I doesn't make any difference for @Vambo1980 as he can just swap his battery whenever he wants, there is no secret way to charge to achieve his numbers, he's just a clever guy (and braver than me as his crafty was still in warranty
) that has made his crafty into what it should have always been, after it broke 
If I remember right when his stopped working it was showing the most common failure/symptoms maybe s&b could learn a thing or two from him.

Yeah I remember following @Vambo1980 posts quite intently. He swapped out his batteries himself (18650) and also removed a thermal resistor? (which helped the overheating issue, I believe). Not if you do the above. The crafty main board will still be the same, thus keep racking up the hours.
As per user comments here and in the mighty thread, most people who opt to pay the battery replacement usually get what appears to be, a whole new unit.
I don't think S&B even bother repairing or refurbishing units, they probably bin them and give a replacement (just my opinion).

Well I think my crafty is starting to go wrong 
Think I'm around 35-40 hours (Bluetooth has not worked for a little while now so can't be accurate) and now the clouds are much less impressive, I've taken everything apart and cleaned/replaced everything I can think of but its just not like it was even on boost (was set at 190 & 210°c on boost) I use it through water using the easyflow WPA most of the time so get a good view of the visuals and I'm using the same herb but its like overnight it's just lost some power.
Little bit gutted as its my first vape that has had problems although I always knew out of all my vapes the crafty stood most chance of failure, still it's not my most used vape and I've got plenty to keep my busy so it won't be too bad having to send it off.

Happy to say I just purchased my Crafty from my fav head shop for a deal, $275 total (tax included). It was the last one they had in the shop and it dated all the way back to the first batch they ever purchased from S&B. It's a v2.04 with an early serial number. From a brief scan of this thread, all I've gathered from the newer units were that they had minor software improvements and the 4 small pegs reinforcing the plastic pieces on the sides of the bowl.
These are the only changes I am aware of. Are there any more revisions or updates??

Last April I bought the Crafty and started to vape again. I have collected 100 Crafty hours and 120gr of ABV.Thanks! :-)
406.9 of those hours have been selfishly mine too, i have about 12oz of ABV built up now...
And I thought it was a lot.

The main issue you'll have with the 2.04 firmware is connecting it to an Android 5 phone. It won't work with the standard Crafty app. You'll have to use a 3rd party app called Vaporizer Control Crafty, made by a member here, @ligi.
I also have a 2.04 Crafty and have to use Ligi's app to change temps/etc. I plan on sending it back to S&B for an updated Crafty soon, when I know I can be without it for a bit.

All great advice, and I had tried everything you mention and more but it didn't help...
But now I'm feeling happy, a little stupid but most of all confused as hell...
I noticed there was an update on the App Store, after doing this it connected to my phone again
and I notice the temps had went back to standard rather than what I had set so this explains the reduced performance.The confusing part is when I checked my hours they had also reset back to 0
So I'm happy it's working like I'm used to again, and I think I remember there is a manual reset using the button, so I guess I must have done this without realising
but I can't get my head around the hours going back to 0, it's not something I remember anyone else posting about and I had a quick search over the last hour while racking my brain and found nothing, I don't really understand software so I'm not even sure how this can happen when all I did was update the app.My worry now is although it seems to be working great again maybe it's just starting to have problems and if I do have to send it in s&b might think I've been messing around with it somehow if the hours/usage look wrong, I mean I'm not going to loose sleep or anything but it is in the back of my head.

Hmm, that's odd because my GS4 is running Android Lollipop (5.1 I believe?) and it connected instantly without issue. But software seems fine so far, my main concern is that after the initial mass production S&B could have found flaws in the body/hardware design and corrected them for later revisions. If this isn't the case then I'll keep rocking the Crafty til it dies.

Interesting. I had assumed the issue with Android 5 wasn't fixed until firmware 2.05, but it appears they did fix it sometime during the 2.04 life cycle. In that case, you're good to go!

I never gave battery care much of a thought with this unit. Often connected it to a charger immediately after use & used immediately after charging complete or even before complete. Sometimes I'd just use it for 5 mins and connect it to a charger again, other times let it get totally flat.

I absolutely babied this unit but got considerably less hours then the first.
Always let it cool before and after charging

Never even near any moisture or dropped.

So given the above I don't think I'll be inconveniencing myself with battery maintenance on #3. I'll try to maintain the best possible charging technique where possible but won't be putting any special effort in as it certainly didn't prolong the life of my unit one any.

