Discontinued The Grasshopper

My buddy's had an extra battery in it.

This one just started making the clicking sound when in use. It doesn't do it when charging like others have reported, it clicks when it's being used. Not sure if I read anyone else's doing that while running.

Other than the sound, it's working fine though. I don't plan to do anything about it at this point. Sometimes it doesn't happen.

Got mine a week ago, I like the Grasshopper so far. I have only gotten to play with it twice or so and I do realize the clicking initially when powered up. The vaporizer coupled with a glass rig would be the best option as I feel it would help with extraction in lower dial temps. Mouthpiece does get hot. I haven't used my silicone but it would play a little part for fitting and also helps keep the titanium scratch free right there.

as far as I read in this thread and think it was also mentioned by ghl the clicking in when in use is normal... that is why it is called grasshopper ... I suppose... but ask ghl...

I got a grasshopper coming in soon (hopefully). For those with units, what would you say is the best portable to complement the grasshopper? Assuming price isn't an issue.

I'm thinking maybe something with a larger bowl for groups, or something with better taste? Lotus? Mighty?

Depends on how you define compliment. To me, I'd go for something slow and chill - something like the Arizer Solo which you can sip on for 20 minutes. The GH is a cloud machine, why buy another cloud machine?

Interesting viewpoint. Thanks for the suggestion. Would you say this partly because of the fact that the grasshopper mouthpiece gets hot over time?

Another general question: How would you rate the taste on the Grasshopper, in reference to other vapes like the solo.

No, its because the grasshopper is a convection based vaporizer which heats up in 5 seconds. Conduction based vaporizers like the Solo take several minutes before they finally reach temperature. The difference is you are forced to slow down and take more small puffs. Cloud chasing vapes like this encourage you to take 3-4 big puffs then empty and refill.

The hopper is a convection vape so it's taste is pretty superior to many other portable vapes on the market. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the most pure flavor possible), I'd personally put the Grasshopper at a 7 or 8

I would have to strongly recommend the mighty! (if money isn't an option).
It is the perfect group session vape.
It keeps up with everyone. People can pull as fast/slow as the want and it will keep up.

Hmmmmm, I think you hit the nail on the head, it depends what qualities you define as complimenting.

I personally never use my solo in group sessions (unless to support another vape in a very large group).
The solo has a smaller bowl (in comparison to the mighty) and sometimes it's heater has trouble keeping up with the heavy hitters in my group.
Depends how patient your group is.

After having the crafty/mighty in our arsenal no one ever asks me to break my solo out these days.

Just my own experience.

Just chiming in, i've used the GH in small groups and it's been fine. I wouldn't say it's a great group vape, but it's pretty entertaining watching people start coughing from the big hits the GH can produce. They're always amazed by how powerful it is.

Plus you get to make the joke of telling them they need to suck harder, since most are use to the slow draw technique from other vapes

@PAZ excellent so glad you got your GH and sounds as though you like it alot.... would you say that it spanks your XP.... with very little to even make a fair comparison with..... in other words does the XP measure up at all to the GH or is it just superior in most every way......

One last question.... how long have you had it? :peace:

I pre-ordered last week (ss) and it shows a Feb 2016 estimated ship date. Sounds like that might not be rock solid. After reading this thread I am really excited to get it in my hands. I have a Pax2 and I think this will complement that really well. I have had a MFLB for awhile and although I think the GH and MFLB are similar in the way they are used but the MFLB isn't very stealth. The huge clouds I have seen in the videos look like a lot more than I get out of the MFLB.

Really? I thought this is the type of post that we don't find on FC, we find these types of post on Reddit. Message a mod if you think it's the manufacturer posting from an alternate account, not like this. There's been other vapes who had a fairly good following from FC only to have their reputation crash down on them because of this exact thing you're accusing the GH team of doing.

Also, just because you and a few others believe that you know your exact backing date, doesn't mean everyone does. I was a november backer, and I actually thought I backed in december until I received my confirmation e-mail and realized I backed in mid November. No way in hell did I remember my exact date.

It's really simple how people could keep the faith. By the constant reviews saying that they were nervous/thinking of backing out/etc. until they got their hands on the vape. Then all of that went away and they raved about the GH. It's understandable that backers without a Grasshopper are upset, frustrated, and concerned due to the long wait and no update. But this type of post isn't the way to let it out.

I'll take back what I said if the FC mods do deem this poster as a GH team trying to do some PR control, but until that happens, I believe you're attacking a member of FC for no other reason besides venting your frustration.
I admit I wrote that out of frustration. My "evidence" is circumstantial, and i broke the forum rules by not addressing my suspicions directly with a mod.
I apologize to all for potentially instigating further negativity in here.
I wasn't familiar at all with the forum rules before I had a temporary ban placed on my account.
Now that I'm allowed back in here I can see where what I said was in the wrong.
So happy vaping, happy holidaze, and may there be quick grasshopper shipping to all!

I agree that the GH can produce more clouds but the mflb can be hidden completely in small hands as long as it is used native.
But then you just exhaled something from nothing which looks really fucking weird.

Its the device itself when in use that is stealthy, not how you are using it. I just like walking around with the gH all exposed for the world to see because everyone assumes its a ecig and even if I use it right in front of them they will think its an ecig until they get close enough to smell the herb. I've even shown my abv to cigarette smokers that were curious about how to vape without those stupid liquids.

Note, I use peppermint when out; people smell more peppermint than herb but can still note out the herb smell. Most people don't seem to care though since it isn't smoke and I don't plume vapor when near people, if I am near people I lower down to 2 and try and limit my hit so I get more air inhaled after inhaling vapor.

I'm also interested in this. I used to have a Inhalater XP but lost it. It was my daily driver and I'm hoping to replace it with my incoming grasshopper. Switching from the Inhalater to the grasshopper, is there anything you miss?

Not if you ghost the hit. But you make a good point. Now that its cold out its just me exhaling like normal ;)
But then you leave you hand just covering your mouth for like 10 seconds until you randomly exhale a heavier/hotter breathe which makes more visible vapor in the cold. I was just outside yesterday evening in the cold and my normal exhales were nowhere near as vapor oriented as my light hits on 2. In the end as long as you aren't near people no one will know or care.

@lreinirz it contributes, but the bigger reason is that there are many neutral flavored components in the air path so your herb gets emphasized.

There are a few things you can do to increse the stealth factor of exhaled vape hits but in the end you hit the nail on the head!

Enjoy that hopper!! Still playing the wait game.

Im curious if GH owners mostly use their hopper with or without water? Lots of videos with water which is cool but Ill use native 95% of the time and water on occasion. If you could only use the hopper native would it still be your go to device?

wow. what a massive thread! maybe someone have already mentioned this, but i will ask anywayz:

have someone suggested to Hooper Labs to make PinnaclePro style bullets for GH? that would be so, so, so, so, so useful in daily vaping operations. also cartridges for concentrate would be very nice.

if not Hooper Labs, than maybe some 3rd party producer can do this?

For on the go, yes, for at home use I'd probably go for the Air since I don't like going above 3 on the GH without water. My throat has been mean to me about high temps with vapor. If the Air could produce clouds consistently like the GH, or if the GH were just a little cooler like the Air. You could probably couple a whip with the silicone mouthpiece to achieve that effect, but I don't have access to that.

For those who didn't see my Reddit post, I am gonna get to compare the VapeXhale Evo and the Grasshopper. I want to put it in the larger review, but I'll probably post comparison videos. I'm on break from school for a few weeks, so I'll have nothing to do but make y'all happy.
