next generation e-nails?

Whilst I do not agree with the domeless.com ceramic tasting better than SiC (and I have extensively used both too and will agree they taste quite similar), the domeless.com ceramic is what I recommend to everybody wanting something cheaper over China Ti/quartz - mostly in other threads. I haven't really mentioned it here because it is not something I would consider next-gen.

till, I really do recommend that people looking for something cheap to get into the dabbing game should give these a shot, gonna beat the pants off of the taste of ti/cheap quartz.
14/18mm male & female compatible with fully ceramic airway and compatibility with a bunch of different carb caps and digital controllers seems fairly next gen to me. Edit: especially when considering the title and op are discussing next gen enails after the failed HE enail.

Don't get me wrong. The SiC halo is better for flavorful big dabs for sure but if I have some super terpy oil I like turning the temp way down and doing some smaller dabs off a clean domeless.com nail with an iDab carb cap

All ceramic nails have been around since before I even got into dabbing man. Ain't nothing much new about them. I agree that they are the greatest option of the last gen, but they certainly aren't cutting edge.

SiC also will taste better if you drop the temp and do smaller dabs too ;) SiC definitely tasted better than domeless.com ceramic when I used both IME.

Still, neither can hold a candle to the sapphire halo which is why I do not spend much time dabbing on either the SiC or on Domeless.com ceramic nails. SiC is basically only used with torches on rare occasions.

Hey tell me, does the SiC halo fit on that domeless.com base??? This could be a ceramic/SiC option for enail use if so! The threads look very similar!

@MileHighLife is there enough threads on that domeless nail to get a regular flat heater under it and still screw on the retainer? keeping in mind i do have that new coil coming from amazon...

Really? They came out early 2014. I thought you'd been dabbing longer than that. Again, remember the op is referencing next gen after the failed he enail ... making the entire market next gen.

If we take the a fixed view of next gen being after the OP then fair call  anything is next-gen by that standard lol

Na man I have been dabbing for 1.5 years or so. I got in late, fast and completely DIY :D

I used a domeless.com back before the pukinbeagle deep dish banger even came out, back when my other enail was a 20mm DI PB quartz nail. I got the domeless.com with the 20mm coil adapter (which took FOREVER to heat up lol, it is an outstanding carb stand for the universal Dnail 2.0 caps though only thing I'll ever put a hot carb down on!) a little before they came out brand new.

BTW man could you check if the halo fits on the domeless.com base? Those threads for the dish on the domeless.com base look like they're the same thread! :D

That would be a nice ceramic airway.
Not that I've found anything distasteful about the V1.3 or slimline Ti bases.
Oh man I would get one just for my new sandblasted/worked black and white ball rig so that it matched the colours of the piece fully (hell even the sapphire halo is white :D ). Color coordinated dabs are a must girlfriend!

They are close in threading but totally different design and assembly

Sorry ... yeah there's plenty of threads even for the Auber coil. I use mine with flat coils all the time including the domeless.com coil which is super thick and it fits fine with extra threading.

now your just showing off ^^^

haha nice i also use a petri dish with round parchment paper as a dab dish
We can have a little fun in here, right? I had forgotten that I'd even had that adapter in my glass box until earlier today when I came across it and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try it out for the first time. I also have a claisen adapter in there so I'm gonna rig up a 3 way one of these days

I chose the Gimido Elite Dabs enail w/ flat coil ($227.90 shipped DHL).
@darkrom

I've been doing a lot of thinking about everyone's comments since I made my Gimido purchase and can't seem to shake the feeling that I'm going to regret my decision in the future. I just noticed that my Gimido hadn't processed yet and decided to stop ignoring my intuition and canceled the order. I told my hands they were going to do the work, otherwise I would cut them off (injured hands), and I'm going to go ahead and order the D-Nail DIY Control Station kit along with their extended life flat coil. I would have ordered the whole DIY kit, but sadly I already purchased the Slim Base w/ SiC ($115). I regret that decision as this whole package together is now going to cost me more $$!

My only concern is with the PID. Gimido claims their LCD's drop only 2-3 degrees max while dabbing (one of the reasons I initially went with them). I don't know if that's exaggerated (I'm sure one of you will tell me), but I couldn't find specs on D-Nails site to compare the two PID's. I don't know specs on heat-up, overshoot, or during dab temp drop. I hope it's similar to the Gimdo PIDs on paper specs and doesn't drop temp 10-15 degrees while dabbing. :D

I can't speak of the Gimido but the D-Nail 1.2 will only drop about 5 degrees during a big dab while both the basic high5 and auber drop around 15 degrees before starting to catch back up.

Thanks. Just got a reply from D-Nail. The custom shop told me that their controller is the most stable on the market. Also that a claim of only dropping 2-3 degrees, especially when using a carb cap, is both rather general and unlikely.

Even cooler, they took into account that I had just purchased the Slim and SiC and took money off my kit price so that in the end it was like I had bought the whole DIY kit from the get go and I didn't loose a cent (+$30 for Sic upgrade)! I'm not done yet!! I also got a free upgrade to the XL heater due to some confusion and a disagreement with one of the general customer service reps (though honestly, I'm guilty myself of getting mad and I made the situation worse, so it's not like I had some rude crazy rep or I'm a Saint [I did apologize so hopefully I'm not too much of a jerk] so that was way cool of them!