After hitting my crafty last night and watching it cool down from 200C on the app, I wondered what kind of temperature do you think its safe to connect the filling tool as to not melt it, but also what temp could you refill the bowl without it affecting your herb? I waited till 60C and loaded it and left it ready to go for today, but wondered if I should/could do it sooner or later?
Also with regard to battery Longevity, what best practice after it has charged, leave it plugged in or unplug so it can begin its cycle?
11 hours in now, and really enjoying it. I've touched my EQ once since getting it

I've wondered this myself. I usually don't bother filling the crafty up until the next time I'm ready to use it. There have been a few times however where I've been going out, just had a sesh at home before leaving and want to quickly top it up to use while I'm out.
I've reloaded on the odd occasion with the temp well above 60c and didnt really notice any performance decrease. I'm sure I lost a tiny bit of herb but nothing noticeable.
I've seen people on here saying to disconnect the Crafty as soon as it's charged but honestly I can't see it making any difference.
The Crafty has a Lithium Ion battery after all, the charging circuitry would have to detect the battery is full and cut off the charge to the battery. Unlike older battery types Lithium Ion don't take well to being left on charge and can easily catch fire & explode. I'm sure S&B wouldn't want to be liable for everyones house burning down.
Received my 3rd Crafty today. Another v2.08. See if we can do better than the 79 hours my last one got!
I will however say, my first session on the new unit was WOW!!!
I've been using my Arizer Air as a backup while I've been without a Crafty & have been really loving it. I was thinking I may just keep using the Air and save the Crafty for special occasions. But 2-3 draws down on the new Crafty blew me away and reminded me why I love it so much! Such cool dense clouds with hardly any noticeable draw resistance. So good for getting real medicated real fast where as I'd be sucking on the Air for 10-15min ending up with really harsh burny draws towards the end.

Did you have to pay the fee to replace the battery on your 79 hour unit? The new cut off level for the battery replacement fee is supposed to be 80 hours. Just trying work out whether that is the fact.

I purchased my Crafty from a major retailer (AV) here in Australia. So I've done both my warranty returns through them. They've been great and shipped me a replacement unit no questions asked within 48 hours of receiving my faulty unit both times.
Not sure if it has anything to do with it but when my units experienced battery problems I kept using them until the Crafty completely died and refused to charge the battery or power on any more. So maybe a bit harder to pass off as an obvious battery problem.

In Australia the battery is covered for the full 2 years of our warranties under Australian consumer law. I contacted fair trading before I bought my unit to confirm.
Ausvapes are by far the best company I have ever used to buy and cannabis related product from. They are awesome.

So if you didn't see my screenshot earlier, I purchased a v.04 Crafty a week ago and have used it a half dozen or so times now. I like it a lot, but I have never been able to use it at temperatures higher than the 360-370's due to some weird vapor (potential off gassing?) being released.
The first time I cranked it into around the 380's or 390's I noticed after a while of the device being hot the vapor quality seemed to get extremely unpleasant. I am not a person who can notice taste much when smoking/vaping, but I could feel a harsh presence in my chest and throat after a few big hits. I subconsciously told myself not to use the Crafty on temperatures higher than 370 after this because I just started to feel terrible. Just chest tightness, pressure, the urge to try to cough, feeling light and odd in the head, etc...
At first I really didn't think much about it and just wrote it off as harsh vapor. Then now after having the Crafty for a week I've noticed this unpleasantness every time I get the unit pretty hot - like only if I go above 363-365 degrees. So finally the other night I said fuck it and decided to turn the Crafty up to 410 degrees F (it's max) with a clean empty bowl. I took the cooling unit off and watched slight visible vapor periodically come from this spotless bowl.
So afterwards I videotaped a couple friends hitting the empty Crafty briefly (for safety reasons this couldn't go on long) to see the vapor clouds. Video can be seen here:
Needless to say I haven't used the device since...

I am almost 100% certain this isn't off gassing, as the same thing happened to me.
What you have described is called "ghosting" a bowl...
What you are experiencing is a build up of oil/reclaim (condensation of vapor) in the cooling unit (top part you unscrewed).
Once enough oil builds up in the cooling unit, and you run it at a high enough temperature, you will will start vaporising the oil/reclaim. The harder/longer you pull hot air through it, the more it will vaporise it.
It can impart a slight flavour/harshness to your high temp vaping.
Follow the manual and clean your cooling unit and you will see all the oil build up. See if this resolves the issue.
I personally heat up the cooling unit with the hot air from a hair-dryer (or my volcano lol) and then use a dab tool to scoop it all up (it's easier to scoop when warm)...
Then I put the scooped up reclaim on a crafty oil pad or my volcano oil pad... And run it at the highest temp.
It's a bit harsh but I usually run it through a bubbler.
The crafty is the easiest of all my vapes to reclaim (I don't like ISO reclaim), it's like having a free session every week!
I use the fine screen for my cooling unit, to keep the oil/reclaim clean (it makes a HUGE difference to taste).
This I what I use to scrape my reclaim as it has the best edge that is not too sharp as to scrape the cooling unit plastic.

Thanks so much for all the information! The built up oil makes sense as oil/wax is known to cause my COPD to act up (especially resin/reclaim dabs) , thus explaining the chest tension I get and light headedness that goes alongside these high temp sessions.
I cleaned out the CU a couple days ago, but I didn't really notice much gunk built up. I'll go examine it closer in bright lights to see what I can find. I'll probably try heating up the Crafty to warm up the CU before scraping it.
I'll report back when I can, thanks again!
