Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

I've spent more time with my Hydrabomb now, and while I've made my peace with the sloppy fit on the 18mm joint, I'm not a big fan of the way they've doubled the bottom can size from my Sidecirc. Years of asthma and allergies have done a pretty good number on my lungs, and I feel like more volume is going to priming and clearing that thing than actually taking in the good stuff.

I'll keep it on the counter for a while and see when I reach for it, but this one may be the first hydratube I've picked up that I don't like.

This is a good comparison, another thing to remember is how the Mighty also has conduction to make the load vape more evenly (and will cook out a load without hitting it) that tends to make it harsher and more even, and hit you in a different way. Also not the place to discuss, but it is far from the most powerful portable, the most powerful session constant cooker yeah, but it doesn't have as much raw power as on demand convection portables for sure... But back to the Evo, there can be a bit of radiant heat from the hot glass, why removing the ELB in between hits can help, but its not necessary really though I do it sometimes myself too, overall its a negligible loss imo
I haven't tried too many different types of portables, but from what I've tried... the Mighty is the king for me when it comes to portability. I see in your signature that you have the ESV and Zion so maybe this is what you're comparing it to. I'm looking forward to the Zion as it looks very promising. How would you compare the Zion to the Mighty? How about the Zion through water against the Evo? I'm curious to know.

Yeah, even Firefly has more power on tap too, Grasshopper as well. Not to mention torch powered vapes and a few others I'm sure...

Anyway yeah so glad I never bought a Mighty because of Zion (just got mine back, posting in that thread), I haven't gotten to try one still (power wise, i am speaking literally just based on actual wattage and research via user reviews) but a few other Z beta testers have Mighty and compared in the thread if you search. It's just on demand portable > session portable imo, and Zion can session well too (but with a trigger, manual not automatic)

Again getting back to Evo (anymore feel free to PM or check out those other threads, even start a public discussion thread, there's a ton of info here on many great vapes!), Zion beta is what pushed my tolerance high enough that I had to buy an Evo, which can't be beat for simple always ready quick huge hits especially with others, but I enjoy Zion more for its various features and I enjoy more manual units for stronger effects. Evo through water or even dry is just so simple smooth and strong, but less rewarding imo i guess you could say? Very different though despite their similarities

So far, my only complaint about my lastest VXL order is that the only shipping option I was given was $35 for Fedex 2-Day. Of course it didn't ship until Tuesday (paid on Sunday) and Fedex is telling me that due to shipping delays that had nothing to do with mine, my delivery is being delayed until Monday. So $35 for Fedex 6-day shipping.

Was really looking forward to using this piece for Christmas Day. :(

Not yet knowing what the HydraHoneycombs are like now, it's a bit hard to say, but I'm going to assume they look like the others do now. If you find out they're not then I'd say go for that one. If we are dealing with just the new fat-bottomed shorties, I think I'd recommend the Turbine. I feel like the function of that one is the least affected by the change in the dimensions of the can and placement of the mouthpiece. The HydraHoneycomb can also function pretty much like the Turbine if you want it to, by keeping the water below the honeycomb, although it probably stacks a little more. From what I've seen, I think the HydraBomb really needs more room. Others may disagree, but that's my opinion.

Hm, some of your rhetoric goes over my head a little bit, and I wasn't even totally clear on what was wrong with the hydrabombs too.

So if I find out they are "not" looking like how they do now than to go with which one? The turbine?

And I wasn't sure I totally followed as to why the Hydrahoneycomb (which it seems like no one picked up?) would do the same as the Turbine with less water? Really I'm still confused as to how I'd pick even without this QA issue.

What did you mean by "it probably stacks a little more"?

Anyway eh, this whole thing has thrown me off, if I wake up tomorrow and the sale has ended by whenever that is maybe I'll just wait until 4/20, I have to imagine they'll be doing something then. And maybe the Hydratube line will be straightened out again by then too so I can make a more informed choice.

When I set it to the halfway point, it feels like it's pointing closer to 1 O'Clock. When I turn the knob, I assume the halfway point is when it "clicks". Is that correct? Also, is it safe to leave the Evo on? Is there a time limit or some kind of restriction before it gets dangerously hot? Right now, I don't like the fact that I have to keep turning it off, then on, then wait for 10 minutes after it's green for the heat to fully soak before I can start vaping.

I'm coming from a Mighty (a portable) and so far this is not living up to my super high expectation.
Coming from a Crafty I was in the same situation. I also have a minivap and that's a good match too.
Where it clicks is where you should go with the pointer and then on/off 6 times.
Coming from a Mighty I'd advice you not to play too much with that Evo temperature knob. I did the same immediately after getting it, but that's how you play with a Mighty (or any vape with selectable temperatures), not the Evo, imho.
I like it better on noon/one o'clock from the beginning to the end of the bowl.

Vapor wise the Evo is not such a big improvement over the Crafty.

Being accustomed to rise the temp gradually I did the same with the Evo with the result of having to reset it often, and seeing that green red light alarm or both lights mixed. That's probably the same for you?
I sticked to noon/1: no more issues.
Hits like a champ with less material, try with 0,050g if that's of your liking, and doesn't need a battery, that's your improvement over the Mighty. :)

Leaving it on many hours without use is not a good choice. I think that after some time it starts to blink if you don't use it and goes cold? Does that after 1 hour iirc?

