Nice! Been playing with the Liger v2 w/ SiC since last Friday and it's definitely giving the SiC halo a run for it's money.

Beautiful setup. Being able to turn the bucket and lock it with the nut at a certain angle is a big advantage on a rig like that. The way mine hits with the quartz is out of this world. I can't wait to try the SiC! Do you have the quartz dish too, if so which do you prefer? Try playing around with turning the cup over if you haven't already. Using the small side of the cup gives a slightly cooler dab. Glad to finally have someone with the 2 best nail choices so we can get some head to head action! Clearly D-nail and CCA are ahead of the rest in this field. Even Errlectric is lagging behind these 2 in the actual nail department and they have top notch electronics.

Yeah I like that you can lock it in at any angle, too. D-Nail offers a 45 degree adapter, too, though for rigs that need it ...

I didn't get a quartz cup yet but I'll probably get one with my next order through CCA.

Can't wait until he offers more styles of dabber for the SC. We need a ball point tip or a pointed tip like the pointed tip on the JB Dabs portable dabber. Both work great with the Liger IME.

I'll try flipping the cup around and give it a go.

Man you are rocking such a similar rig and setup to me there @MileHighLife !

Who did that piece out of interest?

D-nail 45 degree adapter is so good it stopped me using my fully worked kevin murray dropdown in favor of this adapter and a cheap m/m adapter!!!

Man I wish you guys could try sapphire halos out! The difference is like going from last gen nails to SiC again!

Hey can anyone provide shots of the inside of the Liger/SiC setup? I am interested to see what it looks like :)

I ended up ordering the quartz halo and an auber enail...ill wait for the sapphire insert to restock...not sure if i can wait on a carb cap though..just wish i could find one that will fit good enough to hold me over until they restock the dnail universal

so you went with the nail thats an option with the auber controller and a quartz halo fits it? i would of guessed d-nail halos only fit d-nail dishes but perhaps im confused. did you mean the auber controller/heater coil and an HE nail with the quartz halo,
thanks for any and all help

Hey Everyone,

First off, there is a lot of great info here so I just wanted to thank everyone who has contributed.

I am about to make my first purchase and have a question in regards to the coil I will be using. Before I get into that, here is what I will be purchasing.

- D-nail SiC halo + slim series
- Auber RDK-200

Now, I already purchased a flat coil from DHgate (HymanQuartz). Unfortunately, the coil isn't exactly symmetrical but it relatively flat (I can post a picture later when I get home).

My question is - Should I order a coil from d-nail as well? Or should my DHgate one suffice for the time being (on a holiday budget right now).

Also, if you do recommend a coil from d-nail, is it worth it to spend the extra $20 on the 'extended life' one?
got a link or store name (or number) for hyman on DHGate? cant for the life of me find em

yea thats kinda what i figured, was hoping to do exactly that with a SiC dish but d-nail is all sold out...they selling anywhere else or am i reduced to waiting like a plebe

It's by Tristan Hodges. If Predator were to have a dab session before he went to slay some humans I believe it would be out of a very similar rig. Considered getting a 45 degree drop down for it but the D-Nail adapter and Liger work so well I think I'm set.

Can't wait til the sapphire halos hit the market for the public. Always looking to try something new.

Funny you asked, I was actually checking Hyman's store last night and didn't see the coils listed anymore (here is the link anyway: http://www.dhgate.com/store/19928813).

Although, these flat coils on amazon look exactly like what I got (minus the fact my the flat coil is a little wonky) for the same price. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0177DETRC

That's exactly what I did.

Sooo fucking good.

Night and day difference.

I just did the same thing as well. SiC Halo w/ slimline series + D-nail carb cap = WOW... game changer for sure.

What temp are you currently running at? I've been using one of the suggested temps in this thread of 627... But I'm not exactly sure what to expect from a 'perfect dab'/perfect outcome. I'll have to do some of my own testing as well.

Awesome thanks for the tip, do you know if hammering the coils straight or putting them in a vice would totally crap em out? i saw a video of someone unwinding one with a screwdriver pretty easily so if they're that malleable id imagine they may be flattenable? ill be damned..thats a real word.

any idea when d-nail is getting more SiC or quartz halos? anyone? bueller? and the universal cap for that matter too haha. ive spent probably the last week researching the best bang for your buck beginners expert set up and i finally landed on it only to have the halos sold out :|

and for anyone who gives a shiz or is even still reading..

Auber Instruments RDK-200 Controller $80.04 (incl. ship to US) ($140.04 if you want the flat coil from Auber)
http://www.auberins.com/index.php?m...ducts_id=459:953435034b2fc39bfb105183b76d6f06

The coil from amazon @Dada710 mentioned above (if your cheap like moi and would rather spend that other 30 financing a carb cap) $34.85 incl. ship

D-Nail slim series with SiC halo and universal carb cap $175

For a grand total of $289.89...now i just have to wait til they re-stock the halo's and caps...