Somehow I don't think I'm going to get a better deal than this so I'm absolutely grabbing it! I feel like it's Christmas all over again!

Maybe I'll even get lucky and the High5 Vape Branded iDab Carb/Dabber I purchased will turn out to be the upgraded version that works with the SiC!

I Personally own an Enail that's similar to the high end Gimodo, but i'm almost 100% certain your D-nail will be every bit as nice (or nicer) than the Gimodo. Either way I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

A few degrees for the Gimido sounds right and it recovers quickly if it drops. I'm using a cheaper PID now as a temp and it's way more inaccurate and slower to hit the target temp so there's definitely some variance in performance out there. I think in real life situations you won't notice a difference with D-Nail but it should maintain the temp better than most others, I believe they also use the most expensive PID in theirs, it's $100-150 to buy it by itself.

If you run into any troubles physically assembling it, you can PM me and we can work out shipping if you want, I had a blast, I'd do it for free and ship it back :)

I'm sure there is someone closer to you who can do it (if not you yourself still), but if not hey the offer is always on the table. I think you'll be really impressed with the quality. Maybe more so once you see some of the competition in person. Lets just say my DIY d-nail is quite the upgrade over the unit I bought before.

Kinda Long, Sorry! I listed my custom buildout plans for the D-Nail and asked a question @ the end.

Thank You! That's an incredibly kind offer and it means a lot that you would so willingly help! I actually did some test trials before deciding, and with the aid of a bit of extra morphine and all of our best friend, Jane, I think I can pull it off (though some of the miniature accessories may take some extra time & work). If not I have a local friend who is skilled enough that I can walk him through it (not that it's actually very hard). I don't think it will come to that though. Thank you again, I truly do appreciate it!

Making my own: custom, Next-Gen (I would think so anyway) D-nail.

I've altered my original plans and decided that I'm going to build the parts into a modded Mac Mini case (not the newer ultra thin case). I have a few ideas for accessories and I'm still tinkering with some unique options (no comment on them for now) so this could be fun, though take a bit of time.

I'm going to hook up the USB ports to charge phones, tablets, and accessories. I could find a reason to add Wi-Fi but honestly that seems like a bit much and kinda silly, though it would be amusing to tell people "my D-nail is online." If I did that (unlikely) It would stay on my private network. I could even include a Raspberry PI to create a web based GUI on the D-Nail that gave status or lists owner and model specs (maybe even allowed operation, but honestly that's a lot of extra work and a bit more money for something I would likely hardly or never use).

I will also probably add LED's to the bottom edge of the case (hidden) or underneath to create a halo effect. Maybe i'll even light up the apple logo?! I'm still deciding if I want to make the LED's programmable &/or multi-colored. Though the novelty of the effect would probably wear off quickly, it would be interesting, for example, if a ring of LED's around the bottom of the case or underneath in a halo pattern, glowed red when I was dabbing or was green when at set temp.

I wish I could use the Mac's power plug and cord but the step-down is in the cable and the smaller thin cable from the step-down to the computer very likely can't handle the load for the unit. I can hopefully however use the power button and power light in the front. I haven't seen the Mac yet so I don't know how "Apple Engineered" the power switch is. If it's like newer stuff I will just about need a micro-soldering station! I got a (eBay): decent looking & working 1st-Gen Intel Mac Mini $16, shipped. Talk about a cheap custom case!

:hmm: So I have a question on how I'm going to set things up if someone wouldn't mind please giving me your opinion! I've only seen one or two enail units for sale that actually have the heater plug on the back of the unit. Is there a reason, other than easier access for plugging-in and removing the heater, or taking up less room on the table, that just about every enail controller has the heater plug on the front of the case right next to the PID? I want the front of the case to look sleek. I'm putting the PID there along with a timer and potentially something else, but I'm planning to put the heater plug in the back. Thanks for any help!

Thanks, it sounds like I likely would have been Happy with the Gimido LCD but I'm still Happy I switched to the D-Nail! You listed some additional reasons that make me Happy, so I'm Happy I did decide canceling my Gimido order wasn't to much of a hassle and followed through rather than just accepting my first choice. I'm lot's of Happy!

I don't think plug placement matters, most designs out there just copy D-Nail's which I think is why that's the predominant configuration.

Got my new Gimido 5-pin XLR model, it was shipped DHL and arrived in only 5 days from Shenzhen, China. It's the same as my last one except for the plug and it's missing a heater cutoff switch due to it. If I ever need to monitor the temp as it drops (ie for cleaning or travel) I'll just set the temp below 80F. Only other difference is the front and back plates are black instead of a single colour throughout (it's blue on the other 4 sides) and a couple of the buttons are a bit fiddly but it's a minor annoyance.

I also placed my D-Nail order today for the extended life flat coil, I'm 99% sure it will work fine but I'll confirm for everybody once it comes in. Also decided to try out the slim series base partly because it looks cool and partly to have extra parts.