There's not necessarily anything wrong with the HydraBombs, but the design is different than it used to be. The top can used to be much taller, providing much more room for bubbles so you never get splashed. The "crystal grenade" matrix percolater also looks a bit different. The difference in looks is only relevant if you already had an impression of the old ones, so my main point was about the mouth-splashing when you rip it hard.

The HydraHoneycomb is designed much like the Turbine with the gridded central barrel (holes in the middle where the vapor comes through), but instead of the Turbine splashguard that spins the water there is a honeycomb that does something similar. The HydraHoneycomb with the big tall can (if you notice the pic on the site is noticeably different than the other two with a tall top section and the smaller bottom section) is versatile. If you fill below the honeycomb you get action and function very similar to the Turbine (lots of flavor with a bit of cooling and diffusion - which is smaller bubbles, btw) while if you fill to just over the honeycomb you get a big maelstrom of froth which makes the hit smoother with a little bit of flavor loss. If the new HydraHoneycombs are short, however, I'm not sure you can get this latter function without getting water on your mouth.

"Stacking" is what bubbles do with good diffusion (RezBlock/Cranberry Extract intensifies this effect). They multiply and stack on each other, crawling up the can... and possibly the mouthpiece.

Hope this helps a bit. The info is meant to help you make the best decision you can; not to overwhelm you with information you don't care about.

If I got the 3 new ones for the Bomb, Honey Comb, and Turbine they really do work nice. They are mouth pieces on the left. No splashes to really worry about and I get the full effect. Very frothy etc. The smaller Grav Labs tubes I own, do get water in them easier but they are much smaller. All my tubes work more than fine with the right fill though.

 How's your Christmas going folks?

I hope you are all having a great one :)

Sooooooooo someone thinks I've been a good boy this year . . .

How lovely is this vape?
I think it's my Christmas Angel :luv:

More in-depth impressions to come, but after only a few hours use I can already see just how well this device performs. It is impressive. And in my limited experience with it, it is capable of producing a very uniform & dark roasting which is easily comparable to that produced by my Mighty.

So far, I'm loving everything about this vaporizer and the glass, & I can definitely see the Evo taking a very comfy place among my list of d.d's.

I'm a lucky boy!

The OG Hydrabomb!
Indeed. And after reading the thread recently, I was relieved to see that it was the OG :)

It has, what seems to me to be perfect function, stacking beautifully with no sign of a kiss - and it purrrrrs like a puddy tat!

I think I am currently ripping through material in a similar way that I do in the Sublimator - although I guess that's mostly just down to my lungs being greedy

. . . . But it is Christmas, & it's traditional around here to go large at this time of year, so . . . . :D

I hope all of my F.C. peepz have got some nice treatz of some kind this Christmas.

Enjoy!

Just wanted to let everyone with an Evolver hydratube know that the new batch of glass VapeXNails do, indeed, work with our hydratubes.

There is more clearance with these nails, and my first impression is that these are made by machines, which makes each nail much more uniform. Either way, I'm very happy with the 5 i recieved.

Hey guys, I received my evo christmas eve and couldn't get it to work right... Turns out my hydratube came with a hole in it where the mouthpiece is attached to the rest of it. I e-mailed them and haven't heard back yet but also don't expect to until Monday. I have been loving the unit otherwise, however sometimes I will be using the device and it will flash yellow and green. Is this normal? I haven't been able to find anything on it.

That's just the red led blinking while the green led is on, which indicates the auto shutoff. The Evo turns itself off after an hour. A simple flip of the switch, off then on, resets it.

Awesome thanks!! That is what I assumed it was, but couldn't find it anywhere.

justcametomind,
Where did you get that Mario-glass... Very cool...
I just found it at a local head shop. It says Evolution on it, but I am not sure where it was made though. $200 but boxing day sale entire store was 20% off so i snagged it for $160

[EDIT]
All the welds are very clean and aligned perfect. So I must say I am pretty happy with the purchase and price point. The EVO barely fits. It doesnt even get all the way into the female joint but its mostly air tight. It functions well though.

Does anyone know if is possible to have a broken bamboo on an Evo replaced? And if so, how much does it cost generally? Thanks.

Looked like it was working well, but if you're worried about breaking the joint on the EVO (I would be but I'm clumsy), I personally think the whip kit is a great addition. Snag yourself a 18/18 adapter to plug into the waterpipe. You sacrifice the all glass airpath, but I don't notice a huge decline in taste. That said, I don't really know, because I've never really used the EVO with my other glass without the whip kit. None of my pieces have the clearance for either the neck of the piece, or my forehead  so while the Hydratube I have tastes great, its a tree and all my other glass is honeycomb or matrices...so I'm already expecting less taste from the diffusion. I think it tastes pretty good though :)

Went out for a Christmas party on Christmas, brought out the EVO in the Travel buddy with the whip kit and the quartz nails and my new piece. Honestly was a very kick ass setup, the Travel buddy is great, held everything that was necessary except the grinder, which I didn't end up using and I could have made space. Put a little dab mat in there with it. So after we did gifts and drank, I set the bad boy up in a few minutes, dabbed everyone up, and tore it down in a few minutes. I think the Hydratube would have been WAY to much for my drunk ass friends to handle, which was another plus for the whip. A great time was had, but boy did the EVO knock us out
