The point of "customer service" is to assist customers. People shouldn't have to use a special header to get them to read and respond to an email, and if someone is confusing or long-winded, they should write back for clarification, not ignore them. Not saying that's been happening, but I don't think it's fair to blame people either....

Well when you state it like that it just makes sense.

I completely agree. But at the same time, sending a well written email only helps expedite the process.

The reason I bring this up is that a while back my friend was complaining that he hadn't received an email response from a different company. I laughed when I saw the email he sent - it was more a giant wall of text, filled with complaints and not a single question/request. I rewrote the email in a more logical formating and got him an email back the same day.

Poor emails are really just a pet peeve of mine. Definite not saying its everyone's problem or defending GH customer service.

If THAT is the case, they need to make sure they include a competency test to make sure people can avoid the limbo bar of service, before they buy a vape that they have no chance to get serviced; because they are prone to grammar errors.

If that is the case, even though I have what I feel to be competent communication skills, I would avoid buying because of it.

I personally doubt that's the case. ..they just need to get better at answering every request in a timely manner.

hoping that GH can vape-out trough a day with only two batteries.

Yea, I hope so too...but if it is two batteries then that is unscrewing which @Mr. Me2 is hoping to avoid.

Unfortunately, unless you only use when close to a wall outlet, there will probably be a lot of unscrewing or just a dead battery.

I think there might be more risk with using their charger than screwing/unscrewing. It's all anecdotal, but posts in this thread indicate less failure when using a third party charger.

It makes sense, the third party chargers have proven reliability versus a brand new custom fabricated charger.

I will most likely be ordering a third party charger when my Grasshopper preorder (Sept. 2015) ships. Probably the Nitecore D2.

IF it is the OEM charger that is killing the Hoppers, I would hope they would've figured that out already and why wouldn't they know it was an issue. Pretty much shooting themselves in the foot, IF that is the case, which no one knows at this point.

are you sure that GH custom batteries will fit this charger? they are longer than standard AA. and what about vats, volts and ohms? are they not custom for GH charger as well? sorry if my questions are dumb. i understand electricity as much as pig understands aviation.

I'm surprised people haven't been getting replies. I've probably e-mailed them half a dozen times and always got a response the next business day.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's due to larger batches going out, which means more e-mails about shipping, changing orders, etc. We know they don't have a large staff so it's understandable. Not saying it's right, but they still are a newly founded business and there's bound to be hiccups.

It's alright. People have proven that for months now.

so...day two after recieving the replacement body for my 'green ti hopper'....it works as it should...but:
something came to my eyes that made me send an email to ghl...:
when i look inside the herbchamber of the new "body", i see a blue round thing with tree white dots, when the hopper is on, i can see that it is like a kind of a thin screen? in the previous body's herbchamber there is a metal screen,!
i was sending a request about this to ghl yesterday, but as i am waiting for their respond i wanted to ask here, if this is something normal, maybe a design change or if this is ( ...like i think but don't hope.... ) again a production error?

happy xmas!

lest hope so! i don't what that finely grinded stuff can fall into heating element. I guess they modified this because it was possible to damage GH when blowing out used material. this was dangerous! because many people have used to blow out small pieces that stick to the chamber wall after a session.

I should have been more clear. I don't think the OEM charger is inherently bad. I just think there may be an issue with defective chargers or the charging mechanism itself in the pen. I'm sure the OEM charger is designed just fine, but manufacturing defects could cause failures, which in turn might be the source of some of the issues we have seen. Again, just speculation on my part.

I plan on using an external charger for other reasons than to improve reliability. I have two batteries ordered and may increase it to three. With an external charger I have the ability to use my Grasshopper while charging the backup(s). It would be nice to be able to pop in a battery and see exactly what charge level it's at and if I need to top it up before heading out. Having the proper charge level also helps a lot with long term storage of batteries.

I'm pretty sure this has been confirmed, and there are other chargers that have been confirmed as working too. I don't feel like digging through old posts, but I know for a fact it's been discussed in the past couple of months.

Any chance you can get a picture?

EDIT: And as for external chargers, I use the XTAR VP2, and it works perfectly with the GH batteries.

I remember at some point ghl stated they planned on making an external charger but also identified third party external chargers that would work with their batteries.

sorry, i am not able to upload fotos for the moment,,,
what i try to explain is, when i look inside the new herbchamber/oven i recieved as replacement, on the side where it is filled with the herbs, (not the mouthpiece)
i see a round, flat, blue thing(circuit board ??) with tree white points/dots?
when i start the gh, i can see the led lights through this round thing and then it looks a bit like a screen, thats why i thought, ok, maybe they changed the design?!
when i look inside the previous, malfunctioning body (i still got it, they did not ask me to send it back),
i don't see this blue thing with tree dots, all i can see is a metal screen,
now what i am asking is if somebody, (maybe with a newer hopper from the last backers batch), could tell me if this is a design change and all is good,
or should there be a screen? the hopper seems to work properly, i am afraid that again it is a faulty body and i will have to send it back,,,,,,,,thank you for answers!
:-)

Anyone having temp selection issues? Since getting a new back end I'm having trouble temp stepping, 1 seems to hit as hard as 5. Doing barely-scientific ABV tests I can cache bowls the same on 1 or 5, a little darker on 3. Have a warranty request in - happily using hopper as is, just feels like I have a non-working or mis-aligned temp dial.

thank you @TheWhisper and @tubasco, yes it looks like the left one.
the previous one i had/still have, has a metal screen but it does not look like the right one in the pic, it does not have the circle around the screen, it's only a screen...

this sounds like the first hopper body and backend i got, i don't know what was the problem because also the backend fell apart, but when it worked (for two days), after 8-10 uses, it got as hot on step one as on step five, even hotter, it started to burn the herb, when i recieved the new backend, it continued to burn the herb, so they sent me a replacement body and now it works, temperaturewise, as it should,,,,,i guess it is an issue with the hopper body.

I had the same issue with my first backend. It was not the body, with a new backend the issue disappeared.
thanks guys, the first time I sent my hopper in I got a Firewood 3.0 - a super-clean and efficient convection portable w, for me anyway, a bit of a tweeking/learning phase - which I was learning pretty well till my hopper returned. I expect I'll have the Firewood down and it'll be my 3-4 min, ultra-clean session vape (that's as long as I'd ever want a session to go) when my hopper returns this next time to be my daily driver. Man, people are experiencing the Grasshopper as their very first vape, that blows me away, they have no idea!

My friend received his Evo. It's brand new still, so we're working on finding the most optimal way to use it.

Currently, the Grasshopper has thicker and denser clouds than the VapeXhale Evo. I can only imagine what this heater could do without batteries.

The Evo is amazing though. Much longer extraction time than the Grasshopper (3-5 hits makes it pretty done, Evo we had a good number of passes... maybe 3-4 hits each? 2 people).

I don't want to really say too much since it's a brand new unit, and I've only had 1 day to play with them. Next time I go to his house I'll be writing some things down. I made a really long comment on Reddit comparing the Evo, Grasshopper, and Air, but it was writted around 2 A.M. and I was pretty lit, so it's pretty jumbled, but I think it gets a good point across. I'll post it here if you all want, but it's pretty long so if you PM me I can just send you the link to not spam the forum.

i would like to know what happens if you fill not only a chamber with herb, but also a mouthpiece. can that kind of a mega load be vaped at high temperature?

Wouldn't vape much at all imo. Gh needs airflow to really shine. Even stuffing the chamber full creates hot spots. Airflow =clouds.
