Growing forums

Which growing forums do the growers of FC frequent please?

Do you know of any that don't censor their users posts?

I have been a member of a couple so far but they always seem to have issues with links to other sites due to mainly financial reasons and i hate that. Are their any uncensored growers forums out there?

Iv got to know some of the cultivators on here, although we can't talk in open thread, pm is all good.

Feel free to PM me if your looking for any advice or just someone to share info with...

a lot of the grower forums, especially 420magazine, are so tied up with sponserss that it makes discussing anything very difficult. throw in some Nazi mods and ridiculous rules, and you have a shit pit of company shills & fanbois just waiting to get butthurt over anything..

I wish we could have a cultivation thread on here...

No where else on the Web can i find such a good community as fc...

I would love to be able to discuss my favourite hobby with intelligent, like minded individuals, that I only seem to find here....

Oh well rules are rules and I'm sure there is good reason we cant have a 'cultivation for vaping' thread....

It's something I have always teased with, and my VAS has slowed down... Might look at the dank den!
Also on a side note, been a part hunting/firearm forums that have either had server crashes and lost data or completely disappeared. Anyone know what sort of money it would cost to have everything from FC in some sort of cloud?

Yeah I don't waste my time with auto's....

You get out what you put in with this flower...

You can make it as easy or as hard as you want, I have found I get beat results from being super anal about my climate...

And there is no substitute for quality genetics...

Depends, FC is a template forum software https://xenforo.com/ so there is the cost of that.

Dunno if they provide the hosting?

my DMO site cost @ £100 PA for the hosting, it's meant to have unlimited data / storage, so I don't have any issues with all the MP3's I have to store and provide for download, but as I am a programmer, I do all the coding myself, which saves a fortune!

I'm sure for @ $1000 buck a year, you could run a forum including software costs and hosting.

But that doesn't account for the man hours of the selfless people who run the site and moderate it as well as take part.

Some things you cant put a price on!

N.B. The internet is the cloud, and web servers are already in it, don't get fooled by some stupid buzz word for stuff we have already been doing for many years before MS and others coined the phrase 'The Cloud'

People even try to sell me and the missus (she's in IT also for solicitors) our own 'private cloud'... err you mean our own on-site servers like we already have...idiots!

$1000 a year?! Much less unless the site is really blowing up.

I ran a smaller forum using vBulletin a few years back and paid less than $100 per year for hosting and domain. For a moderately popular site it probably will cost a bit more but I doubt it gets to $1000.

I gotta say, if FC content were backed up in third party cloud storage of any kind, I'd probably be leaving FC. Privacy and security is already enough to cause many of us regular panic attacks without having another place on the internet where our data (including posts, PM's, reports, whatever else) can be compromised.

P.S. An FC companion community for growing (probably should move extraction talk over there too really, given it carries similar risks) would be great! Perhaps the companion site for growers/extractors could be viewable to members only too to increase security?

Grasscity... Solid information, but lots of misinformation and WAYYY too many kids. (Or 2 mny kdz)

Rollitup..More solid information, but a lot of arrogance and trolling.

Toke City.. Seems like a bunch of long time members that stroke one another's egos.

ICMAG, LOTS of great info, some bs one has to weed through. The mods + Sponsers thing can easily get one banned over there. Most members of OG are refugees over at ICMAG.

I have not been on over there in a while, it's hard to establish yourself, but once you do get some "Rep" they are more likely to help.

Stoner Haven...
Awesome little community!!! One of my best friends was a mod over there.

THC Farmer Similar to ICMAG... Sponsers, Big Timers, hard to get the "pros" to help a "noob"

I used to frequent all those boards daily...and I'd much much prefer to read books and documents and learn through trial and error.

But, if the peeps in this community were to start a smaller Forum, I'd happily visit all the time.

I went and bought this book I think about 15 or 16 years ago. I was going to grow in my bedroom closet at my parents house. This was before medical laws were passed or anything... and it worked out about as well as you would expect. In any case, I read the book cover to cover, absolutely annihilated the information and always knew it was going to be something I pursued. It still has most of the basic information you would care to need in getting started, how to properly illuminate and ventilate, what to expect in vegetation and flowering, harvesting/curing methods etc.

Fast forward 7 or 8 years, I have my own apartment, finally a bit of spare money, and these new laws protecting me... So I just got started. I won't go into the details of course. I mostly relied on my previous knowledge, but I browsed the online resources extensively at this time. Back 7 or 8 years ago, I would have said that hand's down, rollitup was where all the good resources were/are. Even subcool has/had a subforum there, and a few other breeders were/are around so you could stay abreast of what the cutting edge of genetics was getting into.

Then the nutrient companies came in imo. Then hydrofarm/sunlight supply etc... Now it's all about pushing some products and encouraging new growers to utilize a particular nutrient line.

So I switched to Youtube for information/entertainment.

I already know a lot about how to grow, now I like seeing what other growers are up to, seeing where I can refine my techniques.

Coincidentally, I also feel this is also the best way to learn. Lots of good guys out there. My favorite set-up so far would probably be something similar to what this guy is doing:

I think this guy's channel is very informational as well: Dutchman's Medical Marijuana (lots of neat and useful tips for getting started.)

I check in on VaderOG, medicropper, medgrower1, Mr. Tight's Home Grown Report, and a few other weed-tubers as well, but they are more about telling you what's going on in their garden, and then also sprinkle in useful information, especially if you are running flood and drain or DWC, which I do not, but think they are neat. I also find that it helps seeing how these folks deal with their issues. Ignore their nutrient/nutrient programs. Find your own way there. Learn what each component in a fertilizer does what, and then decide how you might like to incorporate what into your set-up.

Anyways, sorry for the essay.

Hope it helps someone.

£600 PA to host, program, maintain, manage, register etc is nothing, it's £10 a week!

And I was being generous (under promise - over deliver) ;)

Unless of course you can get everyone involved to work for nothing, but good luck with that.

If you check generic stats for FC (the OP asked about cost for running FC, not any ole site)

Fuckcombustion.com is ranked 70,435th in the world (amongst the 30 million domains). A low-numbered rank means that this website gets lots of visitors. This site is relatively popular among users in the United States. It gets 70.8% of its traffic from the United States
us.png
. This site is estimated to be worth $26315. This site has a good Pagerank(3/10). It has 36 backlinks. Fuckcombustion.com has 50% seo score.

You don't have a domain worth $26k by spending $100 PA!

Only FC know the actual visitor stats, but I bet they get 10's of 1,000's of visitors a month, if you can find hosting for a site that receives this much traffic, pays the cost for the domain name registration, pays for the template software and support contract and employs a bunch of people to run it, with $100 PA, you are a better person than me, and I would like to offer you a job ;)

Edit: also if you do an nslookup you will get IP 107.161.26.191 , if you then reverse lookup, you will see that it isn't a shared hosting server, seattle.fuckcombustion.com looks to me like dedicated possibly VPS.

Please do tell me where you can get VPS / dedicated hosting for that $100PA, because I need some.

Most forums (including this one) are staffed by volunteers- members who have been around a while and are willing to police and do cleanup on aisle 3 while still retaining posting privileges.
