My new walnut box has different air management from my 5 year old box.
The walnut has a wide shallow curve for an intake channel that is barely noticeable while my old box has a narrow 90 degree trench.
It seems the designers have been quietly tweeking the box.
BTW my old box has no o - ring and the rails and screen are all tucked in .

Yup, it's been discussed a few times now. Many of us took to putting a small piece of tape in the older channel to restrict it right at the bowl, herb was leaking back upstream in a loaded box in guys pockets. I ended up with a skinny triangle of 'Gorilla Tape' in one of mine, it's still there doing fine. At one point I considered a little wire staple but didn't want to go drilling holes the the box......seems wrong somehow.
Making the channel wider but less deep helped a lot there I think. But it's a compromise of course, sure not to suit some guys.
You need to leak air in, but don't want herb leaking out?

I thought they were trying to optimize the vapor to air ratio with the new intake, but who knows.
Ya know, I used to find random bits of herb trapped in the spring assembly, but never found escaped bud lurking in a pocket.
But then I never really shook out my pockets , and many members have commented on losing herb through the ass end ( or front end ? ) of the box. So who really knows why they changed the intake.

Well, since they didn't actually change the restriction near as I can tell (same cross sectional area) my guess is the didn't want to change it. If they just wanted change, they'd make the existing groove deeper or shallower, or wider or narrower but making it wider and shallower at the same time basically cancels any change?
It's conjecture for sure, we don't work for there, but there were complaints about herb leakage (and several work arounds) but no sustained discussion on more or less air down the channel I recall. My money's on addressing the herb leaks, FWIW.

OK so I bought the MFLB basic set, a wood stem, the Orbiter (which already arrived and works great with my other vapes), the PA 2.0 which I intend to make my way of use 99 percent of the time, and the concentrate tray. Of course I got the finishing grinder too. I have been studying up and I think most any problem I would have is solved by my using it as a plug in. So here are a few quick things I would like to know as a new user.
1. The PA is used just like a regular battery, you still pull out after 30 seconds yes?
2. Do I have to buy a torch lighter to clean the concentrate trays? Wouldn't ISO or SS cleaner work?
3. How much dry material fits in the grinder? Is it roughly a full trench?
4. Can someone explain the need for the on and off thing you have to do with oil and wax's before they are ready to use? Is this needed with kief and hash too?
5. Finally does the PA change the basic use of the MFLB, or just follow the normal rules? Thinking how I would normally use it: How many hits can I get with a PA and a full trench of good dry herb with the MFLB grinder through the Orbiter? Just for shits and giggles lol!

OK mikeben let's see,
The PA is only on when you are pushing on the switch at the back of the batt insert.
Basically use the PA just as you would use batteries.
A torch is definitely the fastest , easiest and cleanest way to clear your screens when holding them with tweezers .
The finishing grinder holds a trench full of at least 4 great hits if you vigorously shake the box each time in between each hit.
Enjoy the experience.

Hello,
How does vapor condensation effect absorption? In the past I've read a bit about the MFLB's efficiency through the native method.
I've been wondering about the difference of native, stem, whip, or the third lung efficiencies. Sure, exhaled vapor is wasted vapor, but a big third lung tube rip sure is fast and powerful.
My question is, does anyone know of any research on this subject?

I'd warranty it. They'll probably be more than happy to replace it, I'm sure they don't want glass in your lungs anymore than you or I do. Cleaning under the screen is pretty damn difficult.. I'm sure they'd be glad to help.So I shattered my stem while it was in the box, I can see tiny shiny shards of glass inside of it... what should I do. Kinda scurd to use it![:\](/i/s/hmm.gif "Hmm :\")

Make peace with either the PA or the UFO by itself then add the next Xmas toy. The both have different cues and needs to be addressed so its simpler to do them one at a time. Yes I am that simple.

Great advice ALL! I think I'll start with the PA then. I think where we went wrong was pushing the power longer than I would have with the batteries because I was so enamored with trying to produce visible vapor with the UFO.

I don't own a MFLB, but I popped in here just to say how much I admire the brush. I got one recently, and it's probably going to replace my Storz & Bickel brush for almost everything. It's beautiful, really light and elegant, and most importantly pretty much a perfect size and shape for all my vapes and grinders. Nicely done, Magic-Flight!

Is the power adapter really worth the price? every time i consider buying one, i just buy another vape or glass piece instead because it's such an expensive add on and it keeps you tethered to a wall to boot so i always take a pass on it, however the main reason that the mflb fell out of daily use for me was the batteries. it's not that they dont last long between charges, it's that they dont last long overall (a few months) and didnt feel like constantly replacing them.

I think so. I use my mflb A LOT with the pa. Unlimited power for unlimited sipping during chill sessions watching tv or movies.

I agree with KF here. Limited battery life, along with degrading performance as the battery discharges, has me rushing sessions and focusing on battery usage rather then enjoying the moment.
The PA changes all that. With no 'battery issues' to worry about, it's easier to get to the enjoying it part. Batteries still have their place, of course, but if there's power handy and I have the time......
