FINALLY in Cali... and needing recommendations

I've taken a bit of an absence from FC while I am attempting to gain legal status in my home state.... really miss the community in here. In the meantime, I've found myself in Cali and have many questions.


Do Cali medical dispensaries acknowledge reciprocity from other states?

I'm in marina del rey and checking w.maps I found a doc to go to tomorrow. Is weedmaps trusted, or do any of you all have a more reputable doc in the area I might discuss my current meds?

I'd like to get my license in Cali. Must I prove residency? Can one get licensed if using a hotel as a long term address?

Any advice is welcome before I hit streets tomorrow!

To establish CA residency you will need a CA drivers license or ID, a rental or mortgage agreement, or lastly a utility bill with your name and the physical address. California is not a reciprocity state so you will need a CA MMJ recommendation.

You have to have a drivers license or state ID card to get your rec. There are no recipitory law here so you will not be able to get into a dispensary without one. Weed maps is legit no worries there. The most you should pay for your rec is $50 and can be found cheaper. You should check out SFVDM it's not to far from west Hollywood.

I just got a California rec, and was wondering if anyone had any south LA north OC recommendations for dispensaries that are good for concentrates? I'm also confused by the sheer variety of concentrates and am wondering if there are any particular brands that are must try or are really good deals? I'd prefer co2 extractions or solvent less but am willing to branch out and try a bho if it's really well recommended here. I'm looking for something that I can throw in a pen style vape and that'll be able to be used in a group of e-cig users without being obviously cannabis, but I'm also looking for an indica concentrate that I could sandwich in with some bud and that'll knock me right off to sleep. Was gonna post in the medical or concentrate sections, but this post seemed appropriate and was already here. If this is derailing too far I can take this elsewhere and my apologies. Also if somewhere further north in LA or harder to get to has just unbeatable deals I'm willing to trek a bit further. Heck if somewhere in San diego had insanely good pricing on a quality product I'd be willing to make the trip.

Welcome to California! :peace: So, how'd it go? I live on the edge of Marina del Rey and there are plenty of dispensaries in the area...plus delivery services. Can't advise you where to find what you want because I only smoke flowers.

Hey, I live in LA and shortly worked in a dispensary. You're going to have a very hard time getting into a good place with good meds unless you have a recommendation and a CA ID. PM me for more info / help on getting meds or the right paperwork!

UPDATE!

Sure I got "taxed" for it, but did pick a recommendation no problem on Venice Beach using my temp address. It was a wild experience, one I look forward to elaborating on when back home at a real keyboard :)

Went to a collective at 2005 Lincoln Blvd, got a free Critical Mass hash cookie for first visit, a free pre rolled j for happy hour, and some of the cleanest wax I've ever had from Alpine called Fruity Pebbles. Pics will be uploaded at home...

Just brought my pens, no herb vapes, so sticking to concentrates this week... though I am tempted to break my vape only habit and rip that dubbie.

Really don't wan to get away much from my bride, and she does not partake, so likely delivery for me from here out.

Relocating into West Hollywood as I type! Wish it was warmer, here the pool at hotel is quite the scene.

Well, the Alpine Fruity Pebbles realy set the bar high. But I've devoured the gram and needed to get a refuel for the duration of the trip.

Being further from the first collective I joined, I turned to the maps for something in west Hollywood and read a lot of positives about Cannacology. I'm soooo glad I went. They have a huge line of concentrates, live resins, waxes, oils, carts, and wide selections of shatters. Great clean space and Priced right to match.

Also gave me a free edible and a 25% off first order as FTP. Fuck I love all thsee FTP deals! How do yall choose?!?


Anyway I came home with Waxman gsc/Indica/grapefruit. Thc79.58%, favor is what I expect and nowhere close to the beauty that was Alpine. Effect does not seen as potent either, but still okay for what it is.

Got a few absolute xtracts, grape stomper and royal kush carts. I've never used these but wanted something more convenient than loading my source coil atomizers on the go. These look awesome and will have to wait to see... will post up later.

I haven't heard of it--my general perception is that high quality flower is immensely flavorful on its own, so the addition of flavor terpenes is unnecessary. I know for a fact that certain medical dispensaries do something to their weed to make it taste stronger, but I'm honestly not sure if it's during the grow or after.

Some flower is flavored but not with expensive terps. It's flavored with things like orange or lemon concentrate or vanilla extract etc.
It's not a good thing and is usually done to enhance the appeal of marginal bud. There are two methods:

The outside-in method flavors the plant after it has been harvested (during curing). Closest thing to adding terps to buds is some shops offer a "super bud", a flower with some potent cannabis extract added to it. They usually have a fancy name for it..... to help justify the super premium price.

A couple of times I had this super smelly weed that smelled like lavender/lime/lemon (3 different strains), it was like they were sprayed with essential oils to me. It was insane to the point of thinking they added some artificial flavors.

I have learnt I absolutely HATE carts, but working with them for transportability. Totally not effective for me. Give me nails!

Yeah, the cartridges are underwhelming for most people with a tolerance and seriously overpriced. The O-Pens are VERY overpriced--it's better to buy the pure C02 oil in syringes and vape that with an atomizer or mix it with some EJ mix or whatever it is they call it. And the wax here is so plentiful and cheap that it's hard to rationalize being finicky with juices and cartridges when pens and nails (and my herbalizer :p) are so great

Yup, these will definitely be my last carts..... they did serve my purposes for taking south, but I'll never mess with them again.

Glad I brought something though.

For what is worth, and you're mileage may vary, but the Royal Kush carts from absolute extracts do seem quite a bit more effective on me than the Grape Stomper. Though that might also be attributed to me not being on my standard meds, either way I'm grateful it is having more impact than my first cart.

Interesting, I didn't know they had a Royal Kush. The only ABX indicas I've seen are Grape Stomper and Blackberry Kush, but I love me some Royal Kush flower. How's the flavor?

Flavor was okay for a cart, not as sweet as their Stomper, more natural.


My trip left a big hole in my heart for Alpine Extracts. Do they also distribute to Colorado?
I have never had anything like this concentrate, but want more superflava 'trate. What else should I try?
