my EQ has been sitting in the cupboard for 2 years since I broke the elbow ( and got a Sub ) and it needs some new tubing...

I miss the fan,, and those forced air hit... And It just look cool sitting on the vape desk.... Why I've not had it out this whole time I dunno...

What size tubing do I get and where is a good place ? please ? I really want it ready to work again even if I don't use it much...

Thanks in advance Det.

I would really like to hear your comparison of a sublimator vs. DDave modded EQ.

I was going to mention in my last post, that I'd bought some new silicone hose.

Arizer have apparently released New High Quality Silicone Tubing. Food / medical grade. Tubing only - does not include any glass attachments.

I have some and it's really good quality.
The inner bore is mirror like in smoothness, the smell is so close to none and the affordability is great.

I'm not sure what the DDave modded EQ. is... Please remind me?

I used mine with the elbow pack method and that was the best I got it..

Nothing compares with the Subs power to completely extract everything all out of one hit, the way the enire thing is heated up has a lot to do with that, imo.

That tubing looks good!

ok,,,, I'm trying to find a pic..

I was wondering what would make the eq more sub like and my stoned self can only think of one thing.... Metal

Make the glass stuff out of metal then watch all that heated metal extract more / faster....

I've said it before I'm surprised it isn't copied more..

Steve has a good pic there of the DDave mod :)

I like what I'm hearing. I was thinking just the other day, I'd love to have a titanium F18/18 adapter. I tried to find a metal one online, but to no avail.

I have used a titanium nail
titanium-tip-nector-collector-14mm-4.jpg

as a whip connector with herb sandwiched between it and the EQ heater. It worked well but it needs drilling to fit an EQ basket which is something I've just decided I'm doing!

Always imagined my EQ working as close to other vapes with different setups and workarounds. So I already have a similar goal/mindset with your Neo-Sub project. I have similar Neo-Vape ideas like the Neo-SSV, the Neo-Cloud Evo, Neo-Volcano, etc. Borrow a design choice and incorporate it with the fittings of the EQ to resemble that.
The Neo-Sub goal, I've mentioned here before in the thread. If my added 2 cents from those posts might help.
I'm happy with my glass setup. It might not be a heat gun like the Sub. But it has performed better with for me since I've been modding it with thicker glass.
Not sure about the internals of the Sub. I picture the Sub using full Conduction a lot more and I'm guessing the heating elements might have more direct contact with the electrical source. Then say an indirect heater source and Fan based convection heat. But, with enough concentrated heat, that titanium nail might absorb enough heat to work closer to the sub's metal parts. I've done it enough by accident to the point of causing full combustion with some overzealous glass and metal screen setups.:cuss:
So, It is possible to get a thick screen heated up enough to turn red and combust the herbs. If you can steer my negative results toward your project.
But I only have a vauge understanding of how the sub is designed to do it's work. What is the preferred temp range of the Sub BTW?

My aim is to have next to no metal, But have my heat setup so efficient, I can literally dial-in the temp I want. The herbs heat closely resembles the display's heat, but in nearly a full convection heat setup. My baseline goal is in a different tangent than what your sub project's aim is. But I have borrowed a few things from their design.
Good Luck!:science: Oh, and my sig has links to the @DDave kit and thread, if you need more pics.

Thought I would pop over here and see how the EQ thread is going. It's making me want to pull mine out and give 'er a go. Haven't used it since I got a Vapium Summit in July. It's all cleaned up with a polish job on the black metal and a clean DDA & elbow w/black silicone tubing.

a little scoop I weight it but it kinda small and hard to be accurate I'd say a big hit is 0.1 but a normal hit is under 0.1 g
Same amounts can be single-hit extracted with the the mod kits I list on eBay for EQ. (same for the kits I've listed for the 7th Floor vapes).

More can be loaded and pieces are included for slower sipping sessions but what you're looking for is definitely doable.

Send me the link to them on ebay... plezze OK I found it but the link can't be seen in your sig if your in light forum mode..... the link is white letter = invisible... somehow I figured it out

I think it is a more than a bit unfair to compare a $1000 vape to a $250 one. From what I understand & my interaction with Sub owners is a good Sub hit is the closest you will get to truly ripping a bong. It should be substantially better & if the EQ could offer 1/2 the performance at 1/4 the price it would be an impressive achievement for one of desktop vapings elder statesmen.

The Sub is one of only a couple desktop vapes that have tempted me away from the EQ but whilst I used to have no issue losing a couple of thousand gambling it is hard to lay down a grand on a vape. @Detonator is that the glass bong you use with your Sub? Only asking because I have the same bong.

My EQ's performance dropped off the last few days a bit & when I was packing it away last night I saw I only had the plug in 3/4 of the way & I did trip on the cord last Thursday vacuuming. I want to test it out but I will leave it until the weekend as it encourages me to behave in a non school night manner .

Just how sophisticated is the Sub anyway? Is there some sort of PID control or electronics involved? It relies on metal and a heat gun to do the work. Not knocking it. Just trying to get a breakdown between the two. Everything else with the Sub could be well engineered and R&D'd enough to work with these two components. (And the EQ with it's own. But I know they keep R&D-ing.;)) But I did visit the Lab glass vaporizer thread for someone who is getting with the science themselves and needs visitors anyway. We all know from elbow packs that the very center of the pack will have the most concentration of heat and that familiar scorch in the center. Not as if you weren't nessisarily planning on placing it in the center, simply out of practicality anyway.

