I have the new honey hole carb cap from CCA is love the fact that it sit on more properly than the original which would be hard to use with one hand unless You Left RIG On Table .
.it doesn't sealing or stay independently so you'd need that hand to hold carb in place. While exhaling the vacuum holds it on but even flat the cap kinda wobbles as you quit pulling air and the swirling turbulence created by the dual angled holes out lasts the suction. But where the new cap has better convieniece it falls short of the storm cap in performance..... first off not enough airflow only one hole on the handle and while yes it's still angled but I think that's actually pointless . I think that the the path it has to travel through the handle before reachinges the vapor dish prevent any kina initial directional force as well as logically thinking the really heart and soul of why the storm cap performs so fantastically is the DUAL OPPOSITE ANGLED HOLES which cause such dramatic swirling of air in the dish if you know the basic

I love the storm cell! I've been using it on dome nails recently with great results. I definitely want to try the honey hole out too, though. Have you adjusted the dabber so that the threaded end is resting a mm or so above the dabbing surface in your Liger when the cap is on? That should help with vapor production a bit. I was thinking that option will be great for dome nails as well as we'll be able to have the air intake right inside the nail head.

what is this cca honey hole carb cap you speak of I dont see that anywhere on cca website?

thx

I saw someone mention a new cap in the works a page or two back so I sent CCA an email. Looks like a couple of other people also inquired about it. The response explained a new cap that would be available in the near future. The cap is based on the stormcap design, but with dabbing while capping being the primary use. The response Josh from CCA provided was very detailed and I would gladly go further into the design, but I'm not quite sure how appropriate that would be. If I'm not mistaken, I've read something to the effect of disclosing private emails being frowned upon(Without the consent of both parties anyway). I believe the conversation we had via email would fall under that. Your best bet would be to send them an email. Josh was very quick getting back to me and seemed more than open about discussing his new design.

I've had my eye on this carb-cap for awhile now, and I just pulled the trigger:

I hope it mates well with the D-Nail Halos.

I doubt that it will work as well as the V2 D-Nail carb-caps, since those are designed to fit ~ exactly, but it's just sooooo damn pretty.

I will update upon arrival.

Yea I've put the cap through extenst extensive side by side testing I feel like sthat the gone hole is so restrictive that the length and power of draw it takes to clear anything over .02 and the temperature seems to drop too low to vaporize before you finish I think the honey hole might be acting as too effective of a heat dissipation. Kinda like the way any carb cap steals heat from a nail causing a temp drop well the honey hole doesn't allow the temperature to rise back up its cools it's self and simultaneously pulls heat off your nail....not to mention no coil contact to try combat the increased cooling. That combined with the restrictive draw that makes it a requirement to take a series of long slow inhales rather than finishes it all in one and I'm having to turn my temperature up to almost 800 to make it through a dab with out the temperature dropping to a point producing hardly a wisp of vapor then having to stop and wait for temp to to catch up all while watching my shatter slowly kinda turn to a particularly thick greasy char at the bottom of my banger as it slow cooks ...... basically great concept but need a lot of reworking to get a adequately performing product....really wish Josh had just machined the storm cap to sit in place .....should not fix what's not broken the design of the storm cap nearly flawless the only little demerit was the stability....the air flow was amazing but for some reason guess he felt the need to provide options...but in my opinion is pointless when the choice is between one of the poorest performing cappreciate and one of top performing ....

Ummm..... well see i guess he sorta made me beta tester of sorts....I first got a hold of Josh to ask a few questions which quickly became me basically giving him my thoughts and opinions and a few suggestions related to the turtle banger ,Liger ,and carb cap he mentioned that a new cap design in the works saying he like my input on it and we'll a few weekS later I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email saying he was sending me a new cap with tracking info ....I assumed it would be the improved storm carb cap ...... I'm actually just now realizing he hasn't started open sales of the new design.... Although I have no reservations about sharing any conversation I've had with Josh about his products... I informed him in our first contact that I was an active member of this forum and was intending on sharing any and all of my observations and opinions about his products and services .

I was told it wouldn't be out for a bit and like you mentioned there's nothing on the site yet, but @Gonzo_da_wind seems to have one already.

Edit:
That makes sense now. I was starting to wonder because what Gonzo described didn't quite sound like what was described to me. It seems he took some of your suggestions to heart @Gonzo_da_wind!

My coil's borderline unusable now so I'm using my quad coil from my rosin setup until my new setup arrives Monday. Night and day difference and explains why it's been harder to keep my nail clean since it's been failing for a few weeks and not heating as well.

@Monsoon & @MileHighLife

After a ton of reading I ended up going with D-Nail's Slim Series paired with their SiC Halo [w/discounts: $115.15, shipped]. I'm going to try an insert in the future, though if I love dabbing on the SiC surface as much as I'm told I will that may not be any time soon. I also picked up the iDab from High5 Vape as well [$30.86, shipped w/ their logo, out of iDab logo]. I'm going to give that combo a shot and hope it fits! If not no biggie, I'll likely end up getting a D-Nail, or other compatible flat coil (correctly wired of course) next month. I'm also going to get the 3-Piece Ceramic Nail (no slot) and Dab Cap from Domeless.com sometime next month (unless the Slim Series doesn't fit my Gimido then I'll get this ceramic nail immediately for use until I get a new SiC/SlimSeries compatible flat coil). It will also be a good backup and something to use on a different piece. I really appreciate you both taking the time to answer my questions and help me out! I'm looking forward to trying my new toys!

