Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

I think it might depend on what generation of quartz and boro nails you have. I believe the new quartz and boro nails are the same exact shape, the slits are just angled different between the two to tell them apart.

I know some of the original quartz nails had the rounded bottom. Some old nails had more of a "curved smile" slit, than the straight one on the current. Older nails also appear to have been fatter in diameter.
That's the one I have, it is spectacular. Thanks for warning me about the new ones.

Noooooo, say it ain't so :(
The rounded bottom of the quartz nails I've seen was one of the main reasons I wanted some.

Well, 1 week in and I can happily say that I am still a massive fan of the Evo.
- My stash does not agree, but that's not really young Evo's fault . . . .

I also don't think that I've ever liked the look & feel of plastic so much! The moulded, bare, mat black form of the Evo is awesome, as is the indented Vapexhale logo branding.

And direct power connection? No external PSU or powerpack? I am loving that. Hopefully it will not bite me down the road.

Another detail that I would like to focus on is the temp dial, which imo, has a really nice high quality feel to it. It's not, but it does almost feel weighted, and it reminds me of the dials you might find on quality audio equipment. I like it, right down to the knurling around the edge :)

Finally (for now), I think that the extremely light weight of this unit is a great plus, and it does not, at least for me, cheapen the feel or detract from it's value in any way. It is another thing which has been well thought out - it needs to be light.

Oh, and one more thing! ;) I think I recall reading that someone was not happy with the packaging of such a high end unit. And I would agree that it is not plush. But it is what it needs to be and it completely serves it's purpose. No fancy frills or plastic inserts here, thank fuck! :D Just minimal recyclable cardboard and a few little plastic baggies.

This is a classy device that does not require gimmicks.

More impressions still to come!

But for now, I hope you all have a fantastic, vapor cloud filled, New Year's celebration!

 :leaf:  :leaf:

Wishing you PeaceLoveÑHappiness in 2016.

Happy early new year, everyone! Came back from another tbreak into the warm arms of my Evo and it's been pure bliss. I do feel a bit bad, though: I had a friend come over the other day who generally does not smoke, but he saw me using the Evo and decided it looked fancy enough to give it a shot. I packed him a TINY BOWL (not even big enough to completely cover the bottom of the ELB) and instructed him to just draw for five seconds or so before lifting and clearing, figuring that would be a small enough amount for him to do one hit and see how he felt. Apparently not! My friend is a big guy (six foot, kind of hefty) and that tiny amount, with only one hit, was enough to knock him flat on his ass. I suspect it's because the Evo hits you like a train.

In a good way, I mean! Still, felt a little bad for my friend. If he wants to try again I might just let him use my Mighty instead, LOL.

In my opinion, if he got knocked flat on his ass with the EVO, he will most likely get knocked on his ass with the Mighty as well. The Mighty ain't no slouch when it comes to potent vapour... it's a touch behind the EVO in terms of potency in my opinion. I'll get higher off the EVO, but the difference is not as big as you would think.

Hey FC! First off, happy new year, I hope everyone is safe and has a great time.

Secondly, I made a BIG MISTAKE about the boro and quartz nails and how to tell the difference. I basically got it reversed.

The boro slit will go downwards from left to right.

The quartz slits will go upwards from left to right.

I have to publicly apologize to our support team for my mistake, I hope this clears things up for everyone.

As I mentioned earlier, I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year. Look forward to another awesome year.

Isn't that the same direction you posted earlier? Or was that not the mistake you meant?

The boro nails have the slit upward from left to right and the quartz slit is downward from left to right.

To confirm, the quartz nails go upward left to right, and the boro nails go downward left to right. Correct?

Happy New Year, can't wait to see what you have in store for us in 2016!

Happy New Year all!

My Quartz nails are pure horizontal slits. My glass one is / or \ can't recall off hand!

Stay safe!

Your quartz nails have the rounded bottom then, correct?

I've been speaking with CS at VXL and it seems around Aug/Sept 2015 is when they made the slits in different angles for the quartz/boro. It was also at this time the rounded bottoms for the quartz were phased out.

Apparently customers wanted the nails to be able to stand up on their own.

I was hoping to try one of the round bottom quartz, to see how it compares to the flat bottom of the boro. Was thinking the pooling and concentrating of the oil might be a good thing, but idk.

