how's the ssv kit coming?
Farther along than expected. What I needed, I didn't find pre-made, so having pieces created. Roughly guessing I may receive what I need to put kits together in approx two weeks, but again, rough guess on the date.

To set expectations properly, this kit will be centered around the 18mm ground glass heater cover.

@DDave dumb question incoming. Looking at these two listings and dunno which one I need for my DBV:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-DDave-D...842098?hash=item1c5e0aac72:g:k38AAOSwIwhWSl9i

http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-DDave-D...022187?hash=item1c5e68f96b:g:k38AAOSwIwhWSl9i

I assume the second one is to attach to a bubbler/water pipe; I want to use it with my D020 bubbler:
http://www.dhgate.com/product/d020-bubbler-hand-blown-glass-vase-perc-water/175832535.html

I already have an adapter that looks like this, except that the bottom end is male and plugs into the top of the D020, while the smaller end connects to the whip:
http://dabuddhavaporizer.com/index....ss/adapters/gog-solid-water-pipe-adapter.html

So any ideas which one I should purchase, and if the second one, which one of the 'water tool adapters' I should request?

@darius

No problem. Would suggest this one...with 18mm water tool adapter. From the pieces you already have, both will work. The second kit gets you an extra water tool adapter.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-DDave-D...022187?hash=item1c5e68f96b:g:k38AAOSwIwhWSl9i

The adapter is similar to the one you have, but is a straight passthrough.

@DDave - you are one fast shipper. Arrived safe and sound this morning. I really appreciate your turnaround on orders. Tried a quick test, and I GOTTA! say it works great. Dialed to just shy of 11oclock and maybe .05 (if that) in the wand at least 10 nice wispy hits. Might have been even in a smaller amount. So I like it , a lot. One question - The basket rim isn't flush on the wand. I didn't know if I should push further but it's in there and holding and there might be a 1mm gap?

@stuartambient,
For shipping times, thanks! One thing I disliked about eBay was buying something and then checking tracking daily to find out each day that the item hadn't shipped... Was very disappointing. I endeavour not to do the same!

The baskets are made to fit snugly. They'll shape to fit with use. There will be little to no air slipping by the ring due to the mesh of the basket sides riding the wall of the wand.

So after a few days with the @DDave LSV kit w/ 18MM WPA & Whip attachment I must say I am thoroughly satisfied. The LSV is a beast. This was true before the mod kit and it's true after the mod kit. What this kit does very well is tame this beast. This kit makes the LSV easier to use and much more efficient. It really gives the user more control than the OEM accessories IMO.

I propose a new nickname for @DDave - El Matador.

The kit does everything it claims, and very well. I find the OEM direct draw LSV wand to be too large and clunky and prior to getting this mod kit I was only really using my LSV with my D-020D w/ 18mm m2m.
The kit's direct draw wand and elbow screens are a vast improvement. The combination of the closer proximity to the heater and the small screen size allow for huge clouds from miniscule amounts. I think the more powerful heater might make this more efficient than a log. If not more efficient, certainly as efficient.

The WPA is a huge improvement over the DHgate 18mm m2m I was using. With the elbow screens being in close proximity to the heater, I don't have to pull nearly as hard. I get huge clouds with half the effort.

I'm not a big fan of whip vapes, but the whip attachment is pretty legit. It cools the vapor and allows for HUGE hits. I could dead a packed screen in one hit with this whip.

So this kit has given me the added capability of direct draw, the added capability of direct draw with whip and it's vastly improved water hits with the WPA & screens in closer proximity to the heater.

Good shit El Matador. Thank You.

Nice write-up and review!!! You nailed it on all fronts!

It's all about giving you control over your vapes! Efficiency and options!

I'm liking the new name too!

You sold me.
He sold me too! Seriously!

My apologies for not being around here lately guys, pain levels have been absurd.

If you're still considering getting the mod, pull the trigger!

I'm currently working some new rhymes, entitled....

"Mod God"

It will be to the rhythm of either....

"Rap God" by Eminem

Or

"Severe Punishment " by Wu-Tang
This will be my "Thank You " to @DDave for his brilliant mod(s) and his HUGE heart ....
Not only super intelligent, but truly cares about everything/everyone on this board.

I'm so happy and honored to be a member of FC, what an awesome community!!

This kit makes for complete and total control over every variable involved with Vaporization.

I've made some very bold and robust comments regarding this kit.
I.e. Now, my DBV can/could possibly compete with the High Dollar Vaporizers on the market.

It gets better and better with each use, as you and your Vape become "one" once again.

Hash/Concentrate users.....

WOW!!!!!!!!! Wow...... And Wow....
I'm so happy with the mod...... It has almost completely changed my VAS.

As I can now obtain various vapor signatures from a single vaporizer, Winning!!!!

Again, my hat goes off to @DDave , ingenuity at its finest!

Triple post! Ha

I just got the @DDave LSV kit in the mail. All parts were there and it shipped quickly! Thanks Dave!

I admit I got this kit primarily for the WPA. Holy shit I've had three monster rips off a fully packed bowl and it hit me like a train....like an OG Kush train to the face! Much easier to milk the vapor.
My fourth hit I combusted slightly :zombie:....i just soaked all pieces and screens in iso, now
I'm going practice today with lower temps and different draw speeds to lock the power hits in. :D

I'll update more later but so far so good.

@I'm Ron Burgundy? Thanks for confirming the kit arrived safely!

Glad you're liking the performance it provides.... An OG Kush train to the face! Sounds awesome!

Enjoy!

@DDave based on a post earlier in this thread, I assume the way to put the screen on is at the very end of the wand (where it's pretty much touching the heater when you put it in) with the basket side in, and then load the herb in the basket?

That's how I did it earlier, and nothing caught on fire :) Is this designed to be one hit per basket, or possible to squeeze out more (DBV)?

@darius

Yes, you list the correct way to put the basket into the wand, as well as loading the herb into the baskets. It's also correct that I was going for single-hit extractions with this mod.

Reasoning behind that:
- that one hit (or possibly a couple more) would be flavorful
- to better control dosing.

If more hits are desired, you can reload the wand and get another flavorful hit.

I am working on V2 and can take into consideration heavier loads if there's enough feedback in that direction.

Ya, would love to have a super-sized one. I'd definitely buy another kit for that :)

BTW: You say in the instructions to let the vape heat up for 15 minutes or so? Does this apply to the DBV, or was that meant for one of the other vapes specifically?

:science: & :sherlock: = now thinking on larger-load adaption for mod.

For the heat-up time, was targeting consistency of performance so that you could reload possibly for others (or yourself :ko:) and get same results for each load.

Principles of an oven, for example, when used for decarbing herb. Set to desired temp. When the oven first reaches this temp, it's only due to heat spike. It truly reaches stable temperature after several heat cycles, when everything reaches target temperature. Most accurate decarb session is achieved through a heat-stabilized session.

So same principle applied when developing the mod. Stability in as many parameters as possible yields consistent results.

Possibly a larger basket screen like the Evo uses in the wand and packed loosely for a longer session. I don't have any evo basket screens or I'd give it a good test. I'll look into picking a few up shortly and give this test a try.