On a side note, I got a reply from the GM in the Custom Shop at D-Nail and it sounds like they are willing to work with me on purchasing an extended life flat coil for my Gimido. I'm not expecting and am sure I won't be offered a normal warranty, but I now believe I'm going to be given a DOA warranty! I have to provide them with Gimido's pin-out diagram which I found on Gimido's website. I was under the impression that Gimido & D-Nail were both wired the same and the Gimido pin-out diagram confirmed this. Still, I emailed Gimido just to be sure.

One last issue with the honey hole cap Unlike the original storm cap which had a simple flat spatula like dabber tip the honey hole came with two options
One being what I've heard called a cookie cutter and then the otlher a angled scoop resembling a straw cut at a 45 degree angle....the cookie cuter tip has yet to function at a acceptable performance level....and have almost entirely abandoned it....the central issue is that the shapes of these tips are to complex. It hard to position dab in such a way that it melt off the tip instead of up it...the scoop works you position dab stick to the lip of it. If you put dab in the scoop like area it just runs up the tube the cookie cutter havin flat round hollow end makes it so your dab is able to make little to no contact with the bottom of dish while make a whole lot more contact with the dabber so you have to wait for tip to get hot enough to melt the dab off which honestly don't happen unless you over fill the thing other wise entire .2- .4 dabs have ran up the hollow handle . basically I Feel everything that's right with the storm cap is wrong with the honey hole....I feel like the simplicity of the the function of the storm cap in being able to complete what was previously two separate motions involved into one that doesn't just make it a bit easier of a physical action to do but is more efficient and effective out than any other separate carb cap and dabber combo you have to /can purchase individually

How are those idab glass carb dabbers with cap?

I have the quartz halo dish.

Since dnail doesn't have their famous carb cap, would this be a good substitute?

DrSteez,
This may have changed but when I tried the that ceramic nail with the Gimido flat coil, it wouldn't fit through the center of the coil.
Thanks for this info! I emailed Domeless.com this morning to ask about compatibility. They may not know, so I'll research before pulling the trigger.

They must've changed the design because the center post (for lack of a better name) on the DTi (domeless.com) nail is thinner than the D-Nail/HE threading. I've used the 710 whip like twice but use the DTi nail pretty regularly and it works with any of my flat coils.

They don't fit over the D-Nail halos. The lip of the iDab cap mates right up with the D-Nail halo's lip so while it does work it's not optimal. The Hive universal carb cap works well with the halos but not as well as the D-Nail cap as it doesn't lock onto the halo dish or create a vortex like the D-Nail caps do.

Well that potentially sucks, I ordered the iDab for just that use yesterday! I found a few websites selling it where they specifically state that it's compatible. They didn't say anything about it not being ideal or just barely being able to cover the Halo's. How is the seal when you use it?

Did it say it's compatible with the d nail halos? If so that's awesome cause I contacted iDab a while back asking them if they'd alter the design to work with halos and the dude said he'd look into it. If they did I need to get me one. The seal isn't great using my iDab cap with halos as the lip on the carb cap isn't perfectly flat.

FYI the D-Nail halos are 27mm

Yeah, I found two that specifically said they fit D-nail's SiC. When mine arrives I will take a pic and post. Keep in mind that I ordered a "High5 Vape" branded iDab so who knows how many they had or how long they've had them for, could be the older version if they were changed. I didn't realize there was a difference until now, none of the descriptions anywhere mentioned anything about versions or updated designs.

Have you tried unwinding your coils with a flat head screwdriver?

I had to do this to make my coils fit the domeless.com nails
I didn't want to try that in fear of damaging my coil. The SiC nail was my solution :) I never use my domeless.com ceramic nail anymore. The stay on carb cap idea is one of my favorites though.

I second this. The domeless.com nail would not work with my Gimido flat coil either.
I was wondering why the domeless.com nails weren't more popular in this thread as I personally think the flavor is superior to the SiC and quartz halos. I was also wondering why the hole on the ceramic heating element for the 710 whip was so large ... must've been to fit an older iteration of the domeless.com nail. Here's a pic of the current dish piece of the domeless.com nail next to a slim series base

Whilst I do not agree with the domeless.com ceramic tasting better than SiC (and I have extensively used both too and will agree they taste quite similar), the domeless.com ceramic is what I recommend to everybody wanting something cheaper over China Ti/quartz - mostly in other threads. I haven't really mentioned it here because it is not something I would consider next-gen.

Still, I really do recommend that people looking for something cheap to get into the dabbing game should give these a shot, gonna beat the pants off of the taste of ti/cheap quartz.
