I mean, could that not be a thing? Could you not find a way to contain all the vapor and condense it ? I mean on a larger scale, just before anyone says "yeah, use a bong"

Sounds like a possibly simple way for solvent-less concentrate but I honestly don't know...

Or would there not be much to gain from that ?

I've been thinking about this a lot and I also believe this to be a way to obtain solventless plant extraction. I have a cold trap I plan to use at some point to experiment with this technique by connecting my vapexhale cloud evo into it. It should create a very aromatic yet fully decarboxylated oil, making it have the characteristic sappy consistency... "the clear"

also should exceed 90% cannabinoid content aswell

Like, convection heat source creating vapor and then catching all over the vapor and turning it into oil again?

Apparently this is how some extract companies make "the clear". Personally I think it being solventless is kinda outweighed by the fact that it is missing terpenes and other cannabinoids. Apparently the taste is bad most of the time too though some extract companies claim to have it nailed and that theirs tastes fine (though they may be using different tech).

Is this how they are making the new inhalers like the invisidab**not a vape its disposable *** . By berner. It has no smell and comes out in a mist like a nebulizer. I'd really like to figure out the tech behind that one.

Hey, you should check out the Sublimator.

My Sublimator vaporizer creates a great deal of pure air collected concentrate as a byproduct of all the bowls I vape.

The Sublimator sits in a 'sub-buddy' which has a removable collection chamber for easy oil collection, and the sub-buddy sits in my bubbler.

As you vape your herb, the oil created - known as Sublimate - gradually drips into the collection chamber, is very dark golden in colour, & takes flavour from whatever strains you have been vaping.

I think that this sounds similar to what you are suggesting, except with the Sublimator, the intention is to inhale all of the vapor and receive the oil as a byproduct of the vaporization process.

But I guess you are thinking on a much larger scale, & with oil collection being the primary goal instead of a byproduct.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw my thoughts into the mix . . . . .

Yeah it's definitely the same concept but you sure gotta work for it :p

I'd be a sublimate slave if anyone wanted me to make them their oil for them :lol:

Get a whole production going, large scale, just a bunch of people vaping for hours straight collecting sublimate.

IN THE FUTURE. This will be currency. :freak:
 
my thoughts are their would be a difference between a vaporized and fully recondensed oil vs the distillate from a sublimator.

Terpene's are super volatile and my guess is the distillate from a sublimator would have less terps due to the amount of hot air blowing through it but therefore a higher cannabinoid content.

Whereas if cannabis is being vaporized and fully recondensed it should be more full spectrum... just my opinion

you also can collect oil woth nano ... as far as I understand it is collectet in the stems and gongs... vapor gets trough cooling from the glass from gas form into a solid form aka oil... you can scrape it of the glass with the epic or an other longer metal....

@Jeffrey Dabs pretty sure that the temperature required to distill thc and terpenes are different and they must be separated independently. Too low and you won't get enough thc and too high and you destroy the terpenes. The terpenes I have seen online are typically clear liquid and thc distillate is gooey and gold to amber. You see people dipping it into terpenes but why not just use a solvent and get the cannabinoids and terpenes together imo.

Just wanted to add that I am not a scientist. What you propose could be possible but I suspect that the yields and/or the effects wouldn't be the greatest without cranking the temperatures too high for the terpenes.

When I take a huge rip of a top shelf nug with my vapexhale cloud evo, the flavor is so strong it almost feels like the oily terpenes are coating the inside of my mouth.. it just makes sence to me that this flavorful vapor could be instead recondensed very quickly by utilizing dry ice or liquid nitrogen in some fashion. essential oils ie terpenes are typically isolated for use in aromatherapy/cosmetic use with steam distillation and the collection of those oils is made possible with low temperatures to recondense them. Unfortunately under the MMPR legal system it's difficult enough for me to afford my meds in the first place so I have yet to actually use my cold trap. I've been content with the rosin tech.
 
Everyone take this in to consideration.. The popular solvent free product known as thc distillate branded as The Clear. It is dewaxed and fully activated. They start off with food grade extracts and then using short path distillation purify and collect the cannabinoids. The simple explanation is taking a solvent or solventless extract and then winterize it to remove lipids. Once the ethanol is evaporated its going into a jar connected to another jar by short tube. One jar is heated to specific temperatures, the other jar sits in dry ice. Of course its a bit more complex because its done under vacuum to reduce boiling points with proper equipment. BUT in my opinion this is the same idea as we are discussing...

Checkout cyclingfrog on instagram. They add terps isolated from other plants like lavender ect. (this isnt studies for long term use) I would stick with cannabis terps, @blueriverextracts

distill the terpenes off first collecting them and then collecting the remaining cannabinoids and blending them back together. same plant same terps same cannabinoids just longer process.

Wow, cool. I guess you can get vapors to collect in specific layers within a vertical column due to the temperature differential as the vapor travels upward? So, similar to how you would reclaim solvent in a closed-loop extraction, I bet you could simply roto-vap and collect each component layer? I don't know if I get the idea correctly, but I think it would be very worth pursuing. If I only had the money. Makes sense that you could collect the actives and the terpenes separately, then recombine or re-invent as you see fit with the plants native components.

Solid chance it is either 1) CO2 extract (does that count as a solvent?) Which is unlikely because usually with non-polar C02 extraction, in my experience, some amount of polar solvent for winterization or dewaxing is necessary 2) more likely it is full melt bubble hash pressed into rosin

I am assuming it is in "shatter" form?
