next generation e-nails?

Believe it or not, I live in a much more difficult to find green kinda jurisdiction than you! I make what I dab though so it doesn't matter. If you can find good buds, you can find good oil. Especially if you got yourself a sturdy hair straightener and a vise handy :D

Please do ask in the Rosin thread if you're interested in learning this technique, or PM me on any particular extract questions you might have :) Many helped me here when I was first introduced to concentrates, it is nice to be able to pay it forward when I can ;)
I appreciate that a lot. The thing is, when I was looking into doing this myself I figured out the return isn't too good when doing rosin technique. Meaning I would have to buy a lot of good bud to have decent amount end product. The "good" name brand bud is rare to find around here and when you do it isn't cheap. I would pretty much have to learn to grow it myself pretty much. I have no connects. I'm just hoping in the next round, FL comes through to vote for medical in the state.

I love rosin but it is kinda hard to commit to it when you don't grow your own or have access to store-front dispensaries as you never know what a strain is going to yield.

Return is definitely good with the right equipment my friend. You can get into a great personal custom vise squish setup for $300-400 depending on how fancy you want your heat control to be. I just squished out a solid .3g from 1g of flower in 3 squishes and about as many minutes! You can get fantastic returns from the right material with the right equipment.

Sadly where I am is much like where you are, very expensive to get worthwhile flowers if you can find them. This has just pushed me to do better and better with my quality and yields though ;)

This is all for another thread most probably though lol

Hey D-Nail!
Never mind unobtanium dabbing surfaces!
When are you going to get round to producing a Nixie tube or VFD PID?

No thanks I like my normal unportruding screenI don't need more stuff my coil wires can get snagged on yanking my nail off my rig or worse the box off ....seems to me it'd be a easier to break the screens with that sorta display it appears to be plastic.no?

With all this Sapphire Halo talk

Can the sapphire insert compare to the dish? Or have we entered into a different zone when using the dish?

DNail is currently out of stock of the insert right now but i could maybe see it being an alternative when available for those who want the sapphire dish?

Even worse, they're glass!
I take your point re' delicacy, but find the look appealing compared to the standard boring box.

Although I really like to read all about the new material developments happening in this thread, it surprises me that there aren't more attempts to evolve the basic form and/or function of what are essentially re-purposed plastic extrusion devices.

I'm not saying that innovation doesn't exist, or that the form of the e-nail ATM isn't the best current way to consume concentrates btw, just surprised that so few physical innovations to the gear design appear in this thread.

Dab-pens, modded e-cig gear and developments like the h-enail/dabbie/Dr dabber or whatever you prefer to call it are progressing from early compromised novelty solutions into viable tools.
However, I'd love to see more variety when it comes to the basic physical design of the proper electric dab tool.

Yocan have had a few stabs at it.
And some of the devices they've produced seem to have come close to proper e-dabs, but I've not noticed much from America or Europe that explores new ground.
Am I just missing these innovations?

Lots of innovation is found in the form of fancy glass.
Look at all the perk options, double recyclers and heady pieces that exist to satisfy both easthetic and functional desires.

I like reading about sapphire, SiC and even platinum, but I'd personally be more inclined to spend my dough on innovative design (function and aesthetics).

Where are the Zion/Lotus/Vapman/Pax etc etc of the e-dab market, have I just missed them?

Divine tribes ceramic donut atomizer on temp regulated mod is the best portable electric setup for low temp dabs imo. Or you can go with Up Tech if you're into trendy, over priced Chinese gear but I'd avoid their shit as it's super finnicky and doesn't function as well as the Divine Tribes atty.

There's tons of others too like the ones you mentioned that I've tested over the past few years (including having owned the up tech hercules/persei) and the Divine Tribes atty on a temp regulated mod (I use a mini vf) is by far the most enjoyable ime. Great flavor, no issues with airflow or losing your oil down the poorly designed air intake and easy to use so it can be passed to anyone and all you have to tell them is push the button and rip it. If you did that with the up tech herc you'd have a disaster on hand.

I've got an 80 watt battery pack, batteries and 12v 70w flat coils in from China for my diy battery powered 12v enail unit. Just waiting on a couple other parts Some enail company should offer something in the way of this cause shit like the henail is wack. I'd considered doing it myself but too busy with more lucrative projects atm.