For extra credit if you wanna get drunk and go on dhgate..
http://www.dhgate.com/product/2015-new-glass-smoking-bongs-based-water/216674730.html

for the cherry on top i also added the fc-710 which for sub $40 i figured why not go all out and hop right on the bandwagon, just got a notification it shipped and ordered maybe 2 hours ago so maybe it wont take a month

shoutout to everyone on this thread for all the hours of dabbing they put in so we could reach this new craziness that involves sapphire rings and silicon halo's. what a time to be alive

special thanks to @Dada710 @ckingflava for getting back to me so quick, @DrSteez for asking all the questions i had so when i arrived they were answered and to @herbivore21 and @MileHighLife for knowledge and "tech" support if you will

will post updates when thangs start arriving and hopefully one day of the full set up,
until then,
glerb on frients

Just saw a post on instagram from my lhs. The have a grip of quartz halos and universal carb caps in stock. Grabbed myself a carb cap. Only used it once so far but it certainly lives up to the hype, at least compared to the ill fitting glass jar I was using.

Anyway, if you can't wait for dnail to restock, hit up @flavornj on IG they still have quite a few caps and halos and I believe they ship anywhere in the US.

Best way to clean and maintain the quartz?
Q-tip wipe around the inside of the dish after every dab, then heat clean at 950-1000F until the black bits turn white. I'll torch it every now and then to get the stubborn bits and an ISO cleaning once a week or when it gets bad.

So,

I've been absent for awhile due to being busy with school. But I just ordered one of these:
Galaxy-Vortex-Flat-600x600.jpg

for less than $206. (it's theoretically a flower vape, like the lotus- just with a full ceramic/glass airpath). Much cheaper than the returned $504 d-nail setup that I returned. Granted I could have gotten the same functionality for less with a 1.2 instead of a ninja nail, but that's beside the point. I'm looking forward to trying it out with oil- alas I won't be able to compare it to the lotus. I do remember hitting my best friend's old pukinbeagle/1.2 setup though, so that will be my point of reference. Expect videos of this on my grav labs diffusion pump and my friend's toros- should be fun.

Msrp on this bad boy is $275, but Galaxy is having a big holiday sale (25% off plus free shipping) tied into an instagram promotion- but if you don't have instagram... just hit them up is what they told me on the phone :D. Hard to argue with their holiday pricing- their mini e-nail setup (not the nice encased one with a ceramic heating element) is going for the same ~$205. Only bummer is, not compatible with D-nail's next gen stuff. I'm curious how well their quartz-coated ceramic works- we shall see if I am curious enough to spring for an Odyssey (The flagship nail/heating element) after I try out the Vortex that's on it's way to me :D.

@herbivore21
Man, that Sapphire halo sounds sublime:tup:. I was hoping one of the sapphire inserts would fit on the Odyssey nail head, but after sourcing measurements from both companies, it won't fit :( (I dont think I would have been able to resist the odyssey if it had). Granted, the carb cap might have enough clearance to use one screen-tech style, but I don't even want to think about that until I try the vortex pictured above :lmao:

Cheers all! more to follow :)

Anybody here know what it means when the d-nail controller flashes PFA and the temps shoot up and down l?

I turned the unit on and it started heating normally but it just starts flashing PFA and shuts down.

I am so bummed with Xmas around the corner I may have to make it through the new year with no enail

PFA means that the heater coil is not plugged in typically. Dollars to donuts you got a faulty coil ;)

Thank you for the quick reply
No worries :) hope you can find a coil before the silly season inevitably sends you reaching for your dab rig bro!

@MPZ I took a look at the galaxy enail the first time you posted it, looks interesting! If I used anything but an enail regularly that would be toward the very top of my list to try! :D Let me know how it goes!

Sapphire is definitely the best nail material bar none for flavor. Beats the hell out of quartz halos to a lesser extent, but especially other quartz for not leaving half your dab trailing off into the air!

I was stoked to find these available at my local shop after all the time I spent waiting for dnail to restock. Glad some fcers were able to scoop what they needed as well.

Been doing lots of testing the last couple days and I'm really loving the sic halo. Super clean flavor, and near complete vaporization of the oil, even at very low temps. It can handle any since dab I've thrown at it with little to no residue left behind on the nail.

Actually prefer the sic to the quartz at this point in time, but perhaps I haven't gotten the quartz completely dialed in temp wise yet. More testing needed :science:

darkrom

Great Scott!
If there is residue just crank it up to 900-1000 and no torch needed. Seems to come out super clean. I might get a new tianium nut that goes on top of the sic. I don't like that mine has been hit with a torch.

Unless someone knows a pretty sure fire way to get that nut clean and safe. It probably IS safe, but I want it to look like new again. I don't mind discoloration at all, just want a smooth clean looking surface. I avoided titanium in "last gen" nails because quartz was always safer and easier in my mind. I don't really stress about that nut, but I also want some help getting it back as new as possible.
