A Vaper's Vacation to Amsterdam

Hey friends!

So I have been a vaper for roughly half a year now, and I couldn't been happier. Ever since I bought my Mighty, its a great joy to be able not to combust and truly appreciate the great herb as it was meant to be, in its purest form. :leaf:

In a couple of days, I'll be flying over to Amsterdam, between 14-28.12. And i really want this vacation to be a complete vape related vacation.

So please, if you can help hit me up with anything you think a vaper should go visit, and experience in Amsterdam, I'd be more than happy.

I live in a country where concentrates, ejuices, waxes and dabs are rare to none, so far I haven't tried lots of proper and strong waxes other than what i have from cleaning mu Mighty's with a QWISO's method

As for Vape related things to see, I was thinking more along the lines of going to Vape head shops, to maybe see and try all kinds of vapes and maybe talk to more experienced Vapers and learn from them. Vape coffee shops, vape shops, dab shops, concentrates and whatever else that would help a junior vaper.

I am traveling with combusting friends, but I really dont want to combust myself, so I want to buy a reliable vape and just use it for the duration of the trip instead of rolling myself a j, and maybe if it survives the trip bring it home with me as a reminder :brow::D

I will also be flying from Amsterdam to Germany for 4 days, then back to Amsterdam, any advice on if it would be a hassle to bring my vape along after I rinse and clean it for lack of evidance?

thanks guys!

Also, please, if you got advices for great coffee shops and recommended strains (the stronger the better) to vape with, I would also appreciate:rockon:

Keep on rockin' and vaping friends. and may the steam side of the force be with you:wave:

I haven't been to A'dam in a few years now, but what a beautiful, creative, and fun city it is. My experiences are not recent enough to make suggestions, but I encourage you to think holistically about the trip. Walk the loops around the canals, visit the canal house museums, enjoy the art that's everywhere, watch out for bicycles ... and relax with a cool beer and a lovely vape at every turn. Man, I really want to get back there. (Having flown through Schiphol a few times, I would NEVER bring anything remotely questionable through there; they do not mess with security.) Sorry that I can't give you any vaping advice--but have a wonderful time!

Thanks for your kind words dude, I appreciate it a lot! I'll make sure to have fun for the both of us then ;)

I was thinking of shipping my vape with my luggage, not with me on the flight or in my carry on, after I alcohol wipe everything so it is sterile and dismantled in a couple of luggage bags with me and a friend or two, and not in its original one piece form. Is that gonna be alright you reckon?

@Rave88,

I love AMS !!!
Many of the coffeeshops are small and crowded. I liked Paradox as it's bigger with a Volcano.
I also liked La Tertulia as it's on a canal, bigger, has De Verdampfer to use, and has an upper level.

Many headshops have cheap quality touristy crap. The quality shop is Azarius, with many vapes available. They also have magic truffles.

Bikes rule there so consider renting for a day or more. Mike's bike shop is 50 paces from Azarius
OR a bike tour of the city out of Mike's. If you think you'll go to Mike's let me know as I have a message for them. Note- if you rent bike, lock it and watch it like a hawk as bike thefts are rampant, like 10% of all bikes get stolen every year :(

Great city to just wander and enjoy---- hoping to return in May, 2016.

Vape and chill on a canal boat ride?

Vape and chill on a canal boat sounds awesome! I'm def' going to give it a try.

I was hoping to visit the Azarious shop, so if its close to Mike's bike shop, I don't mind stopping by and delivering your message :)

Not really familiar with De Verdampfer, but I am always happy to listen to advices from fellow FCers, so far you helped me buy my Mighty, which was a success, so I plan on listening to you guys more!

La Tertulia sounds awesome! any more great coffeshops that house great vapes, besides the volcano? which I already on my first visit to AMS

A short walk from Azarius you'll find 2 coffeeshops with vaporizers :leaf::rockon:

Happy feelings and Dolphin both have Verdampers available to use. Each coffeeshop has a totally different vibe, choose the one you like the look of.

