yanked me from my rack, threw me against the wall and yelled 'Next time you get caught we both go into the supply office and see who comes out with the key'!! At least I didn't have to stand in front of the captain. My chief was a huge guy so ..... Needless to say....I never got caught again

Not as heavy as getting in trouble or shenanigans in the Military. (All NAVY here?) But, I heard a story from someone who grew up in my 'progressive' town that I'm in, that they got caught with a doobie when they were teenagers in a back alley that was also the exit to a concert hall and a funky restaurant. Plus a catwalk off too the side. Plenty of area to lounge and get into trouble. Well the officer snook up behind them, snatched the doobie from their hands, took a long draw, :ko: exhaled, gave them a stern verbal warning and told them to take a hike. When I first heard the story I laughed and thought of it almost being like a parody of the Little Rascals with say Kennedy the cop taking a toke and brushing off the kids with his baton.