Roth - My apologies, I have updated my post with the correct directions.

The boro slit will go downwards from left to right.

The quartz slits will go upwards from left to right.

Lastly, I thought the rounded bottom would make a better puddle but during testing, we did not see a discernible difference so we went to the flat bottoms for a bit more storage/loading flexibility where it could stand on its own.

Excellent, appreciate the info, and trust your judgement on it!

@stonemonkey55
So have the slits in the nails been changed now due to the redesigning of the quartz?

I have a glass nail in front of me with a slit that goes upwards from left to right. /

Is there any way to tell and be sure of receiving new quartz and not old glass then if the they're all flat bottomed now and the new quartz slits are like the old glass ones?

[edit]
If anyone decides to "upgrade" to the flat bottomed ones, I'd be very happy to purchase your old out of date rounded nails lol

Ugh. The bottom of one of my quartz nails broke off in my nail buddy. Some of the holes fit a bit snug, so I think that was the cause. I'm actually surprised I didn't do this sooner, since the nail buddy gets used all the time. To prevent this from happening, I think I will make the holes a bit bigger. It will remove the nice finish, but it should be worth it.

Roth yeah, my bottoms are like domes, I never used the flat bottomed ones properly because they don't fit with my tube, should give them a go with my whip..the domed seem to work awesome though!

What is the proper way to turn off the Evo? I've been unplugging it, leaving the switch at "on" every time

Made some rosin for new years eve, quite successfully of not a huge haul after pressing four moist buds of two strains. Was still able to vape both the flattened buds in Evo as well as the dabs in the quartz nail in the HydraTree, GB-187, and FC-MOD+HT. I used only the tiniest amount so not crazy clouds but nice taste and effects for sure, next time I'll do bigger dabs per hit, maybe I'll freeze it to make em chips to drop in instead of scraping on the bottom of the nail. It's not too dirty but some black marks on the bottom so I guess I'll soak it? Has a wierd mark on the side that it came with on it too... How would torching clean it though?

There's not necessarily anything wrong with the HydraBombs, but the design is different than it used to be. The top can used to be much taller, providing much more room for bubbles so you never get splashed. The "crystal grenade" matrix percolater also looks a bit different. The difference in looks is only relevant if you already had an impression of the old ones, so my main point was about the mouth-splashing when you rip it hard.

The HydraHoneycomb is designed much like the Turbine with the gridded central barrel (holes in the middle where the vapor comes through), but instead of the Turbine splashguard that spins the water there is a honeycomb that does something similar. The HydraHoneycomb with the big tall can (if you notice the pic on the site is noticeably different than the other two with a tall top section and the smaller bottom section) is versatile. If you fill below the honeycomb you get action and function very similar to the Turbine (lots of flavor with a bit of cooling and diffusion - which is smaller bubbles, btw) while if you fill to just over the honeycomb you get a big maelstrom of froth which makes the hit smoother with a little bit of flavor loss. If the new HydraHoneycombs are short, however, I'm not sure you can get this latter function without getting water on your mouth.

"Stacking" is what bubbles do with good diffusion (RezBlock/Cranberry Extract intensifies this effect). They multiply and stack on each other, crawling up the can... and possibly the mouthpiece.

Hope this helps a bit. The info is meant to help you make the best decision you can; not to overwhelm you with information you don't care about.

Hmm well I still dont know what to do (and may not be able to make a decision before tonight when the current sale ends), maybe I should marinate on it and wait for the next inevitable sale and hope it's better (or they regigger the hydratubes).

Some are saying their (new style) hydrabombs are pretty 'bomb' in the end at least?

I will be honest, I still am having trouble figuring out which HT, whether it be the old ones, or the current slimmed down three models, that I'd enjoy best. I didn't really notice that the hydrahoneycomb looked different? Looked a lot like the hydrabomb to me? But it's similar to the turbine you say? I mean, that makes it even harder to choose if they arent even that different! A maelstrom of froth sounds like fun though? But as you say, if it's the new style, I wont get that feature of it (which in my mind, plus the "splash" means it really isn't working as well as I expect).

And yeah, beyond the hydrabomb having some flavor loss, I'm still unsure how the three stack up, or how to make a decision regarding it :/ .