If you feel like it, its only a 10-15 minute walk from there to Katsu. I usually get food before or after Katsu, there are excellent food options nearby.

De Verdamper is a interesting vape to try. It's kind of like a big science experiment with the beaker and all. It is big and packs a punch. I was really glad to try one a few times---liked it a lot but it would not be a top choice for a home vape for me. Heater element gets burning hot so you need to mind your manners with ;)

Note---it takes almost 15 minutes to get it up to prime temp. We combusted a bong bowl while waiting and yuck-yuck-yuck, fuck-combustion.
La Tertulia let you call ahead too----just tell 'em to plug in the mighty Verdamper.....

.............................................
EDIT-- I want to be there right now !!!!!!!
Picture of Voyageurs Coffeeshop, "famous" shop near central station. They have a "Tasting Tuesday" with mystery/unknown to customer strain of the day.... Can be a good score for cheaper than many shops--- IMO AMS bud prices are getting very pricey, but it is what it is

Sorry to burst your bubble but cannabis oil is illegal in Amsterdam. It is categorised as a class A drug. So you won't be getting any wax or shatter.

Yup, Dutch law is fucking stupid. They definitely lost my tourist dollar a long time ago. If I can't consume cannabis in the way that works for me medicinally (that is extracted actives, no filler) in your so-called cannabis Mecca, then thankyou and goodbye!

Besides, under their current legal system, hashes are no problem, only oil. So we can dab full melt but not Rosin? What the shit?!

All of these people focusing on percentages of THC as the Dutch system seems to be obsessed with right now are missing the point anyway. Having made high purity extracts for a very long time, I can tell you that you get higher from full melt hashes than the highest quality dewaxed shatter. It's the terps, not just the THC! A lot of this thinking still goes on around here.

My home away from home!
I took this photo when I was there in 2013
q60BnrT.jpg

Although I was still a full blown combustor then, maybe a seed had been set when I saw young tourists using what were likely Volcano balloons while I puffed joints outside the Greenhouse coffeeshop.
(which, by the way, got awfully busy at times).
Little did I know I'd be fully converted under two years later, and be filling Volcano bags of my own!
I cant wait to go back now that I've converted, and have thought about the ins and outs of vaping there.
It should be great in those hotels that don't allow smoking too.
I think I read on this forum somewhere that on similar holidays, some like to take a vape with replaceable bowl/vapor path/stem (like a Solo) and either dump the stems or clean thoroughly on return?
Like you say it should be fine once it's all clean, I've come out of there with worse :)
Perhaps some of the lighter or butane powered vapes could be dumped on return, but it sure does suck to dump things.
I had to bin 1-2g of various strains when I came home the last time and I hated it! Was almost looking for someone to give it to instead!

As has been said, enjoy everything about the city, and if like me you are not too used to big cities first time, out on the street keep your eye on your money, and avoid talking to sketchy individuals giving you their life story or wanting your time, asking do you speak english etc
Just try not to look too much like a stoned tourist in front of the odd street shark haha! A group of you should be quite safe at any time of day or night though.

IMO, any of the cheaper strains there tend to blow away anything that I'm used to normally, so I never tend to try the expensive stuff much!
I had good luck and good times that last time at Mellow Yellow Coffeeshop, and I would recommend the Cheese at Coffeeshop Resin just for being a good tasty bang for buck for what I'm used to anyway.
And the nearby Doors coffeeshop can have nice quiet yet groovy atmosphere that I like, away from the main drag. There's also a pool table upstairs, but you can really relax in that place and walk to the door with your drink and streetwatch etc as if it were your own place.
The menus of the first two, and probably many others are available by searching google.

A few people including myself talked about the Solo or Air, I traveled there with a Air and brought along one of the airplane safe bottles containing 100ML of ISO.

After 4 days of heavy use I put the short all glass stem into the bottle when we finished our last puffs round the corner from the airport. And finished the rinse in the toilets near the train station. Basically inside the airport but it's not a problem.

However for the price of £10 you could just chuck the dirty stem away if it's not worth the effort to you.