Way back in the FC EQ archives people have hooked PID contollers or had IR repeaters working with their Smart Phone. Maybe that might add to the first question I asked about how sophisticated it is. Also warmed up the bean to some basic understanding of PID math. If you like the cruise control in your car, then thank whatever chip is working it's own PID Loop algorithm with 'special' terms. I only have a small understanding of it ATM, and there are others on FC who are true engineers, mathematicians and scholars who could elaborate better than me.:haw:

Cool, Might as well make the most of a bad situation - FOR SCIENCE! Hopefully you will experience it go back to turbo mode after giving it a pause.

Ok, so I reassembled my duel wand. There is a full wall of silicone tubing (4 segments) wedged between the straight 18mm @DDave wand and my 19mm tube adapter.
Small amount of silicone overlap, so I can corkscrew it a 1/4 turn into the Short F/F. When my EQ gets warmed up, the F/F gets fused to the heater adapter.
So, since I have the option to put whatever glass/tubing adapter that suits me in the top socket of the 19mm. I can lift the EQ from where it stands and direct draw. Like @Stevenski is fond of, with the wrist band around the waist. Still going to keep it stationary as a normal thing. But nice to have options.

I actually fitted my downstem (that I normally use as my ripper wand. It gets the most hottest out of my set.)to the socket end of the 19mm. So the duel lightsaber has been upgraded So there is that option. Plus It is clear glass, so I can look down while I draw and see the vapor action.

Herb gardener...
How can I vape water In my eq????

If i can do this I can eliminate the need for a bubbler or other water tool..

That would eliminate my worries of actives condensing, unseen, in the water..

Yet still add moisture to vapour...

I have 2 eq's I wanna vape herb I one and water on the other at the same time and splice the whips together.?

Thoughts??????

@Stevenski im gonna try the direct draw, gonna use the new mini whip and balloon mp so I get an all glass vapour path... will report back but I'm expecting a hot lungfull and a coffin fit.
And yes I know I how I spelt coughing.

I see good things in your future if you keep the temp under 200c mate. Hell you may like it at 175c or 180c even but if you are using a whip with a DDave setup I would suggest trying it out. If you hate it you can always switch back but I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Gonna snip the fuck outta this Cucky but I am a bit toasty to have too detailed a response

I really don't know. What I do know is it kicks arse all over the shop in all sorts of ways to level cunts like a 12 gauge. That is all i really need to know there. If I get serious about buying one I will certainly be looking at it much closer.

This is what I love about the EQ & it's owners. I am of the absolute opinion that the EQ is made for experimenting with. It is not a bad vape out of the box at all but the original engineers made an inspired choice to use a 18mm heater cover. If the EQ was limited by a non standard fitting it would not be as capable as it is & people can use their imagination.

Every time I use it I think of an old friend who we used to bong on in his bedroom planing SNES in 1993 & he had created a 12+ speaker sound system from stolen car parts :ninja:. He started with only a couple of speakers & it morphed into this ridiculous thing where he channeled a mono TV output into stereo & then split it all sorts of ways. You would pop over & be ripping a cone when your arse would vibrate . His response would be "yeah I installed seat speakers man". This is how I feel when I see a modded EQ :2c:.

See now I got fucking tangented....

I think that direct draw method has hit the spot if your post anything to go by. It is like interpreting an ataxian post but missing praise to the almighty fields of colas :)

I wasn't expecting to hear an equal comparison, just wondering how close the gap between an expensive powerful device and a modded budget model can get.
FWIW I've heard the sub compared somewhat evenly with a cloud EVO, I would like to think a fresh hit from a modded EQ would be getting close to that level of vaporisation. But I have no idea without the ability to try them out.

@kellya86 I'm not sure vaping water will be too similar to vaping through water; I dry my adapter in 260C fan forced air, and it does produce a bit of steam. But there would already be steam mixed in with herb vapour. Water cools down the steam/vapour and can diffuse with it, but I don't think that would quite be the same as inhaling extra hot steam with a hit.

So if they are somewhat even as you saying, then in my opinion the Cloud Evo has the way better design. Cloud EVO being an all glass pathway vape, It doesn't rely on a heat gun for convection or metal parts.:2c:
I have been asking the comparison questions as far as parts meeting function in a side by side between the sub and the EQ. So we could be creative and incorporate the Subs methods. Have tried to have a Neo-Cloud Evo before with using glass screens. . One similarity, The straight airpath from the bottom is much like most of EQ's air-path. But I believe the air entering from the top of the EQ is a factor. More open space inside the unit. hope this helps.:peace:

For sure, I agree. The sub is a bit lacking in design, less so with a heater cover, but the whole thing is a fire hazard without. I've also heard it has unrefined, sharp edged metal parts in the box (might just be the stand). Either way, if they performed equally, I'd definitely get an EVO over the sub, just because it is a better commercial product.
The atomizer on the sub really intrigues me though. I have seen it coupled with a log vape, and it seemed to have some effect.

EDIT: here's the video,

I have not used either vape so I can't commentate other that their owners love them an awful lot. I group vapes by categories & an EQ is $250 in my world, a Evo is $500 & a Sub is $1000 & a Flowermate is under $120 & a Solo/Air is under $280.

I was happy to pay twice the price for my Air over the FM Pro as it works much better IMO. However the EQ along with the DBV & HA series are older generation vapes that still work exceptionally well & are the P4P champions of vape world in bang for your buck.

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
With me, if the unit is robust enough, it is a foundation, a platform to build on. Then I borrow from other vape designs or whatever I can absorb.
I do have my own ideas why the Frankenvape worked as well as it did. The atomizer is stainless steel (or titanium) which conducts heat well, plus it has the length of the pathway to continue to heat the vapor and expand the gas. Then a pinched area before it goes through the 14mm volume of the tube. The Sub site calls it gasification. Not the correct definition of the word. IMHO.:uhh: But, I do get expansion part of the design by sight alone. Plus my experience with SS cooking gear and making homemade camp stoves. Two other vapor toys below.