The Divine tribes donut has had some great things said about it indeed, and I've been tempted (due to the absence of a cable).
But the thing that I was lamenting was the lack of innovative gear intended for proper dabs through glass/water (sorry, I see that I hadn't made that clear at all!).

Does the DT donut compete with proper e-nail setups?

EDIT :
I'd love to see your DIY battery setup if you're willing to post pic's?

I'm IN LOVE with this idea. I personally don't move around too much when using my enail. If I'm smoking with people it's usually in a small area so the cord is never truly in the way or getting caught on things so this would be just fine for me. I really like this, is there any DIY to do this? I'll be the guinea pig :D

@MileHighLife What sort of temps are you getting from the 12v coils?

@ReeferChiefer http://hackaday.com/?s=Nixie I urge anyone that doesn't know about hackaday and is into DIY with or without electronics to get on there and have a look around, you get some fantastic in depth articles about all sorts of maker stuff, from 3d printing to wood work to PCB design to programming fundamentals and everything in between from exposing crowdfunding scams to discussions on ethics surrounding business practices. One of the articles yesterday was about someone building a DIY Hakko soldering station.

This was a Kickstarter for a 24V power supply.
Think it finished ages ago, I couldn't find a website that still functions (or I'd have bought one! as I love it too)

@Copacetic Here's what I've got so far
287jath.jpg

Damn DHGate seller sent me an 85 - 265v pid when I ordered a 12v so I'm waiting for a replacement 12v pid unit.
Nice dude.
Cordless is a huge step in the right direction in my book, a battery that can attach to the base of a bubbler would be sweet!
The nail cable could be really short then.
Hopefully someone will develop a more enclosed nail that's safer, and less wasteful of heat and consumables.
That's what I'd like to see anyway.

Good luck with the rest of your project, I'd love to see more once you're satisfied with your results

Not sure yet still need a 12v pid to run them but I'll update once it's finished.

Did it say it's compatible with the d nail halos? If so that's awesome cause I contacted iDab a while back asking them if they'd alter the design to work with halos and the dude said he'd look into it. If they did I need to get me one. The seal isn't great using my iDab cap with halos as the lip on the carb cap isn't perfectly flat.

FYI the D-Nail halos are 27mm

Got the High5 branded iDad carb/dabber in the mail today along with the SiC Halo and Slim Series Base. The iDab is beautiful but sadly it's the old version and doesn't fit correctly  (assuming there was an updated version released in the first place?). As you said, it only just fits over the Halo and with a pretty lousy seal at that. I now have a nice piece of glass to display, not much else to do with it. It's still possible the iDab was updated but this one sure wasn't! In the meantime, earlier today I ordered D-Nail's gen/ver 2 carb cap. That should solve the problem. These side purchases are really starting to add up!

D-Nail's Slim Series base is great so far (though I've only torched the combo a few times so I can't really comment yet). It's going to take some work getting used to torching and dabbing on the SiC at correct temps, this thing really does hold its heat! The SiC does taste great but I have a lot of work to do on dialing in the temp for best taste.

I'm looking forward to getting my D-Nail DIY kit so I can put my torch away, but I'm still waiting to purchase. I canceled my Gimido order 7 days ago and though they immediately canceled it as requested, they haven't refunded my money. It has not shipped (they confirmed) and from the moment I asked them to cancel and refund, they have ignored all messages and not responded back once (yes, I was and remain polite). :cuss: I opened a PayPal dispute on day 2 and have sent them a new message daily via the PayPal Dispute system asking for a refund. Not a single response. In a few hours I'll be able to update to a PayPal Claim, hopefully that will finally get me a refund so I can order the D-Nail!

Wasn't sure if I should start a new thread for this so I'll ask here.

Do you guys have any recommendations for where I can find cases to start my own DIY enail? I need to find aluminum cases but don't know where to start.

Props to D-Nail for being super quick about swapping out my straight hole carb cap for an angled hole carb cap. The finish on the new cap looks great and it has the old engraved logo again

The one on the right is the new one and the one on the left is my original.

Much better than the cap I exchanged it for
